The Hokage Ryos Path

The Hokage Ryos Path
Chapter 37: Ninjutsu Water Element

"Son, you can't do it?" After learning about the prophecy of the Frog of the Great Sage, Jiraya vows to train Ryo and guide him.

However, Ryo never thought that this "guide" would revolve around him doing Push-ups on Mount Myoboku.

Ryo never really did any strength training with such intensity. For the first time, he didn't even manage to do 200 push-ups. That is the number that many non-Ninja children in this world have, let alone children from large families who start training at the age of 3.

Yamanaka are a family known for their spiritual power. To perform their distinctive techniques, they work a lot on chakra purification, spiritual practice, and Ninjutsu training. They don't have much time for physical exercise.

Most of Ryo's training was based on speed, and even his Lightning Chakra mode was focused on that. The same goes for Chidori and its derivatives.

After that, the Rasengan appeared, a technique that also revolved around a quick spin.

And then there's his work on his ice technique. He focused on distinguishing between physical, spiritual and natural energies. That was how he could make Ice without consuming Chakra, something that had previously been considered impossible.

Just looking at Ryo's previous experience made it easy to figure out his main flaws. What he needs most right now is physical exercise.

He could also benefit later in life from learning more Water release and Wind release techniques. But now the more urgent thing is to improve his physical quality.

"Faster boy, run!" Lying on her back, Jiraya saw Ryo running back and forth. To help Ryo with his physical form, they often return to Konoha to get more food and food pills.

With this, over the next 6 months, Ryo's physical strength and endurance improved substantially under Jiraya's guidance. The most important impact of this increase that he discovered was that the amount of Chakra he had increased drastically.

Ryo's chakra finally reaches Jonin's level. In Manga, 12-year-old Naruto has 100 times more Chakra than Kakashi. Ryo eventually reached 1% of Chakranya at that age.

In the year 41, Ryo spent half of it training his physique, and now he started learning water release techniques under Jiraya's guidance.

So far, Ryo has learned some water release techniques. Water Trumpets, Water Waves, and Water Walls were all techniques taught by his mother, Yamanaka Chinse.

Being one of the legendary Sannins, and having Ninjutsu as his forte, Jiraya really could not count how Justus he had learned over the years on the battlefield.

“So Son, has anyone taught you about the characteristics of water discharge?”

“No, the water that Justus learned is the water that my mother taught me.”

"good. So what characteristics do you think should be focused on when using water-based attacks?”

"Well, I think it's the state, the charge, and the pressure." Ryo answered after thinking for a while.

"Well, what states are there for water?"

Jiraya's questions were not difficult to answer in Ryo's previous world. Even schoolchildren know that water has three forms: solid, liquid, and gas. With the first being ice, the second being plain water, and the third being steam or fog.

Ryo tells Jiraya what she knows from the previous world, and Jiraya listens to her explanation.

“Batuk”... “You're a good boy! Now tell me what you know about pressure and water charge?”

Ryo shook his head. Although he had leaned on physics in his past life, he knew that in this world pressure could be seen in a completely different way. He wanted to hear what Jiraya would say about it from the point of view of a Ninja.

“The pressure of well water is basically determined by how much water is passing through a given space, relative to how compact that space is. Think of it like a high-pressure water pump. The firmer the pump, the stronger the force generated by the flow of water, and the more deadly it is. It's like the connection between how sharp the knife is and how deadly it is. That's how the 2nd Hokage made his [Water Severing Wave].”

Hearing Jiraya's explanation, Ryo understood how the Hozuki Clan's Water Gun Jutsu worked, and how Fakasaku killed Pain's chameleon.

“Great Siraya San, how about the role of the payload?”

“The benefits of mastering an attack are best realized in Jutsu [The Great Waterfall]. It simply refers to how much water is made with Chakra.”

Ryo opened his Sharingan. After Jiraya demonstrated her technique just once, she was able to catch it.

During the following month, and relying on the Sharingan, Ryo learns about Jutsu's 87 Jiraya water discharges.

Jiraya's repertoire of Jutsu is huge, and Ryo has learned most of Jutsu's water release with the exception of some S-rank Jutsu developed by the 2nd Hokage and a few others that he is not interested in.

The most important addition to Ryo's Justus water collection is Haku's [Secret Art of Water: A Thousand Needles of Death].

Although the water and Ice techniques were different at their core, learning the Yuki clan's water release technique should have inspired him with the Ice Element.

“Son, I almost taught you everything I know about the release of water. You've been training here for almost a year now. I haven't worked at Senjustu for too long. So now, you need to rely on yourself to develop further; and I will go back to work on my wise mode.”

It had been more than half a year since he started training with Jiraya. During that period, he gained a much better level of physical fitness, gained a lot of Chakra, and learned a lot of water release Jutsu. For all that, Ryo was very grateful to Jiraya for her guidance.

Over the next month, Ryo experimented with the effects of several Justus Water Elements, witnessing a correlation between the amount of pressure and the amount of destruction that Jutsu could inflict.

A real example is the Tobirama Water Breaker wave. When Ryo tried to freeze the Jutsu while throwing it, it turned into a sharp Ice Sword that could slice through the stone easily.

But after trying to freeze the Jutsu release water by relying on a charge, a large amount of frozen water is relatively slowly lowered by gravity. So Ryo decided to give up freezing that kind of Jutsu.

Of course, he had not learned how to change the shape of the water to its limit. And learning that, for now, is beyond his reach.

During these 6 months, Ryo also witnessed the growth of Gamahiro. His growth rate was completely out of this world.

In Manga, Naruto did not see Gamakichi for several months, and he grew to the size of Gamabunta.

The same could be said for Gamahiro, and Ryo witnessed this growth with his own eyes. From the smaller size of Gamakichi when the pain hit Konoha, to the enormous size of Gamabunta in just half a year.

Ryo could only wish him all the best.
