After me, he was the second one taken. We both spent most of our time together and from what I can tell, he was very intelligent. Her personality is cheerful and funny which makes her well liked. Even in this terrible situation, he could make us laugh.

But he wasn't always like that. He was really serious when he wanted to and I can also say that he was angry. His anger got in the way of logical thinking and it made him impulsive. I realized it the day we met, when the guards came carrying food and he with the rebels threw it back to the cell door.

No one moved and we all just stared at the open scenery. I held my breath waiting for the certainty that he was okay. Slowly Baekhyun tried to get up but his arm came out from under him. Vic nudged his body with his feet as if he was a piece of trash on the ground and I didn't want to watch anymore.

"Remember the rules? Respect and obey" he whispered.

"Related respect is received," Baekhyun exclaimed. Even in his weak state he still spoke back. I don't know if it's awesome or just stupid. He added in a clearer voice, "plus why should I follow the orders of a mutt like you?"

Anger flashed across Vic's face and he kicked his stomach so hard that I was surprised I didn't hear the sound of bones cracking. An ear-piercing cry came out from Baekhyun but a moment later it was interrupted by the current flowing through it. Vic has dealt another blow with the baton.

The expression of pain on his face was too excessive and I couldn't bear it. I have a strong desire to protect her because just standing up and watching is completely against my principles. Also, guilt weighed on me, trying to swallow me completely as I thought: this is my doing.

With an impulse I lunged forward just as Vic was about to strike again but he stopped when he saw me. I covered Baekhyun with my body in a defensive position, not worrying about the consequences. The pain pierced my chest as I felt the electric tremors from his trembling body. I shouted, "STOP! Just stop. Please, I beg of you."

I was snatched from him by two guards, each holding me on either side. I fought against them, yelling at them to let me go, but it was useless. The two of them almost doubled my size and since I had not eaten properly for days, I was too weak.

Vic raised his hand and slowly clapped his hands. Once. Twice. Three times.

"How dare you. Now this is what I call true friendship" Vic scoffed. He raised the stick towards me and I began to struggle even harder trying to escape from the clutches of the guards. "Well, since you offered to take the bullet for him, I'll count it."

The pain is instant. I can't do anything but feel. My mind went blank and my body went limp as the uncontrollable spasms shook me. I wanted to vomit but there was nothing in me, my stomach was empty. I could hear someone screaming in the background but as I became more alert, I realized it was me.

"Enough," one woman ordered and I suspect it was Doctor Choi. The guards finally let me go and I fell to the ground with a thud. I stayed there unable to move, waiting for the pain to subside.

With a flick of a finger, I was lifted off the floor. There is no fight left in me. I couldn't even feel the pain anymore as the numbness spread through me. I was laid on something soft and I knew it had to be a hospital bed. The experiment will begin soon.

They tied me up with a thick belt attached to the bed, making sure all movement was restricted. I turned to the side to see the same thing happen to all of us nine.

I know there will be no point in fighting back. There was no way I could break free from restraint, especially in my exhausted state. I just lay there staring at the ceiling, hoping for a miracle, hoping someone would break through the door and save us all. I pray and beg, if there is a God or an Almighty out there, now is the time to appear.

But in the end, no one came to save us. We're alone. It's not like in books and movies where good people win, it's real life. This is our reality.
