The Seirei Gensouki Spirit Chronicles
Chapter 5: Misunderstanding

“I can suddenly use it one day.”

“...What?” Rio's honest answer made Ursula's eyes widen.

“Is it unusual?”

“Hum. Humans have far less talent towards spirit arts than spirit people to begin with. Under normal circumstances, at least. Don't say ..” Ursula said, before looking at Rio meaningfully.

“Is there a problem?”

“No, it's not a problem .. anyway it shouldn't be. I would like to hear more about that as well, if possible. I promise to answer the questions you have about us as well. ”

“Please do. Also, I would really appreciate it if you could lend me something to wear to me, Rio said, glancing at the deep-clothed figure under the blanket. Ursula took a deep breath.

“... I'm sorry again. They will be brought to you soon. Along with some medications, as you may already be sick. Orphia, Alma's. Prepare them, now. ”

“Y-Yes, Mom!” Orphia and Alma nodded in unison and rushed out of the room.

After Rio changed, moved the room, and introduced himself, he explained the reason he brought Latifa. He explains that he has moved from Strahl to Yagumo, that he was attacked on the street by Latifa, a slave controlled by the Collar of Submission, who is a slave, and that Latifa decided to follow him after he let go, and so on.

Latifa – is the only one who can prove the truth of her story – may already be tired of small talk, as she fell asleep on Rio's lap when he spoke. However, his attachment to Rio was the biggest proof they could offer.

As their discussion progressed, Rio explained the reason why he decided to set foot into the large forest that housed the people spirit village. That is, the fact that he wants the spirit of the people to take the werebeast – Latifa – this, and protect it.

“Uzuma's. Because of your hasty actions, you have committed the greatest insult to the benefactor who sought to protect one of us. Do you have something to say for yourself? ” After hearing the whole story, Ursula turned to Uzuma with a sharp look.

“Umm .. When I heard that Miss Latifa was put to sleep by spirit arts, I thought that human ... that she must have kidnapped her, and flew into a rage.” Uzuma explained her side of the story with a flushed face, sweating profusely.

“From what I have heard, you attacked her while in the middle of the negotiations without calmly hearing what Riosama said. Why don't you wait until he's done talking? ”

(Tln: I changed the translation of “Lord” which was originally “Tuan” to “-sama”)

“A-I was too angry .. And as long as there was a possibility of kidnapping, I had to prepare for the worst case scenario and secure the safe rescue of Miss Latifa ..” Uzuma curled up as she spoke, shrinking backwards. In fear.

Given how urgent the situation is, Uzuma's actions are not to blame entirely. Anyone would jump to the conclusion of a kidnapping if they met an armed stranger, trespassing on their territory, with a young girl of their own species made to sleep by spirit arts.

In addition, there is a danger of Latifa being used as hostages if they move too slowly. But only because Uzuma's reaction was not completely

wrong does not mean he has done the right thing. Reality does not have a clear solution such as a numerical formula.

“Ma-forgive me, Chief Elder! A-You can punish me as you like, if need be!” Unable to hold back the mood in the room and his own guilt, Uzuma finally cracked and turned to apologize.

“Hmph-deep. Don't you think you've been mistaken with whom your apology should be addressed? ”

“Rio-sama! I am truly sorry .. ” Uzuma suddenly knelt on the ground, throwing her forehead to the floor in front of her. In other words, dogeza .

(Tln: Dogeza is a traditional Japanese etiquette that involves kneeling directly on the ground and bending over to prostrate an apology while touching the head to the floor)

So the spirit of the people also has a dogeza culture .. Rio's eyes widened slightly at that. While he was unsure whether his actions bore the same weight as dogeza in Japan, his apologetic intentions were clear.

“M-Please accept my apology as well. Rio-sama, I am very sorry for what happened!” Following the lead of Uzuma, Sara, Orphia, and Alma all kneeled in succession.

“... I'd be lying if I said I wasn't distracted, but I accepted your apology.

I myself may lack consideration when I step into your territory without a second thought.”

Uncomfortable with having a daughter the same age and older who lowered her legs, Rio

decide to accept their apology and be done with it. It was also not a good idea to ruin their relationship from now on.

“Rio-sama, please accept my apology as well. I promised to make Uzuma responsible for her behavior. The girls there will also face scolding from me,” Ursula said, making Sara and the others flinch.

“Yes I understand. So please, everybody, put your head up. I will be confused if you guys stay like this again,” Rio said with a forced smile on Sara and the others who were still bowing on the floor.

“Rio-same. The village elders will gather tomorrow morning and offer you an official apology. You must be tired tonight. Please rest with Miss Latifa in this room,” suggested Ursula as she glanced at the girls who slowly rose to their feet.

