In all honesty, we will not be able to sustain this and fight forever. If they keep throwing bodies like this, we will lose. That's reality.
After Chen recovered, he stood up high. With one last deep breath and shrugging, he added, "sorry about that but I really need a break."
Some of the guards who remained unharmed, were completely confused. They didn't know if they were going to attack him or hold me back but decided on the last one, they stayed. Once again Chen advanced quickly, not giving them a chance to get up, he snatched them from my body and they went flying.
When I was finally free, he helped me up and I patted him on the back as a thank you. Then he suggested, "the next time, maybe don't let you drop to the ground."
"Don't worry, there won't be a next time," I replied coldly, trying to lift my pride off the floor. He laughed at my hidden shame, but it suddenly broke off when he realized there was a new wave of guards around us. He sighed once and wiped the sweat on his forehead, "are you ready?"
"I'm ready" I replied and took a calming breath.
"That's not very convincing to hear," he replied flatly. I reached deep into the void, where the embers were burning and threatened to burn. I looked at Chen and he gave me a nod. Replying to his movements, I said, "on the count of three."
He turned around so we now went back to the back, making sure we were helpless from behind. He started counting, "1, 2"
I did not hear the last number being called as the sound of static electricity filled my ears. No problem, at number three, I have released fire at the same time Chen unleashed his lightning.
The two elements, just as deadly, caused more chaos than I had ever witnessed. I saw the faces of my victims right before the fire caught them, afraid of turning their expressions into a face of fear and freezing fear. On the unsettling picture, shivers danced on my spine and goosebumps along my skin.
My fire spread like a plague and there was not much I needed to do because the guards were blinded by the panic and pain of doing the job itself too effectively. It was a terrifying sight to behold, a combination of the burning carnage and the scent of flesh littering the air. But I feel strong.
My ego takes away the mess and the frightened faces. They were all scared of me and something dark inside me loved it. I hold so much raw power and strength in my palms and the part of myself that is not human grows out of that feeling. The ferocious beast inside roared in response, sounding like music in my ears.
But I was in conflict. I know I shouldn't feel this way and it's very wrong of me to feel this way. But I did. Does that make me a bad person?
That's a question I haven't answered. Maybe one day, after all this, I'll look back and know for sure. But at the moment, it is very difficult to say when the lines are easily blurred and my emotions are playing like dolls. Sometimes, it feels as if I have no control over myself, over my actions and it makes me dangerous.
And sometimes I give up.
Generating a high energy, I hurled another wave of fire at the guards who were too close to my liking. On the other side of me, Chen attacked his opponents ferociously but with the guards surrounding us from all directions, we were still in our defensive game. It started to become a cycle. After taking one line of men, the others would only replace them.
"Why does it feel like they're breeding? They keep coming!" Chen shouted from behind me, clearly frustrated.
Eventually, they got closer and closer until they were within our reach. At this point, from my constant outburst, I was almost out of fuel. I need to recharge my strength so I have to use hand-to-hand combat.
Suddenly, a man came crashing like a bull at me. He was really terrible, standing almost a foot taller than me. Of the nine of us, I am the highest and that is something I am proud of but this man, if I can even call him that, is not normal.
His muscles bulged as he ran towards me and the boy inside shouted at me to escape. I'm not even ashamed of my instincts because of this man's size. Where did they even find him? Maybe he's a failed experiment, I mean that would explain it well. I wouldn't even be surprised if he used every steroid known to man.
Ignoring my cowardly thoughts, I prepared for his attack. At least I have the advantage in one thing: speed. At her size she must be slow, so if I stay firm and bite, maybe I will be able to get out alive. Unless he's sitting on me ... I thought I wouldn't survive that .
As she approached, I quickly avoided her tackle and she stepped on the brakes. Not before I landed a kick on his back, making him fall and fall to the ground with momentum. Against another guard, I dealt a blow to the chest with the base of my leg connected to his body. He flew backwards, hit the concrete wall hard and I felt bad for the man.
From behind someone grabbed my shirt and pulled me back. Losing balance, I fell to the ground but luckily the practice mat was there to soften my landing. Hurriedly, rising to my feet, I observed my opponent, realizing that it was a male beast from the past and he looked furious. Maybe it was because his face was covered in blood, I think it took the heaviest load when I pushed him to the ground.
God have mercy on me.
Taking advantage of my position, I landed a hard blow to his jaw and then another but I think he broke my hand the more I did his face. I shook my hand and clenched it again, hoping that none of my fingers would break and I would bounce my toes while holding both hands in front of my face for protection.
He swung me from the left and I ducked in time. Catching him off guard, he left his middle unprotected so I drilled a few punches into his gut. It was like punching a brick wall and this time I wasn't kidding, I thought my finger might actually break after that. Now, it would be a good time to regain my strength but my body is not listening to me. From the corner of my eyes, I saw another guard running towards me so I turned to the challenger and ignored my current opponent. I kicked my feet high and his face hit my feet quickly, knocking him to the ground.
Catching me off guard, the monster of a man swung me from the right, connecting with the side of my face and the force took me straight to the ground. God, not face, anywhere but face.
