In the wilderness.
3 graceful creatures appear to walk by slouching through the roots of a large tree that has also been their hiding place all this time.
It had already been 13 days since the three of them were in enemy territory to do their duty to observe the changes occurring to their rival tribes.
They are actually assigned to spy on the state of the opponent and are asked to return immediately when they have ascertained what is going on there, because long enough their enemy has left the border they should guard.
However, once completed in its investigation, the 3 creatures were unable to leave and return from enemy territory as the region had now been in a situation they knew to be a war zone.
Eleanor, the female Elf, stopped her footsteps and turned to her two brothers.
“You heard something?” Asked Fael, the eldest brother, in a soft voice.
Eleanor nodded and placed her index finger in front of her lips. With her superior sharp hearing, Eleanor could hear a movement, even if she was a long distance away. Eleanor could hear any sound 500 meters away from her.
Fael, the Elf who had close combat skills, reflexively reached into his waist and pulled out a short sword from his sleeve.
Meanwhile, their youngest brother, Glynka, rushes up one of the large roots to monitor the surroundings.
From where it was, Glynka again jumped high and landed on a large branch.
After getting a good position to monitor the situation inside the forest, he then turned to Eleanor who then pointed her finger at a direction.
Glynka followed that direction and looked there with her eyes narrowed.
Glynka focused the magic energy in both of her eyes. Glynka's advantage is his vision, which is used to seeing clearly anything that is still within 500 meters of him. However, by using magic energy, his vision could extend up to a distance of approximately 1 kilometer.
In addition to having advantages in visibility, Glynka is also an expert in using arrows.
While speaking softly to tell the situation in the distance, Glynka took a bow and 3 arrows from his back.
“There are three scouts coming towards us and a squad that is waiting some distance away from them.”
“How many troops?” Ask Fael.
Glynka was silent for a moment to count the number of opponents.
“Twenty.”
After saying that sentence, Glynka pulled her bow, then released her 3 arrows.
Glynka was still in place to observe the enemy forces. He did not pay attention to the 3 spotter Elves who were targeted by the three arrows because he knew the shots must have hit the 3 scouts.
Glynka then clicked when she saw the 20 Elves in the distance start moving.
“They have Elves who also have skills like Ele.” Glynka. "They are now moving towards us." Added.
Glynka was monitoring the enemy to see if they would notice that the three scouts had been ambushed. Unfortunately, they realized it because it immediately moved when the three scouts fell from the branch of the tree when it was pierced to death by an arrow released by Glynka.
"I'll burn them all." Eleanor.
Fael shook his head.
"We don't know how strong they are now." Fael reminded.
If the enemy who was only a soldier-class was still in a normal state, of course Eleanor could annihilate them herself with just a few chanting spells.
However, from the results of the investigation they had obtained, the enemy Elves from the warrior class to the leader class, seemed to grow stronger after their bodies gained strength that they still did not know where it came from.
“Let's go away now.” Say Fael again.
Glynka was still in her place. He then looked in the opposite direction from the arrival of the enemy group.
“We are already near the border of the war zone. I can't see anything in the opposite direction to that troop.” Glynka's voice tells them how they are.
Fael nodded slowly. There was nothing they could do if the border of the war zone he knew was impassable, now limited their wiggle room.
“How far can we go?”
“Probably a hundred feet.”
Fael was silent for a moment before returning to speak.
"Then let's fight. I just happen to want to test their strength."
Although they were in a state of urgency, Fael and Glynka spoke calmly as if their real situation was precarious, not a matter of meaning.
They also did not hesitate to speak in a rather loud voice, because it was useless for them to speak in whispers when there were Elves who had sharp hearing also in the enemy army.
Actually, it was not because they believed they could fight and defeat all the opponents who were approaching, so they also acted as if they were underestimating the opposing forces. However, because Elves basically already had a high sense of confidence. Moreover, the three of them were fighting Elves who had abilities above the average fighting Elves.
Elves always thought that they would not know the outcome if they did not try it. As long as they cannot guess the outcome, they always have a belief that they will be able to get out of an urgent situation.
“Just in case something bad happens. Glyn, you go all the way to the war zone. Perform long-range attacks from there.” Fael's Command.
“Good. But, I only have 6 arrows left.”
“Save and only use when circumstances permit. Me and Ele will try to take care of them first.”
“Yes. Careful.” Glynka quietly. He jumped up and left the place.
“Cautious.” Eleanor said after she saw her sister disappear behind a large tree not far from where she was standing.
His words were not directed at Glynka, but at Fael.
“Sure. Let's hold on until this war zone barrier magic opens.” Sahut Fael's. He then went in the opposite direction from the direction Glynka was going. It moved towards the enemy forces which were also moving towards where they were.
Eleanor jumped on the tree root. He then looked up to find a safe hiding place for him.
The trees in the forest had very large branches and also tall trunks.
The size of each tree trunk that is there will probably be as big as the embrace of 20 adult humans.
Fael finally stopped and hid behind a tree. He pulled a knife from his waist.
With a short sword in his right hand and a small knife in his left, Fael stood there waiting for the enemy to arrive.
About 10 minutes later, a burly Elf figure arrived near Fael's hideout.
The elf who had a deep purple body skin looked around him.
Not because he had sensed the presence of the enemy there, he had always stopped when he had walked several tens of meters just to check the circumstances around him, before continuing his journey back.
Along with him, there were 4 other Elves behind him.
Elves are very good at disguising magic energy.