“Then I will do just that.”

“Good. I'll prepare an officer for you too. Do not hesitate to tell us if you

need something.”

“No, no. Thanks for the consideration.”

On the way out, Uzuma and the three girls bowed deeply, prompting Rio to lightly nod his head at them. Just before she left the room, Ursula sent Latifa an affectionate gaze. Then, Rio shifted Latifa from his lap to the bed, before lying next to her.

Shortly after Rio fell asleep ..The village elders gathered in the council room on the top floor of their town hall.

“... And that's the general summary of this incident. I believe it would be worth offering to

Rio-sama official apologies and gifts to show our gratitude for saving Miss Latifa and protecting her. Does anyone mind?”

After Ursula explained the events that happened, she looked around the room of the elders from

where he sits. There were two other elders in the room, sitting to his left. The others all used conflicting expressions.

“I can't believe anyone objected to that apology and gift. But, because we have no knowledge of how human culture works, our general practices may not be delivered as intended. What we should apologize for and thank him is another issue to consider,” said the – elf chairman an old man sitting in the middle of three seats with Ursula.

Since they are all different species from humans completely, there are significant differences in terms of their fundamental values. In fact, it was the difference in values that caused them to separate themselves from humans over the course of history. That is why they want to avoid expressing their gratitude in the wrong way and causing some sort of displeasure.

“Then why don't we ask the child himself? We can give him anything he wants, as long as it is still within our capabilities,” suggested the dwarf chairman from where he was sitting right on the right.

“Don't you think it's too cocky, Dominic?” said the male elf. He saw dwarf – Dominic –

beside him.

What Dominic meant was to issue a blank check for Rio to write down the amount he wanted. But if it was an amount that they could not afford, they would be in trouble by appearing more rude and ungrateful to him. Room buzzing.

“Although that is the case, we cannot just express our gratitude with just words. We owe that much to Rio-sama because we have neglected. I believe there were some exclamations at Dominic's words, all of them,” Ursula said, staring at the other elders.

The old elf nodded gracefully. “Yah .. I guess.” The other elders in the room reluctantly voiced their agreement as well.

Everyone present acknowledged that it was true to pay back Rio in some form or another, but the reason why they were so wary of him was mostly due to their prejudice about humans. With the problems between their species deep-rooted in their history, this is one thing that cannot be avoided.

“Yap ... must avoid humans at all costs. I understand why everyone is feeling alert, but this one is good enough to save one of our brothers from slavery and guide him all the way to us from the Strahl region. From what I heard, we returned the favor in bad blood. He is definitely not the type of brat who demands we offer him to be a slave .. Is that right, Ursula? ”

“Indeed, I can guarantee that. He is an affectionate and reasonable child,” Ursula said firmly on Dominic's question.

“So, how about it, Syldora?”

“...Alright. Does anyone mind?” The elf elder Syldora nodded and looked at the other elders, but no one stepped forward, and the proposal was approved.

“Then to show our gratitude, we will go with the idea Dominic suggested. Does anyone else have any other points to raise? ”

“Hmm. Then can I? ” Ursula hand-picked.

“Of course. You are the one most involved with this incident outside the council of elders,” Syldora welcomed him

with nods.

“I want to discuss the topic Miss Latifa. Although I'm not entirely sure, I do believe that

her upbringing as a slave has resulted in what I consider mental fragility.

That fragility has manifested itself in the form of dependence on Rio-sama. If

we received it inside our group, we will ask Rio-sama to stay in the village also – at least until he calms down, I think. ”

“Ah .. In that case, preparations need to be made for lodging and caregivers. We should too

explain the situation to the villagers ... and of course get the boy's approval.” Dominic scratched his head at Ursula's words; syldora and Ursula opened their mouths nonstop.

“We can hand over her upbringing to the apprentice temple girl. Fortunately, they have met

with him. It could act as their repentance for disturbing one such protector. ”

“Hm. In terms of lodging, there is an empty house on my property. They can stay there. I volunteered to be their guardian in the meantime. ” So, the discussion went smoothly, until …

“Hei. Do you guys have time? ”

A beautiful voice echoed clearly throughout the hall. Suddenly, a woman appeared in an empty place. She was a beautiful girl, and wore a dress decorated with delicate flowers. Her green hair was long enough to reach the floor, and her eyes were a glistening emerald. Her face was so beautiful, it almost seemed lifeless, yet she also emitted a warm aura about it.

“Y-Your Majesty ..” Once they saw him, all the elders in the room immediately knelt down at once.
