A few days have passed. Albern is currently sitting in the hospital waiting for the judge's verdict. Evans was also charged with house-breaking and assault. However, fortunately the judge was fair and decided that the move Evans took was one form of emergency rescue and self-defense.
"Defendant in the name of Albern Danish William, legally proven to commit Kidnapping, Sacking, and Pemerk0s44n Trial against Elena Odenia Wileen, causing psychological trauma to the victim. Considering the actions you have committed brings harm to the victim and his or her family. The defendant was sentenced to 10 years in prison without parole. Once released, the accused will also never be allowed to be close to the victim, and will be exiled somewhere far from the victim."
The judge's hammer sounded afterwards. Elena, Evans, and Samantha were in attendance to hug each other. They were quite satisfied with the judge's verdict, especially on the last point. At least, Elena no longer needs to look face to face with the man she once loved.
Meanwhile, Sam and Lidya, both of Albern's parents looked sad. Lidya even approached Samantha to apply for leniency to Albern.
For the sake of mercy, the woman was also willing to prostrate at his feet.
Samantha who felt uneasy asked Lidya to stand up.
"Help me, Samantha. You must feel the same way about me, don't you? We're Samantha's friends." While crying, Lidya continued to beg for mercy from the woman.
"We are friends, Lidya, but that was before all this happened. I feel exactly what you are feeling now, therefore, I will do nothing. It's all decided by the judge." After saying so, Samantha left the courtroom without looking back at Lidya.
Elena and Evans followed their mother's steps. However, Lidya swiftly held onto Elena's arm.
"Elena, Aunty knows you still love Albern so much. He did all this because of his love for you. Aunty please, El, we can fix everything!" exclamation Lidya.
Elena asked Lidya to release herself, but the woman instead tightened her grip on Elena.
Not staying silent, Evans a little rudely helped release Lidya's hand and threw it away. Without saying anything, they left the crazy woman.
Like a lunatic, Lidya screamed for Elena's name.
Elena tried not to care, even though tears flowed down her cheeks.
Seeing the sadness of his sister, Evans clasped the girl's hand and walked together towards the exit.
Arriving outside the courthouse, Elena immediately hugged Samantha and strengthened each other. Seeing the mother's fragility made Elena promise that she would become a strong and brave girl from now on.
"I also promise to live happily after this, Ma" he said.
Samantha nodded haru. "Dear, we'll live happily."
Finished this one big problem. Now, they can focus on Simon's health condition completely. The husband was not really told about Albern. Several times he did ask about the development of Elena and Albern's relationship.
Elena could only reply, that the relationship between the two had ended because there was no longer a match between them.
Although he was disappointed because the man was quite fond of Albern's nature, but Simon could not interfere with the decision taken by the princess. Elena deserves her own way of life.
Elena let go of her mother's embrace, before preparing to get into the car, because Joe, their personal driver, was waiting. However, Evans asked his mother for permission to take his sister for a walk first. They did come apart from Evans, because the man had gone to court from his apartment straight away.
"Dear, have fun. Mom, wait at home for dinner, okay?"
"Yes, Ma." Elena and Evans kissed the mother on the cheek. They waited for him there until the car that Joe drove left the parking area.
"It's up to you" Evans replied indifferently.
"Well, take me to an expensive place?" Elena looked at the elder sister expectantly.
"Don't expect too much. I'm not responsible if you're disappointed" Evans said as he walked away leaving his sister to his car.
...***...
Evans was not at all bothered by Elena's sour face and her deathly glances. The man continued to enjoy tuna and egg sandwiches, while occasionally sipping his cool drink quietly on the park chair.
"I told you not to expect too much. I just want to enjoy lunch here" said Evans casually, who to Elena sounded mocking him.
Instead of answering, Elena chose to throw her face in the other direction while biting into her sandwich.
"Can't if you've been kind to me, keep acting like that? It feels like your kindness is like a recurrent illness!" chirp Elena ketus. He went back to eating his sandwich in a big bite.
Evans smiled faintly when he saw the behavior of his sister. His hand then took a handkerchief from the bag of pants to clean the leftovers stuck to the corner of Elena's lips.
"Spend your meal first, just nag!" the man was half irritated.
"My mood's gone when it's full!"
Hearing that, Evans could not help but laugh.
They both enjoyed their lunch in silence.
After finishing eating, the two chatted lightly about work and other small things, before finally, Evans ventured to ask something that had stuck in his heart for the past few days.
"Why do you want to know how much I believe in reincarnation?" Instead of answering after hearing Evans' question about reincarnation, Elena asked back.
Evans was silent for a moment in search of the right reason. "I just read a book in the city library about reincarnation, because I see you get so excited every time you talk about it."
Elena nodded. It seems that he was quite receptive to the original reason that Evans gave.
"I don't know how big it is, but I definitely believe it. You skeptical man will never be able to understand what I mean" Elena said.
Evans fell silent. The atmosphere was silent for a moment before Evans reopened his voice.
"I once read a fantasy book, about a couple of lumberjack grandparents who lived a hard life in antiquity. Every day the grandparents only rely on their daily lives only from the wood they sell. Until finally, the grandfather was caught cutting down illegal wood and sentenced to death in front of the citizens."
Hearing Evans' story, Elena shut her eyes. "Then?"
Evans exhaled for a moment, before starting the story again.
