The Seirei Gensouki Spirit Chronicles

The Seirei Gensouki Spirit Chronicles
Chapter 3

Yuba sighed tiredly. “Alright, I understand now. Is there anything else you want to add?” He asked everyone present. No one's talking.

“Then, this problem ends here. Gon, I'm sorry that Shin's misunderstanding caused the situation to get out of control. However, your actions were too hasty and rude. I will allow you to stay in the guest cabin on the outskirts of the village, but you are forbidden to go out arbitrarily. Understand?” Yuba gave him the decision in a tone that did not allow for any further objections.

“Good, whatever. Then, Madame Yuba. ” Gon sighed excessively and started walking away, with his group of followers rushing after he returned. They walked down the street that Rio and Yuba had just come to.

Hm? Was there anyone like this in the village before?

As he walked, Gon noticed there was an unknown person standing next to Yuba – Rio. He narrowed his eyes and examined the boy's face. Rio returned his gaze with a cold stare, noticing whether Gon would try and start something else.

Hmph. With such a delicate face, he might be another sissy. I don't like the look of it.

Seeing the way Rio looked back at him without hesitation made Gon slightly furrow his brows. But his expression immediately turned into an evil grin, as if he had suddenly come up with a fantastic idea.

Gon had walked with his shoulders upright, but he suddenly distracted him from his goal. He pretended not to be careful while veering off course and bumping into Rio at the last minute. Their upper bodies collided with each other.

“Ups, salahku— ?!”

Gon, who exceeded Rio both tall and heavy, gasped as if he were walking into a wall. The unexpected impact made him stumble to regain his footing, and he widened his eyes in shock.

“A-Are you okay, Mr Gon? What happened?” One of the men walking behind Gon asked with surprise in his eyes. He couldn't see what was happening from behind.

“Eh? Ah ... ” Gon is still a little dazed. He looked between his body and Rio's body in comparison, unable to understand what had happened.

“I know your muscles are tight enough, but it looks like your long journey is making you tired. The sun is about to set: may you advise to rest in your inn to rest?” Rio said eloquently, giving a sincere smile with no emotions at all.

“... Cih. Let's go, everybody. ” Looks like Gon sensed something strange with Rio, but convinced himself that it was just his imagination. That was how confident he was in his own physical strength.

With his followers behind him, Gon left at this moment. After their group had completely disappeared from sight, the youths and village girls immediately eased all their tension at once, and heaved a sigh of relief collectively.

.

“Saddening. All this unnecessary commotion,” Yuba sighed in despair.

“N-Grandma. Shin and the others were just trying to protect us. So, umm, don't blame them too much, okay?” Ruri tried to defend them hastily.

“I know that, of course. I think the one who caused the commotion was probably that wild kid. After his parents gave up on him, he never received proper discipline lessons, and only used his cunning to survive, so he was quite a troublemaker. Even so, these boys are also guilty of being irritable.” Yuba glared at Shin and the others.

“Ugh ..” After quite a rush to land the first blow, not to mention being beaten on top of that, Shin and the others felt guilty and were unable to resist Yuba.

“For now, I want each of you to go home without any more fuss. I forbid them to come out, but don't let your guard down. Tell others in your neighborhood, too. And make sure you tell me immediately if there is anything unusual,” Yuba instructed, making everyone exchange glances before they timidly agreed.

After a while, the girls returned to the bath to finish changing clothes, then went back out. With their preparations complete, everyone began to move and walk home.

However, two people remained frozen where they stood. It was Shin and Sayo. Sayo still looked frightened after the previous incident, as her body was still slightly trembling.

.

“... Hey, grandma. I have a request. Can you let Sayo stay at your place tonight? As you know, only we stayed in our house, and I fooled myself before. Our place is not far from where those people live, so she might feel anxious as well, so .. She would feel better if she stayed with Ruri and Grandma and … I suppose. ” Shin frowned in embarrassment as he lowered his head at Yuba. He glanced at Rio for a moment, but immediately shifted his gaze again. Yuba seemed to be surprised by this, as her eyes widened slightly.

“Oh? Whatisthis? It's strange to see such an admirable attitude coming from you, even if it's for Sayo's sake. Is being beaten a good lesson for you?” He laughed sincerely at Shin.

“D-Shut! I was too excited earlier and caused some trouble, but not that! Are you going to let him stay or what?” Shin objected, flushed red.

“Sure, I don't mind. You're right anyway. Sayo, stay where we are tonight.” Yuba gave her permission and looked at Sayo, who stood still in fear.

“Hah? Ah ... Is this okay? ” Sayo asked in confusion.

“It's okay. Judging from your circumstances, you will be too afraid to sleep alone after all. Sleep with Ruri tonight. ... Oh, or do you want to sleep with Rio alone?” Yuba asked lazily and nodded with a wry smile.

“... A-I'm fine! I'll sleep with Ruri!” Sayo blushed, shaking her head angrily. He looked a little more like his usual self.

.

“Is that so? Then, okay. As for you, Shin – you can stay here tonight as well. Gon might hold a grudge against you specifically. ”

“I ... Alright, then. Thank you.” Shin hesitated for a moment, but eventually nodded obediently.

“OK, we need two more plates for dinner! Let's cook, huh? ” Yuba said, trying to brighten the atmosphere, before entering the house in high spirits.

“Good. Let's go, everyone,” said Ruri, looking at the other three.

“I'll help cook rice!” Sayo offered excitedly.

“I have some business to take care of, so please come back without me,” Rio said, voicing his intention to stay outside.

“Hah? business?” Ruri asked in confusion.

“I want to set up some security measures, just in case.”

“Hmm? Then, you ... please do?”

“Ya, leave it to me.” Ruri did not seem to understand, but Rio gave her a tense smile and nodded.

“Alright then. We don't want to get in your way, so we'll go first. You too, Shin. ”

“...Yes.” Shin looked like he wanted to say something more to Rio, but walked away hesitantly over Ruri's call.
