PENGHALAM
Chapter 5. Weny

Vira felt that there was something her husband was hiding. The woman held Yudha's hand. Look at it softly. For three years of their marriage, the man said rudely and snapped at him.

Three years into their marriage, Yudha always indulged herself. The man's attention had diminished since he became a manager. Plus the mother-in-law who always sought Yudha's attention since living together.

Her husband took a deep and long breath. Like a lot of burden on the mind. Vira felt sorry to see him.

"Mas, just tell me what you want. Why are you just silent."

"Already, Vira. Forgetit. I'm tired of going to bed." Yudha placed his wife's plate on the nightstand.

Yudha laid down her body and closed her eyes. Vira did not dare to disturb either. The woman laid her body next to her husband.

In the morning, as usual Vira cooks for their breakfast. While serving food to the table, Desy's mother-in-law came.

"I remind you! Never again ask Yudha to serve you. He's not your maid!" said Desy's mother in a loud voice.

Vira tried to smile and not get carried away by emotions. He still serves food at the table.

"Mommy is hungry? Want breakfast now?" ask Vira. He did not answer his mother-in-law's words.

As Mother Desy was about to yell at Vira, a female voice called out her name. Vira's mother-in-law stood up from her seat and welcomed the person.

"Honey, come in" said Ms. Desy.

It turned out that came Weny. The woman brought a bushel and handed it to her.

"I came by in the morning. As I promised yesterday, I want to masakin mommy aceh fried noodles. But maybe my cooking is not as good as Miss Vira," said Weny saw Vira who sat near the dining table.

"Mom sure your cooking must be delicious," said Ms. Desy.

Desy's mother served the aceh fried noodles on the dining table enthusiastically. Weny helped. Desy's mother pushed the fried rice that Vira cooked to the edge.

"You sit down, I call Yudha first" Mother Desy said softly.

Vira took a deep breath. Her chest felt tight at the treatment of her mother-in-law who was very different between her and Weny. For three years he was married to Yudha, never did his mother-in-law behave so sweetly.

"How are you, Vira?" asked Weny when her mother-in-law had left.

"As you can see, I'm fine."

"Everything is good, before I stop working and you start playing here a lot" said Vira softly.

There were footsteps approaching the kitchen. Weny then spoke a little loudly. He tried to shed his tears.

"Mbak Vira don't misunderstand me. I came here to do office work. This morning I came also because I had an appointment with Aunt Desy. I never intended to take Mas Yudha from Mbak. Why accuse me of ruining the household, Ma'am?" said Weny stammered with holding back tears.

Desy's mother who heard Weny's words became bloodied. Walk faster to Vira. Stand in front of the woman with a waistline.

"Hi, you barren woman! Your house and Yudha is broken. Don't accuse a woman as good as Weny who was the trigger. Do you realize that you are not perfect? Do not pretend to be a victim. The victim here, Yudha. Because get a woman like you!" snapped Mom Desy.

The woman approached Weny. Gently wipe away the tears of her son's girlfriend.

"Don't listen to that woman. You came because Aunt and Yudha were inviting" said Desy's mother.

Yudha took a deep breath in seeing all of that. The face of Vira. His wife's eyes were red as if holding back tears.

"Mother, don't talk so rudely to Vira" Yudha said.

Hearing Yudha's words, the mother seemed to regain her emotions. Yudha and Vira took turns.

"This is what makes your wife soar. You always defend him. Listen, if your wife is being rude to Weny" said Desy's mother.

Vira stood up from her seat. His chest became increasingly tight because it was holding back the crying.

"Did you hear what I said to Weny? What is my fault if I am not given any offspring? I want a child too. However, what can I do if God doesn't trust me to have children" Vira said.

"You heard it yourself! Your wife always denied Mom's words."

Yudha seemed to take a deep breath. Not knowing who to defend. Mother or wife. Suddenly Weny stood up from her seat.

"Mom, maybe my presence is disturbing for Ms. Vira. Let me go" said Weny.

"Nobody is disturbed by your presence. Mom and Yudha were happy. If it is Vira who is disturbed, let her go. You stay here."

I asked Weny to sit back. Vira then stepped out of them. No one prevented her departure including her husband. Vira went into the room and shed her tears.
