Chapter 26: Elena's Condition.

The night is getting cold and menc3k1k. A thin, worn blanket was unable to protect Iris from the night wind that was blowing increasingly louder.

However, all that no longer cared about Iris who still remained faithful sitting in the doorway of her house, was about to wait for someone to come.

The girl chose to run to follow where the man went while carrying Iris.

Some nurses suddenly panicked when they found Elena's body had a severe seizure. Simon, Samantha, and Evans, who had only been there for a few minutes, were shocked to see Elena's condition from behind the glass.

Samantha herself was crying hysterically.

Doctor James goes into the ICU. She ordered one of the nurses to close the curtains of the room so that Elena's family could not see her.

"Ma, relax, Ma. Elena will be fine" said Simon trying to calm down, although he himself was also struck by fear.

Simon hugged Samantha as tightly as possible while carrying her wife to a waiting chair. The man stroked Samantha's head while kissing her to give her peace.

Moments later, Doctor James came out of the ICU room with a sad face. The man approached the patient's family to inform them that Elena had brain stem death. This condition resulted in Elena not only losing consciousness, but also being unable to breathe on her own. He needed respiratory assistance through a ventilator.

His life now depends on supporting tools only, and certainly he will never regain consciousness.

Hearing the doctor's explanation, Samantha screamed hysterically. The hope of healing his beloved daughter was dashed for a moment.

Fragility is also seen from the faces of Simon and Albern, Elena's lover. Simon had even cried and begged Doctor James to do everything possible so that Elena would wake up again and be able to gather with them.

Meanwhile, Evans got up from his seat and walked unsteadily leaving them. The news brought the doctor a slap in the man's face. Guilt-rolling filled Evans' heart space.

His footsteps came to a halt in a very quiet hospital hallway. The man fell on the floor crying.

Never once did Evans act as a true sister by protecting and loving Elena. All this time, she had only been cast as a very evil elder sister. In fact, until the girl's last day, she let him go alone without a single care.

"I'm sorry" Evans said in a raucous voice. He beat the wall with his fist until it bruised.
