The other members of their group moved as soon as Sara gave the order. As they encounter an approaching swarm of wyverns, each warrior unleashes their most powerful special spirit art. However, since many of the spirit users present were flying types, most of those present specialized in wind abilities.
Spirit art can manipulate natural phenomena, but the laws of nature can only be influenced, not completely dominated. Depending on the strength of the spirit art user, one could disregard the laws of nature to produce unnatural phenomena. As the village warriors used their spirit arts, the surrounding wind blew fiercely, attacking the flying dragon with air explosions launched from the blades of wind and ode.
However, even if they managed to hit the wyvern skin, they had no effect other than a mild physical attack. At best, it slowed them down a bit. There was not much to be done about the large skeleton of what was an example of a typical sub-species ten meters tall. The spirit art of the angina element has a wider range of uses and is more adaptable compared to other elements, but it also has much less power. Especially in cases where the opponent had such a large body, in most circumstances, large-scale spirit arts should be used not to lose.
“Cih, we can't use high-powered spirit arts when we fly! Spread out! Form a pair so that one can act as a decoy as the other maximizes their physical improvement and aims to place their protector weakest!” Uzuma ordered, causing the soldiers to spread out. Meanwhile, Sara's group has attracted the attention of one of the Black Wyverns.
“I can see why they call it the closest sub-species to a pure dragon. I've heard that true dragons have a special skin that completely resists ode... These flying dragons seem to have a similar effect,” Alma said with a bitter smile. The girls had already fired spirit arts at Black Wyvern to confirm their suspicions, noting that they were unable to deal much damage.
“Is there no more effective method, Alma?!” Sara asked, turning to look at Alma as she rode on Ariel's back.
“This is a simple strategy, but we can only attack with spirit arts that bring more physical effects. Rather than using an ode to materialize energy and give it a physical shape, doing so in this way would reduce the power difference by a little. I'll take the one below .. Can you two handle the one in the air? ”
“We have no choice .. Understand. We're handing over the land unit to you, Alma! ”
“Sara, please lend me Hel. We will fight in coordination with my Ifritah. ”
(Tln: their contracted spirits)
“Understanding. Hel, help Alma!” Sara said, raising a silver wolf in the air that turned towards the ground.
“Thank you very much. May the luck of the war bless you!” Alma said, jumping off Ariel's back and calling “Ifritah,” spirits with shapes similar to lions. He jumped and fell down. As soon as the four-meter-long lion and wolf landed safely, they dashed towards the Black Wyvern while roaming the ground.
◇◇◇
As soon as Black Wyvern obliterated the trees with his tail, Latifa was blown away by the force of the wind. He was flown ten meters into the air, but he managed to catch himself, thanks to his skeleton of light. In the worst-case scenario, he would hit the tree trunk in the back.
“Uugh ..” Despite his ordeal, he somehow managed to stand up, and ran to escape.
“Graaaah!”
“Eek ?!”
Black Wyvern roared, making Latifa's body tremble with a jolt. He glanced over from his shoulder just in time to see the beast open its huge mouth and take a deep breath. Air flowed into his lungs, slightly expanding his torso. Then, fireworks exploded from his mouth as Black Wyvern exhaled all of them at once. The searing heat lines spread outwards, burning trees and trying to completely envelop Latifa's entire body. But, just like it will make a direct attack –
“Latifa?!” Alma meandered through the gap and appeared, slamming the mace in his hand onto the ground with a powerful force. The ground rose high, forming thick walls to protect the two of them.
“A-Alma!” Latifa hugged Alma, overwhelmed with emotion.
“H-Hey! We are in the middle of a battle now. Why are you so far here? Wait, let me go first. It's not over – is coming! Get on Hel's back, quick! ”
“O-OK!” Latifa hurriedly climbed to the back of Sara's contract spirit. Meanwhile, Alma returns to the spirit of his contract Ifritah once again. As soon as the two safely ascended, the wolf and lion spirits leapt high into the air, just as the earth wall that Alma had created shattered into pieces.
