Chapter 78 - Social Circles In The Academy

As Ren did not return his greeting, Gordon ended up sitting in one of the seats.

“You're busy, buddy? Why don't you tell me?” gordon said with a grin, watching Ren eat his food voraciously.

"Is the food in his house not worth it?" thought Gordon while looking at Ren with a look of disdain.

With Gordon, there's another student with a haughty face. She's a famous student that's been talked about by all the new students, besides the student with the best record.

Ren did not know if he was indeed born with such a face, or because of his innate family status.

Ren only glanced at her for a moment before staring at Gordon, nodding once, then looking back at the food before him.

“Luke, sit down for a minute" Gordon asked his new friend politely. He then glanced at Ren, "Include me, he's my acquaintance. He's from the suburbs. Awesome, right? He can enter the Academy even though he comes from there.”

Gordon then looked at Ren with a gaze as if he was assessing what response Ren would give from his words.

However, Ren only raised his head for a while, and he did it to look at Luke. After nodding once, he refocused on his lunch while finally occasionally glancing at Gordon who he felt was staring at him sharply.

Seeing that Ren seemed undisturbed and also unconcerned despite being insinuated, Gordon snorted while smiling faintly.

Ren looked at that smile and could understand what it meant by his smile. However, he did not care about it.

‘Is mocking others his hobby?'

“I'm Luke, nice to meet you.” Luke introduced himself.

Ren turned to Luke, “Ren. Nice to meet you too.” Ren slowly.

Since that person finally introduced himself first, Ren inevitably had to respond.

"What family are you from?" Luke asked while furrowing his brows.

Gordon laughs.

"His name is just Ren. One word. Unique right?" gordon laughed again.

"I'm not a newcomer. The natives here, sometimes do not have a surname behind their name." Ren said, cutting off Gordon's laugh that he knew was mocking him.

Gordon advanced his body and propped it up with both of his hands leaning against the table. He then spoke again to Ren, “Luke is the son of the Association chairman. You better be nice to her. Don't you aspire to be an Association Hunter?”

Ren was silent. He did dream of becoming an Association Hunter and working there at least as a team of miners. Nevertheless, he did not want to do so because of the help of the connection.

“What do you mean?” Luke looked at Gordon with a displeased look, “My father will not accept members just because of the connection. One must truly have the ability to join the Association.”

Luke said so while looking at Ren directly with a haughty look. It was the gaze of rejection that he showed directly.

‘What the hell are they talking about? Is this a planned conversation? They kind of intentionally insinuate me.’

Ren sighed softly while putting a piece of bread into his mouth. He then sipped the herbal soup from his bowl in a loud voice, which he was indeed intending to, without caring for the two people in front of him.

Seeing Ren's actions, Gordon guesses that his innuendo has succeeded.

“Oh sorry... I forgot you have to eat to replenish energy so as not to lose weight in the second lesson later.” Gordon said as he looked at Ren with a worried face, which Ren knew was deliberately made up.

At that moment, a sweet girl approached them.

“Gordon, you left me!” Umpat the new student who came while putting on his face.

But when he saw who the man sitting next to Gordon was, he immediately changed his attitude and greeted the man. “Oh.. hello Luke. You here too apparently?”

Luke looked at the student for a long time while smiling broadly. He looked at Gordon.

Gordon seemed to understand the purpose of Luke's gaze, he then introduced the student to Luke. “Oh, meet Belinda from the Claes family. She's my girlfriend.”

“Aw..!”

Belinda hit Gordon's arm with her fist. However, he seemed to be smiling sumringah.

“What-apan?” protest Gordon.

“Can join?” belinda asked, without regard to the protest Gordon had made over his blow.

Belinda sat down even though they had not responded.

“It's nice to meet you. I'm Luke, from the Stewart family.”

“Stewart? Association Chairman?” Belinda immediately responded with her radiant gaze.

Luke nodded with a smile. A proud smile that made Ren somewhat disgusted upon seeing her.

Being among the top 3 kids made Ren feel a little uncomfortable. But it would not be polite for him to suddenly leave them. So he sat there quietly while continuing to eat his lunch.

Ren also noticed the gazes of the students who happened to be in the park. Ren knew, their gazes were on Luke.

Ren actually knows who Luke is. First-year students with a C rating, ranked highest among all first-year students who averaged only F and E ratings.

In fact, the rank Luke had was already on the same level as the instructors.

Aside from being the son of the chairman of the Association, Luke is also famous for his special training in America.

People were convinced, he was following the learning in the Academy just as a formality to obtain a license.

“It's nice to meet you Luke. Didn't expect to meet Stewart family members here.” Belinda said with her cheerful face.

Of course, being able to become a family acquaintance of an Association leader was a very profitable thing.

“Oh... what's your name?” ask Belinda. Belinda's eyes, facial features and smile instantly changed when Gordon said that the man was his old acquaintance.

Belinda instantly understood the meaning of the word ‘old introduction of’ that Gordon spoke. Gordon's old acquaintance means a beginner Hunter-hunter from the bottom.

‘Do I have to move?’

This time Ren really felt uncomfortable. Although the three students did not insult him directly, but from their gestures, gazes and facial expressions, it was clear that the three were underestimating him.

However, he is still a teenager who usually has high self-esteem, who does not want to be looked at one eye by other teenagers as he is currently experiencing.

However, he was uncomfortable if he had to make a bad impression on a child of the Association chairman.
