Deepest Desire

Chloe turned her head, her lips filled with deer blood and slowly her sparkling red bead turned hazel brown.

“Don't your power be teleportation?”

He did not answer and continued his meal. Edric was still amazed to see Chloe's power directly in front of him. A sense of pride and admiration developed filled his chest.

It also explains how Chloe was able to get to the Azov Kingdom. It wasn't Dimitri who threw it here.

She does not believe that Dimitri is so heartless towards Chloe because the last time they met, Dimitri was very possessive of her son.

Chloe's coming here herself!

Edric wanted to hug his son tightly, but he was afraid Chloe would refuse. Their relationship is not like the usual father and son relationship. But Edric would do anything to make Chloe happy.

For now, Edric would lead her to take small steps. Chloe's not ready to run. Edric also has not dared to uncover the past that was buried tightly by Chloe unconsciously.

There must be a reason why Chloe did it.

Chloe wiped her lips with the back of her hand, “I'm done. You don't want to, Edric?”

Edric's. At least he called me by my first name. Not Mr. Suarez anymore. Though my heart wishes she had called me ‘papa’.

“I've been hunting before taking you out, Chloe. You want to rest back in your room?”

Chloe stood up and glanced at the bow in Edric's hand.

“I want to try it.”

Edric raised the bow, “Oh, would you like to practice archery? Fine, I'll teach you with pleasure.”

A smile could not escape Edric's face. He saw the face of his son who was full of concentration hearing Edric's explanation about the basic thing of archery.

The first experiment, the arrow almost managed to stick in the midpoint of a sign that Edric circled on the tree trunk.

“You have a stable and strong hand, Chloe!”

Chloe again picked up an arrow, puffed out her chest, pulled a bow and aimed at the target.

Applause Edric echoed, “Perfect! You have pent-up talent, Chloe.”

Unknowingly Edric stroked her head and Chloe did not dodge.

“What before I couldn't shoot, Edric? I think it's very easy.”

Chloe was confused because when the bow and arrow were in her hand, everything felt natural. Like he's done this before.

Edric could not give a definite answer because he did not know what Chloe's activities as a human once were!

“Ehmm. Plus you're a vampire now. I can't wait to see what you can do again.”

Chloe's energy is stirring.

“I want to shoot a moving target.”

Edric looked around them, the sky was already dark but the sight of vampires made everything clear. All the animals had been hiding, there were only the sounds of crickets and other small insects.

“After your body is more resistant to sunlight, we can hunt in the morning.”

Chloe nodded and they walked together back to the castle. Not forgetting Edric reminded Chloe not to use her powers in front of humans.

There is so much to be done by Edric. He must confront Suarez's extended family and the head of the Children of the Night clan, Magnus.

My son, there are so many obstacles ahead of you but Papa will always be by your side.

They entered the castle hall and a young servant gave his master a letter.

“Mr Suarez, what a coincidence I just went to your workspace. There's a new letter coming.”

Then the servant's eyes saw Chloe, she blushed in embarrassment and lowered her head.

Chloe was licking her own lips! The smell of the man's blood called out to him even though he was full.

SNAP OUT!

“You can go now, thank you.” Edric took the letter from his servant's hand.

“Good, Mr. Suarez. Excuse me.”

Edric clasped both shoulders Chloe, “You should be able to control your nafs. No lady behaves so in front of her servant.”

Chloe's self-conscious that what she's doing is wrong.

“Good, but what did you do to him, Edric? I saw you snap your finger.”

Chloe tried it on her own when a female servant happened to pass by to replace a candle that was about to run out.

“A-I really want to marry my girlfriend, Miss Eliza. But he didn't propose.”

Then the waiter gasped and closed his mouth with his own hands, “Sorry, miss.”.

Chloe smiled mischievously as the maid with a dead red face passed away. Edric was thrilled when he saw Chloe's first smile.

“What did you ask her, Chloe?”

“I asked him what his deepest desire was, Edric.”

“Then, what is your deepest desire Chloe?”

Chloe seemed to think for a moment.

“I want to remember everything back, Edric. I want to see my mother's face. I want to know what causes my memory to lock.”.

Edric looked at her. “Only you can reopen your memory, Chloe.”

He was alone in his study, opening the letter he had just received earlier. A letter from his spies in Rudolmuv Kingdom.

Dear Mr. Suarez,

We finally managed to get information about the whereabouts of a girl named Chloe Isabel. The girl has died, sir.

Edric stopped reading the letter and massaged his suddenly throbbing forehead. Although she knew Chloe was now safe beside her, reading this letter hurt her heart.

The girl has died, sir. We follow in the footsteps of Mr. Dimitri D’Arcy and every day he always goes to the same place. At the end of the cliff is a new tomb. We're very confident because it says Chloe Isabel's name there, sir.

Edric was still wondering why Chloe's grave was at the end of the cliff. But there is no explanation anymore.

Next, the letter was about the political situation in the Rudolmuv Kingdom. Their king was preparing for battle but would not attack first. They are still waiting for news from King Azov.

“If only they knew King Azov was in trouble to find a new commander to replace Lazarus.”.

Then an idea came to his mind. He smiled because he could kill two birds with one stone or once paddle two three islands surpassed.

Chloe will become the commander of King Azov's war and make Suarez's family uncomfortably large.

Edric believed his son could take on a great responsibility. She has the ability to learn things quickly but Chloe has to be even stronger.

“Master, you want out?” asked the butler when he saw that Edric was already wearing his coat.

“Yes, Jack. I'll go see Argo, the former war commander of King Azov.”

Jack lowered his head as Edric descended the castle steps while whistling.

Since Miss Eliza's arrival at this castle, master has become more spirited and smiley.

“What? There's no-there's Edric. You're telling me to guide an untrained woman from childhood to become a soldier? Who has been practicing for many years is not sure to qualify.”

Edric took a sip of the wine provided by the host, observing the scratches on Argo's left cheek. Memories given by the enemy of war in its heyday.

“Not to be a soldier, Argo. He will be the war commander of King Azov.”

“It's up to you what it is, Edric. But I won't accept your offer.”

Edric promises to pay a big fee if he agrees to train Chloe. But not the pay pursued by Argo. His life has been comfortable and given plenty of facilities since he retired.

“You should meet him first, Argo. I'm sure you'll retract your words.”

Argo smiled lightly.

Edric laughed and raised his wine glass up.

“Thank you Argo, you are indeed a reliable friend.”