Black Wyvern's tail emerged from the rubble, and Hel's wolf leaped into the air and spouted an ice-cold breath at the beast. Soon after, the lion form of Ifritah attacked in the same way as breathing fire. Combined with the attacks of ice and fire – once Black Wyvern's body was exposed to a dramatic change in temperature, Alma jumped off Ifritah's back, descending towards the wyvern. He improved his physical body with spirit arts, and swung his staff. Black Wyvern roared, whipping his tail towards Alma as he leapt there. Alma's mace and Black Wyvern's tail collided with each other in a shrill voice.
“Kuh, it's not enough to finish it?!” Alma frowned, using the retreating attack from the impact to jump backwards. After landing on the ground, he looked at the Black Wyvern's tail to check for damage, but it was still completely unharmed.
“A-Alma, let's run! You can't win against him .. there's no way!” Latifa shouted from Hel's back.
“No! If I escape, the village will be – kya! ” Black Wyvern won't wait for Latifa and Alma to finish their conversation; the jet-black dragon waved its tail furiously, directing its attack on Alma in particular. Alma jumped in the air and dodged the attack, but there was no chance for him to launch a counterattack.
“Alma ?! Hel, Ifritah, help Alma out! I will too!” Latifa rules. Hearing that, Hel and Ifritah ran over. Latifa leaped from Hel and rushed towards Alma. Honestly, she was afraid of – but seeing Alma being attacked made her unable to stay silent anymore.
“L-Latifa! You don't have to come here! ”
“A-It's okay, I can fight too! H-hey you! Here!” Latifa approached Black Wyvern and provoked,
made him divert the target of the attack on her. At that time, Ifritah lifted Alma on his back and temporarily retreated to the safe zone. Hel supports Latifa as she confronts Black Wyvern, helping to distract her. From what Alma could see, Latifa used her movement of light to dodge the fierce attack of the Black Wyvern. But he can't keep this up forever.
“Kuh .. Ifritah! You help Latifa and Hel distract the enemy. I will use that time to prepare for large-scale spirit arts!” Alma ordered after a moment of hesitation. Defeating Black Wyvern would require an extremely high-powered spirit art, but there was nothing he could activate right then and there. He needed all the help he could get, so he was grateful for their efforts in buying time.
“Latifa, give me a little time, but without harming yourself! Back off as soon as I signal! ”
“O-OK! … Kya ?! ” Just as Alma gave her instructions, Black Wyvern changed his attack pattern. It had only used its tail to attack until now, but this time, it suddenly leapt forward. That disorganized action made Latifa freeze for a moment, but that was when she needed to. Latifa would be destroyed by its weight.
Just as Alma was thinking about that, an ice ball seven to eight meters wide came from behind him, colliding with the body of Black Wyvern, which violently smashed back into the jet-black dragons. Immediately after, a gust of angina blew past Alma, heading straight for Latifa.
“Hah..?” Latifa let out a slightly dumbfounded voice. She thought her body became lighter for a moment .. But before she realized it, she was hugged tightly by the most precious person – Rio.
“Sorry, I'm late, Latifa,” Rio apologized with a rather dark expression on his face.
“No problem. I'm sorry too. For ... escape ..” Latifa blinked blankly for a moment, before that expression turned into a steady stream of tears as she apologized to Rio.
“We'll talk later. Everything is fine now – you can retreat,” Rio said, smiling as he patted his head and lowered it to the ground.
He was halfway through when he rushed to intervene, so he was without a weapon. But Rio showed no doubt as he stared coldly at Black Wyvern, which towered far above his head. Soon after, he moved. Jumping high into the air at an incredible speed, he kicked Black Wyvern's chin from just below.
a slash kick with the outer tip of his foot to the opponent's neck. The jet-black demi-dragon staggered, taking a stumbling step to one side.
“The skin is very hard .. I don't think it will be that easy,” Rio said, frowning slightly in the air. He had kicked it with the intention of crippling it, but the attack did little to damage Black Wyvern.
“Graaaah!” Black Wyvern rampaged, directing fire breaths towards his opponent. However, Rio stuck his left hand outwards and released a gust of wind, diverting the incoming fire breath. The flames that had just left Black Wyvern's mouth flowed back.
“Gyreeh?!” The jet black demi-dragon squealing in pain – it seems like the fire directed into his mouth is his weakness.