That was why, the burly Elf earlier, instantly lost one of his hands when he was unaware of Fael's sudden attack, as he passed through a tree.
“Argh..!”
After severing one of the enemy's arms, Fael stabbed his knife into the opponent's chest.
However, his attack was avoidable to his opponent who swiftly jumped up and went away.
Although he had jumped back due to the surprise attack earlier, now the 4 Elves who had walked behind the Elves who had just lost one arm, had lost one, advancing together and attacking the lustful-looking Fael wanted to kill one of their comrades.
Noticing the attack coming from behind him, Fael slashed his sword to keep his distance from the enemy, before he finally jumped back.
The four dark-bodied Elves chased after him.
They didn't want to give Fael a chance to keep their distance. They know, there's a witch Elf with him. If their distance was too far apart, it would naturally be used by Elf magicians to conduct long-range attacks.
What the 4 Elves were thinking was very precise. They were spared from Eleanor's long-range attack plan which was hiding somewhere on top of a tree while waiting for her chance to attack.
However, not so with the Elf who had lost one of his arms. He who was a little far away from his colleagues, was heard screaming in pain.
The Elf's body was burned by the long-range attack Eleanor gave her.
The blue flame burned down the entire body of the poor Elf very quickly.
However, as if undisturbed and indifferent to what had befallen his comrade, the 4 Elves continued to attack Fael.
Fael used the small knife in his left hand to fend off the attacks from the opponent's short sword that came at him in a row, while he kept his right hand that held the short sword behind his body.
Just by looking at what Fael was doing, the 4 Elves knew that their opponent would be very dangerous if they had to deal with 1 against 1.
Fael could easily fend off their attacks with just a single hand grasping a knife.
If they were facing 1 against 1, of course the blade was not used to fend off attacks, but it would definitely be used to attack them.
After being busy fending off the attacks of his opponents for quite some time, Fael finally saw the gap that one of the Elves gave him. At that moment, he quickly counterattacked.
The sword in his right hand, which had only been behind his body since then, moved quickly and slashed at the neck of the Elf which unintentionally provided a gap to attack.
“Syattttt..”
What had just happened to one of those Elves, made a huge gap.
Surprised as Fael's attack ravaged their comrade, at that moment the other 3 Elves accidentally gave a pause to attack as they turned their heads on his comrade's head which floated down to the ground.
The opportunity was used by Fael to jump and stay away from them.
At that moment, 3 bluish fireballs shot out quickly and lodged right on the third body of the Elf.
“Crass..
Simultaneously with the sound of flames burning bodies, the three Elves shouted in a roaring voice facing their deaths.
Fael did not stay still to see the state of the opponent who could be sure to meet their death soon.
He looked around and saw 15 Elves standing around him. It seemed, the sound of his fight against the 4 Elves had invited all of his opponents who had been moving with the small group, to come to that place simultaneously
Although Fael was standing a short distance away from the enemy, Eleanor was not rash and immediately attacked from a distance.
His opponent was too many and stood a distance apart a bit far away. It was very difficult for Eleanor to attack a separate opponent. And again, if his attacks could not directly finish off all of his enemies, they would definitely find out his position of hiding and directly ambush him.
Therefore, Eleanor was still waiting for a while, until finally the 6 Elves fell down with each hole in their throats due to the long-range attack that Glynka had just slashed.
Eleanor cast her spell. A moment later a blue fireball appeared from both of his palms. He then pointed his palm forward, then from each of his palms, 2 blue fireballs shot away.
At that moment, Fael had also moved quickly. Utilizing Glynka's surprise attack, he darted at one of the Elves whose concentration was interrupted when he saw 6 of his comrades getting a surprise attack.
“Slash...!”
Fael's short sword managed to separate the head of one of the Elves from his body.
The situation was very much on Fael's side. After Fael successfully kills one of the Elves, Eleanor's 4 fireballs again make the other Elves lose focus when they see their other comrades burning.
Fael moved quickly to attack the Elf who had lost most of his focus and he managed to slash the neck of 1 Elf again.
There are only 3 enemies left.
Fael threw a knife in his left hand which was then lodged in his enemy's throat. After throwing his knife, without looking and waiting for the result of his attack, Fael moved towards another Elf.
“Tangggg!”
The elf saw Fael's arrival and deftly repelled the sword that was pointing at his neck.
However, Fael's left hand that was distorted by magic energy had already moved swiftly towards the Elf's body.
“Bammmm...!”
The Elf's body bounced upon receiving a hard blow that shattered the bones in her chest. The elf who had just been hit with magic energy just now, could already be sure to die a short while later.
Fael is back on the move. He was now darting away towards the last remaining Elf.
However, that last Elf did not seem to be ready to fight. He ran away when he saw Fael running fast.
Fael was too strong and too fast compared to the poor Elf. Just a few meters later, Fael had already run beside the Elf who was trying to escape.
Easily, Fael slashed the neck of the last Elf.
When finished with his work. Fael looked around.
“Luckily they don't have Elf witches.” Think Fael.
Fael now knows how much stronger the enemy Elves are just classy soldiers. They had indeed grown stronger, yet were still too weak to match Fael.
While waiting for Eleanor and Glynka, Fael examined the body of the Elf that was not charred by Eleanor's fire.
He sensed the strange Mana energy residing in the bodies of the enemy's corpses.
“Is that Mana energy that makes their bodies darken and makes their skin purple?” Fael thought as he scratched the corpse before him with a twig in his hand.
At that moment, Fael got a shock and immediately threw the twig he used to examine the Elf corpse.
