Mr. Dimitri's Toy
A Foreign-Sounding Name

...[.House of Edric Suarez]...

After getting word that Alaric had managed to catch the free-roaming new vampire, Edric rushed out of his study to the hall, followed by Stefan.

In the middle of that large and majestic hall, Alaric half looked down on the iron cage, his right hand tightly grasping the silver seal. Talk to someone inside.

Then as they went down the stairs, Alaric turned his back and said, “See my results today, Edric.”

Edric squinted his eyes, sunlight shone through the room and the woman's body drooped weakly inside the iron cage. Sunlight cannot make new vampires die, but they will be greatly tormented.

Long brown hair covering his face made Edric unable to see clearly the figure of the woman.

“You've gone mad, Alaric.”

Alaric looked at him in wonder, “Why? If no one wants to take responsibility for taking care of this new vampire, he will also die at my hands.”

The head of the Children of the Night clan, Magnus, had given the order to kill the person who had changed this woman as well as him if no one could tame him.

Even so, Alaric is tempted to keep this beautiful vampire to himself. He has his own castle with a size much smaller than the magnificent castle of Edric, equipped with a dungeon.

If Edric Suarez hands off with this new vampire, it means he belongs to Alaric. It is a pity that such a beautiful woman should die.

“Close all windows in this room!!”

Some of the servants who were standing there, were in a hurry to close all the big windows.

Edric swiftly opened the iron cage and took out his light and weak body. Edric's cold hand flicked his hair to the side and how surprised he was when he saw who the woman in his hand was.

“Master, do you know this woman?” stefan asked confused when he saw his master flinch.

Many questions flashed through Edric's mind. But he knew exactly the answer to Stefan's question.

Of course I know him. She's my son, Chloe Isabel!

Edric's mouth was stiff, he couldn't make a sound to answer. Her heart ached looking at Chloe's cold and pale face, in contrast to the last time they met.

When he hasn't changed.

From his queen's belly, Edric can see that the child in Chloe's womb has come out. A huge rock grabbed Edric's throat, he threw his head back and screamed until the wall shook.

There is only one name that should be responsible for what happened to his daughter.

Dimitri!

“D-dia wake.”

Stefan's voice resuscitated Edric. Her big hand cupped Chloe's cheek, one tear falling over her as the new vampire's red eyes opened slowly, then widened.

[Chloe’s POV]

Be ill.

Thirsty.

Me where?

I could faintly see someone, then his figure became clearer. She had a kind and friendly face, yet she was crying. Wh why?

He took off something that tied and choked my neck, and I breathed a sigh of relief. I want to sleep again, his hands under my head feel comfortable. I don't want to move and be by his side.

But he patted me on the cheek again and I opened my eyes again.

“Chloe..”

I scrunched my forehead. The name sounds foreign.

Wait for. I don't remember what my name is!

When I was still astonished by all this, their conversation sounded which made me even more confused.

“So you know him, Edric? Are you the one who changed this woman and just let her go?”

Ah, that's the voice I hate. He who had disturbed my drinking time, pulled my neck so tight and locked me in an iron cage.

“Not! All of this is hard to explain. But one thing is for sure, he is my son.”

Whahuh? This guy is my dad? I should feel comfortable here.

The man who called himself my father, looked at my face.

“I only have one child who is really my own flesh and blood. She was born from the womb of the woman I love.”

The other two men gasped at Edric's statement.

“How can Edric? How long have you been hiding this? If the clan leader knows, your life will be threatened because it does not report something as important as this.”

Edric raised his head to look at the man and hissed, “I'm not serving your clan chief, Alaric. And there are no rules that I break. I only hid the whereabouts of this boy from my family until he turned into like us.”

Maybe I groaned because he said, his voice turned soft, “Ssshh.. You're safe now, Chloe. No one can hurt you anymore.”

Again he called me by that name. Since I don't remember who I am, I opened my dry mouth.

“Chloe?”

The sound coming out of my mouth also felt foreign. Edric seemed to be slapped hearing me say my own name.

“Chloe, you don't remember everything? Why are you here? Who brought you here?”

The question made me throb my head. I'm trying to remember.

“T-don't know. I just remember wanting to go somewhere else. Suddenly I woke up in a strange place and felt thirsty. I-I have killed many people.”

As soon as the words came out of my mouth, I realized. I killed another human!

I stood up and sat up straight, my body still weak from the thirst that could not be lost. But now I remember what I did.

I felt thirsty and the smell of blood calling me. The drunk man was the first target. He interrupted a woman who was walking alone, I went up to him and bit his neck. Then he fell weak and did not wake up again.

“I think they're all dead! How is this, sir?”

“Chloe, it doesn't matter now. Don't you remember the events before that?”

I scrunched my forehead, “No. Have we met before?”

“I'm Edric Suarez, Chloe! We've met.. I'm your father.”.

The man's face was panicked yet he tried to remain calm. I watched her face for so long, yet I felt like this was our first meeting.

A man named Alaric said, “He has just changed and does not remember his past. I think I know what caused it.”

We all saw it.

“I've handled a lot of new vampire cases. This is not one hundred percent true, but there is a possibility of it happening. He used his own strength to dispel his memories.”

Strength? What power do I have?

As if Edric knew what confused me he explained, “Every vampire has the power to manipulate and dispel human memories, Chloe. Alaric's point is that you erased your human memory when you turned into a vampire.”

Alaric sighed, “If this is what you're going to do, Edric? If you don't want to take responsibility, I'll.”.

“From now on Chloe is my responsibility. Your task is done. You can go now and tell Magnus that I'll see him.”

The blue bead looked at me for so long. I don't like the look in his eyes that seem to pounce on me. If Edric wasn't here, I would've clawed his eyeballs out.

Alaric laughed as if he knew what I was thinking. “Well, since the host has already kicked me out without gratitude when I have found his daughter, I will leave. We'll meet again, sweety.”

I felt Edric was about to open his mouth but the man had left in the blink of an eye. Then Edric's hand held my shoulder.

“Chloe, you are my daughter and this is your home now. Understand?”

I'm nodding. Being on the side of a guy who says he's my dad makes me feel comfortable. I trust him.

I know two important things now.

I am the son of Edric Suarez and my name is Chloe.

But I don't know what plans Edric Suarez has in mind and my future.