Rio grinned and launched a huge fireball into Black Wyvern's mouth. At the same time, he used the angina spirit art to jump smoothly in the air and move above the opponent's head. He put both hands together, and swung them with all his might. With a loud bang, Black Wyvern's mouth slammed shut, and a huge explosion occurred inside afterwards.
A large amount of heat and shockwave energy was produced within his mouth, and Black Wyvern
shaking his head strongly when bending backwards. Dark blood began to fill in his angry eyes; it staggered for a while, before collapsing to the ground.
“A-Outstanding. You defeated him easily .. ” Muttered Alma in astonishment, after watching Rio easily defeat the ferocious beast alone, without the need for help.
“It looks like the inside of his mouth is his weakness. Thankfully it is easy to know,” Rio said with a bitter smile, and landed gently on the ground beside him.
“No, even if that's the case ..” Alma replied in surprise. The opponent was over 20 meters in size; it was no small feat to get close enough to the face to shoot inside. A person can be easily crushed by his jaw and eaten.
“Onii Chan!” With a quick glance at Alma's astonished state, Latifa jumped at Rio.
“Oh, looks like they're done there too.” Receiving the power of Latifa's embrace with her entire body, Rio looked at the sky with a faint smile on his lips.
Alma also looked up. There, the soldiers shouted triumphantly at the dragon sub-species
the scattered ones who tried to escape. The other Black Wyverns were still alive, but escaped, along with a much lower number of relatives than when they were first attacked. Then, Orphia and Sara (the latter still on Ariel's back), descend from the top.
“Alma, you are amazing! How did you beat him? … Oh Rio and Latifa are also here?” Orphia started talking happily as she looked at Black Wyvern on the ground, before she looked at Rio and Latifa with widened eyes.
“Rio beat Black Wyvern alone,” Alma admitted with a forced smile.
“Eh, alone ?! That's just amazing! I'm not surprised – besides it's Rio!” Orphia praised with a shining smile.
“No, it's nothing. Hey, is anyone hurt by your side?” Rio shifted the topic with a timid smile.
“We're all fine. It might be more dangerous if the battle continued, but fortunately, the others all escaped
self,” Sara explained after landing.
“Sara, why do you think the wyvren in the air run?” Alma asked.
“Maybe because Black Wyvern over there was defeated. Although we cannot defeat the remaining ones, this is all thanks to Rio. Thank you very much.” Sara replied, bowing her head towards Rio.
“Nothing .. Besides I'm Latifa's sister, and everyone's friend.” Shaking his head timidly, Rio shrugged a small shoulder.

“Hah ... Hah .. Hah ..”
The boy ran through the forest, gasping for breath. Griffin and his travel gear were gone, and all that was left was the clothes on his back and the weapons in his hands. He was alone in this huge forest, with no idea where to go or what to do.
“Why rush?” Someone appeared from sight and asked the boy in a calm voice. The boy looked around in panic, but could not find the owner of his voice.
“I'm here,” the voice said from above. The boy raised his head and saw Reiss floating in the air.
“A-Aaah .. T-Master. Reiss ?! ”
“So you actually managed to survive the situation .. To be honest, I was surprised,” said Reiss, sounding impressed when he landed on the ground.
“A-What do you mean ‘actually’ ?! Are you watching all the time ?!” the boy shouted furiously,
no matter how Reiss flew through the air, or the politeness of his own words.
“Heh. Contrary to expectations, your true personality was so disgusting, I was inadvertently lured. They say a person's original color is revealed when their life is in danger ... and it seems they are right.” Hearing those words, the boy's self-control changed rapidly.
“C-Quite your bullshit! I almost died! You're the one who brought me to this shitty place .. So, sorry! How are you going to pay for this ?! I will not forgive you!”
“Heh. Heheheh.you're an interesting person, so this is embarrassing. Are you sure you want that to be your last words? ” Reiss asked with an arrogant smile. He held a small, clear, jewel-like stone between the thumb and forefinger of his right hand.
“H-Huh? Is there something wrong with your head? Give me the jewel-” the boy went berserk, and Reiss smashed the jewel between his fingers. An expression of pain suddenly appeared on the boy's face, and he knelt down.
“Goodbye.” With those words, Reiss rose into the sky once more.
