The Seirei Gensouki Spirit Chronicles

The Seirei Gensouki Spirit Chronicles
Chapter 1

After walking for a while, he realized he was being watched by someone. Rio stopped in his tracks and glanced around him, but there were so many people around him, he was unable to identify the source of that gaze. Is that just my imagination? Despite feeling uncomfortable, Rio continued walking.

After which, Rio finished his shopping quickly. With the false accusation of what was happening in the forest that was currently placed on his head, he wanted to avoid staying any longer than he had

are necessary. If possible, he wanted to leave Beltrum at noon. He had just finished buying weapons, clothes, and a backpack to store his belongings. He sold clothes

casual aristocrat he had worn for his travel funds. They are of high quality, and the price they sell reflects that.

Rio had finished changing into his new outfit: a black robe that made him seem like a rookie adventurer hired with simple funds. All that was left was to buy food supplies, though,

when …

“Hei.” Someone called Rio from behind. He turned around to see a man dressed like a criminal trying to peek behind his hood with a glare. Rio looked back at her doubtfully. Perhaps this was the person he felt was watching him before …

“What?”

“Aren't you a kid named Rio?”

“. If you're wrong, I'm somewhere.” Rio nearly faltered for a second before he tried to get rid of the topic. But the man stepped in front of her bravely, blocking her path.

“Now ... just hold your horses. Just now there was a wanted poster on the bulletin board for a brat named Rio. Being ‘Information Broker’ and so on, I realized it faster than anyone else. ”

(Tln: Information brokers are information traders who trade information widely and freely)

When he spoke, the man leaned forward with his eyes staring shamelessly at Rio face. Rio removed the trace of emotion from his face and stared back at the man.

“Hei. Cat you have a tongue? Why didn't you say something? ”

“Excuse me. I feel your stupid voice is inappropriate for my time. What does this have to do with me?” Rio asked, a calm voice as it restrained his boiling anger. The man smirked evilly.

“Well, frankly, the description of the boy on the desired poster matches your previous feature. You were originally wearing noble clothes, so I couldn't talk to you easily, but now you've changed your clothes into a hood that avoids people's attention. So, uh,

as a data broker, everything is suitable. That's why I'm talking to you. ”

“You're wrong.” Rio immediately denied the man's allegations.“Don't try to pretend. There aren't many black-haired boys around here. You're Rio, right? ”

“I'm not Rio,” Rio denied, then started walking away. But the man rushed to stop him.

“Hei wait!”

“Go.” Rio dropped a cold gaze on the man who grabbed his shoulder familiarly.

“K-hard head, right?”

“Because you were wrong.”

“... Cih, asshole, bad boy. Well, whatever. But, hey, looks like you're okay for yourself. How much money do you have? ”

It was just one question after another. The man continued to flap his tongue incessantly, but Rio found his motive with the last words. The goal is blackmail. He should have just reported Rio, but he foolishly let his greed mislead him. Well, it makes things better for me, Rio thought coldly.

“I'm tired of this. I'm fine using my right to attack you, understand?” Said Rio, grabbing the knife hidden on his waist threateningly.

The right to attack refers to the law under which the nobility had the power to attack the commoners who insulted them, on the spot, without trial. Of course, Rio was not a noble, but since he was dressed like that until before, he thought he could use the man's misunderstanding to threaten him immediately. As he predicted, fear flashed in the man's eyes.

“H-Heh, it was just a bluff. How about I call the army here now? We may be outside the city walls, but the security here is pretty good. There were not many of them, but they were still patrolling this area. It doesn't matter to me if the army comes, but you'll be in trouble, won't you?” The man asked in a high tone, as if he was trying to convince himself.

“Not really. Do you want to try?” Rio replied nonchalantly.

“K-You sure about that?”

“You don't have to check with me before you scream. We will see who gets into trouble once you do,” Rio replied kindly, making the man bite his lip. In the presence of such a big fish, the man felt troubled.

“... If you're done, I'll leave now.” With a cold nod at the frustrated expression on the man, Rio left, hiding himself among the crowd and heading towards the exit of the capital.

