Mr. Dimitri's Toy

Mr. Dimitri's Toy
Newborn Vampires

...- Kingdom of Azov -...

[The Third POV]

Bloods.

Thirsty.

Bloods.

Foot that is not covered with shoes tread the road of sand and rocks, long hair strung tangled cover next to the face, thin lips there is still the rest of the blood of the prey last night.

He had sucked the blood of two men but his thirst was still unsatisfied.

Dawn was ringing, the woman looked towards the east with her red eyes and hissed. He quickly searched for a hiding place when he heard a screaming sound from behind.

He turned his head and saw some people riding on horses chasing after him. Squeezing his eyes, he looked at the five men... Nope. Four humans and one vampire.

“That's it!!”

“Capture him!”

The woman growled and she forgot her thirst for a moment.

The threat! Must hide! Sunlight!

He ran quickly and his eyes had already seen an abandoned dark castle that was still a long distance away. Feeling it was the most perfect place to run from the chase, he further spurred his legs.

The sound of the horse's foot clattering sounded approaching, the sunlight only weakening him. If it was still dark, he would have already arrived there in a matter of seconds.

A hand reached for his shoulder, clutching so tightly that his body spun towards the dark green-robed vampire. There was a silver circle in his left hand.

Stefan, Edric Suarez's accomplice is about to plug the circle into the newborn vampire's neck. They had chased him for two days and never managed to catch him.

A new strategy was developed. The hunt is done at sunrise, where newborn vampires are at their weakest.

Stefan's hand was about to sheave a silver-plated circle into the woman's vampire neck, and he finally caught it!

Not only did the pride end from within Stefan, his captive smiled a small smile at him and disappeared from before Stefan.

Stefan gasped in shock, his left hand still swinging upwards and the circle only caught the air.

“Where is he?”

He blinked a few times and looked around to make sure that the woman was completely gone.

The soldiers of King Azov serving Lord Edric stopped behind him and dismounted from their horses.

“Master, where is the girl?”

The soldiers did not know that what they were after was a vampire.

“So I saw the master was so close to him, but why is he not here now?” ask others in confusion.

Stefan still can't believe what happened. He was silent for so long before saying, “Lost. She disappeared.”

He clenched his hand, a right-hand man Edric Suarez lost to a newborn vampire?

The sun was almost out. They cannot continue this hunt.

“All of you, lay down all these forest areas! Find out if there is a shack or a dark abandoned place. But don't try to get in. If anything suspicious, let me know. Understand?”

“Ready, sir!”

They returned to the horse and split up. Stefan himself was getting ready to report his failure to Mr. Edric.

...[.The Azov Royal Meeting Hall]...

“King, without compromising my respect. Allow me to argue.”

King Azov, a 45-year-old man with a large body shape in the middle, not too tall and wearing a plush blue velvet robe, invited his peace ambassador to speak.

“Hm. Please, Edric.”

Edric Suarez stood up from his stool and looked at everyone sitting at the rectangular table. All of them were too eager to fight without thinking about the people below.

The Azov Kingdom was not a poor kingdom. They recognized the number of soldiers, weapons of war and the availability of foodstuffs. But if war breaks out, people's lives in this kingdom will also be difficult.

“I understand the anger of all of you, gentlemen. Our war commander, Lazarus, was killed in vain. He did not die in battle, but died at the hands of a woman. But don't let this anger blind you. We are in a situation of being squeezed.”

Then Edric looked at King Azov sitting on his throne with a glass of red wine in his left hand full of large stone rings.

“King, we must think of an attack from the Kingdom of Navarre. In this month already two of our warships have vanished from the eastern sea border, king. I guess it's already a signal to attack our kingdom.”

“I agree with Mr. Suarez,” said a white-haired old man sitting at the end of the table, Argo, former war commander of King Azov.

“Again, Lazarus died of his own fault. He had kidnapped a woman who came from another kingdom, then he was not killed in the land of Azov. I don't think we need to break the deal we have made with Rudolmuv Kingdom just because of an aging war commander.”

The room grew noisy with many other opinions made King Azov slam his glass on the table.

“Then who will be my new battle commander?!”

All of them were silent not daring to open their mouths to make a suggestion. King Azov was famous for his high standards in choosing war commanders. He would only approve of people who were truly good at fighting.

“Why are you quiet? If until the Kingdom of Navarre hears of a King Azov not having a war commander, I can be laughed at!”

The third wife of King Azov who just sat quietly beside her husband, finally opened her voice, “What about Cedric? He was old enough and trained all this time to be appointed as the war commander of Azov.”

King Azov snorted, “Your useless cousin? Don't expect me to elevate that boy to my commander!”

Empress Juliana fell silent to her husband's insinuation, openly expressing her disgust in front of all important officials.

Edric looked out the door, his right hand which was a vampire, Stefan had returned. From the look on his face, he failed again to catch the newborn vampire.

“Master, give me time to find a replacement for your war commander.” Edric lowered his head as a sign of respect.

King Azov swung his four fingers, as a sign that the meeting was over. They are at a dead end, despite weeks spent on these talks.

As long as he had no war commander, King Azov could do nothing.

Edric walked out of the meeting room and dragged Stefan aside, away from the other hearing.

“How? You failed again?”

Stefan gulps in shame, “Sorry, sir. But you won't believe what I see! The vampire...” he looked around and lowered his volume.

“That woman could disappear, Mr. Edric.”

Edric scrunched his forehead in disbelief at the words of his right hand.

“Oath, sir. I was already so close to him, even my hand was already on his shoulder about to sheathe the silver seal on the vampire's neck. But suddenly he disappeared sir.”

Stefan was goosebumps again as he recounted the events that happened to his master.

Silver seal, a tool used to catch new vampires roaming unaccompanied. The circle will fit into the neck of the vampire with a rope that is also made of silver, able to resist the new vampire who rebelled.

“If until the vampire is not caught, do you understand who will intervene?” hiss Edric.

He did not want to invite the presence of the Children of the Night Clan, as long as he was able to take care of the problems that were happening here.

Is it hard to catch a newborn vampire? They will not stand to linger in the sunlight. Their minds were only shrouded with thirst. There was nothing they thought of but blood.

Edric grew curious about the vampires they never caught. He was about to say that he himself would catch the new vampire when his eyes saw who was walking towards them.

“Alaric.”

“Hello, Edric Suarez. Nice to meet you back after... Hm, 50 years ago?”

“What brought you here, Alaric?”

Alaric raised one eyebrow up, “What to ask, Edric? You have a problem that you have not dealt with.”

If Alaric had gotten word that there was a new vampire roaming free and killing 29 humans in less than a week, then the Children of the Night Clan would have known.

“In the meantime he'll be caught,” furious Edric.

Alaric's blue eyes sparkle, he likes a new challenge.

“You sit quietly in this magnificent castle, Edric. I'll catch that newborn vampire.”