Three days had passed since Rio left the capital of Beltrant. He continued his journey eastward, aiming to go to the lands far away from the Yagumo region. By fully utilizing

his essence to improve his physical and body abilities, he had almost reached the neighboring country of Beltrum— Galarc Kingdom.

However, his almost supernatural speed would attract unwanted attention if he used the road, so he instead moved through the mountain forest. Because of that decision, the route

it became more difficult and unnecessary: there was a higher chance of encountering monsters and other dangerous ferocious beasts, resulting in fatigue accumulating in his physical body. However,

while Beltrum is wider horizontally, Galarc is wider vertically – this means that Rio will not need much time to cross the country horizontally.

To the east of the Galarc Kingdom was the Wilderness – vast area of land that was beyond human control. There was no road or map drawn from him, and the terrain itself was rough, so Rio foresaw a decrease in his movement speed when he reached that point. And while the Yagumo region is right outside

Wilderness, it is said that following a trailless path on foot can take years.

The ferocious beasts and monsters that could be encountered in the area were much more ferocious than those found in the Strahl region, making the journey itself life threatening. Despite this, Rio chose to go to Yagumo – he wanted to see the ancestral hometown his mother talked about in his childhood, building a grave for his parents, he said, and set up the complicated feelings stored in his heart.

Set aside all of that for now, though ... Right now, time has just passed until the afternoon. Rio will soon cross the border into Galarc Kingdom. I should check the road once. Maybe there's a city

nearest where I can stop. As soon as Rio came to that decision, he approached the tree

who towered nearby and climbed up his tall trunk in the blink of an eye. From above, he looked around and calculated his position using the sun.

He set his gaze in the direction he had to go, and saw a puff of smoke rising into the air in the distance. It was probably produced by a human settlement; the amount of smoke strongly indicated that it was a city. With a predetermined goal, Rio descended from the tree.

As soon as he safely stood up, he guessed the location of the road leading to the city and ran towards it. While he found a number of goblins and orcs along the way, he left them in the dust with incredible speed. It would be a waste of time and energy to stop and fight against

they were each, like fools, so what he did the most was intercept a pack of nimble wolves surrounding him as he passed by, as a warning.

Rio skillfully avoided the dense overgrowth as he ran with light footsteps. About ten minutes walking later, he saw a path that pierced through the forest.

He slowed down, stepped firmly on the ground to stop his momentum and headed for the road with a jump.

The road was about ten meters wide, which was enough for a horse carriage to pass through. Once he made sure that no one else was nearby, he set off at a speed that would not arouse suspicion if he were to be seen. About twenty to thirty minutes later, he arrived at his destination city.

The road to the city is occupied by carriages and visiting travelers on foot. Rio followed them from behind from a distance. The land near the city was scattered with wheat fields, vegetable farms, vineyards, pastures, and cattle pens; rio could see farmers working here and there. Then, after following the road for a while, the walls surrounding the city came into sight.

The city appears to be still under development, as there appears to be a section of the wall still being built. Rio could see some figures with a hard working spirit. I hope that my fugitive status has not reached Galarc .. When he looks at the people who are going from afar, Rio considered

the problems at the moment.

Currently, Beltrum and Galarc are allied. If the Beltrum Kingdom seeks action from Galarc, then the fugitive poster of Rio might have some validity in the country as well. And there is another thing to keep in mind: in the Strahl region, there are ancient artifacts known as enchanted airships. They can fly through the air at an average speed of a little under 50 knots, so it's possible that a notification of the situation has been made

reaching Galarc.

I should check the bulletin board near the city gate first. If everything seems fine, I'll go find some food. Then I had to send a letter to Professor Celia and tell her that I was safe.

He's actually short of food at the moment. The fugitive poster problem in the capital caused him to flee the country early, prioritizing his escape rather than buying more food. That was why he really had to fill up the supplies for his trip here in the Galarc Kingdom before he ventured into the Wilderness.

Rio readied himself and put on the hood of the robe he bought in Beltrum.
