Episode 36 [Honesty Is Painful]

In the end, Ariana agrees to Mark's invitation to eat ice cream, but not only together, but with Emily also because she has returned home from school. Ariana tried to enjoy the moment, but she couldn't really enjoy all this because she was still thinking about how to explain this breakup to Emily. The talk of that time will not be enough, because now everything is different.

Does everything have to be said in a straightforward manner? Will Emily understand? What if Emily hates him? Why does this all feel so complicated?

All of those questions kept running through Ariana's mind until it made her lose focus and end up bumping into a middle-aged woman after exiting the ice cream shop. Ariana quickly apologized and was fortunate that the matter did not grow.

"Sorry, Mark, but I have to go home now. Thank you for buying us ice cream. Next time, I'll treat you, too." Ariana decided to return home because she was tired.

"Yes, I'll wait for him." Mark smiled at Ariana. Mark knew his efforts had failed. He could not at all reduce Ariana's grief.

Mark thought, this is the flaw. Although he loved Ariana sincerely for a long time, but he did not have a meaningful effort to make Ariana comfortable with him. In the past, he even let go of Ariana because of her mother's request, because her mother thought that Ariana could bring bad influence on her because her mother is famous as the destroyer of other people's households. Obviously Ariana is not what people think, but he was too timid at the time.

"Thank you Uncle Mark" Ariana told Emily.

"Thank you, Uncle. I really like the ice cream." Emily spoke so sweetly that it made Mark's smile widen.

"What next time you want to eat ice cream again?" ask Mark.

"Yes, I'm going to have ice cream with Mom and Dad. You're busy, so you can't be with me and Mom, but you'll be with us later, right, Mom?" Emily looked at her mother.

Ariana seemed confused as to what to answer, because she did not want to give an answer that would give Emily false hope. Ariana wants to make Emily slowly realize that something has changed now. Emily had to accept all of this, though it was painful, because a false hope would only give her a moment of pleasure, and then eventually become painful and disappointing.

"Emily, your father will remain your father and you will remain your mother, that will never change. However, we will not be together like before. That togetherness will be different now." Ariana tries to explain it to Emily with a sentence that she thinks is simple, but Emily does not seem to really understand all this.

"What's different?" ask Emily and Ariana again.

"Mother and father, we ..." Ariana seemed silent for a moment. Ariana found no other choice. It's time Emily was told what really happened.

"We have our own lives now. We're not together anymore." This sentence finally Ariana put out in front of Emily.

Emily seemed silent, as having each other's lives sounded quite confusing as she had never heard of anything like it before. "Mom, I don't understand." Emily looked shaken.

"You might be able to find the right time to talk about all this. I don't think it's the right time" Mark said.

"I have delayed too long and realized that the right time does not exist. We are simply not ready or too afraid to talk, so look for excuses by finding the right time. I had to stop giving Emily false hope" Ariana replied, then she crouched down in front of Emily.

Ariana grabbed Emily's hand and held it tightly. "Emily, listen to me carefully. Mom and Dad have separated. We no longer live together. Some things will feel different, but you'll still be father and mother's son." Ariana tried to give the best possible explanation.

Emily, who Yuri had feared about the separation between her parents, is now seen crying. "Why separated? I just told Grandma, did Grandma tell you? Did Mom and Dad split up because I told you a story? I won't say it again" Emily said as she continued to cry.

Mark doesn't know what Emily means. What story would make him think that it would make his parents separate? Mark doesn't understand, but his heart aches when he sees Emily crying. Emily must still be confused by all of this, but Ariana also seems to avoid telling the details of her problem with Kevin which makes them separate.

"It's not like that. We split up because it was his decision. Let's go home and talk again at home." Ariana lifted Emily's body and had to say goodbye to Mark before finally leaving.

"If only I could help Ariana solve this problem," muttered Mark who was still staring at Ariana.

Since the incident at the bar, Eric found it difficult to meet with Ariana, in addition to fear of facing Ariana after he crossed the line, Eric was also so busy with his work and the wedding to be held next week. Today, after returning from Paris on business, Eric hears that Ariana and Kevin are officially divorced. Eric heard the news from Hana who was currently drinking with him.

If Kevin and Ariana have officially parted ways, then doesn't that mean open opportunities for him? But, did Ariana still want to be close to him after that incident? God, Eric really regretted all that. She should have been Ariana's back in the hardest moments of her life, not let her down.

"It's good that they're divorced, so I can get a chance." Eric smiled, then sipped his drink.

"I know you're a jerk, but you're getting married next week. Ariana won't want to be with you after what happened back then either" Hana replied.

"We won't know until we try, right? I was thinking of canceling my wedding. Why marry if there is no love? Those who love each other can get divorced, especially those who do not love?"

Hana doesn't believe that she has two friends who can be so dickhead like Kevin and Eric. "Whatever, just do whatever you want. Fuckers are like that, right?"

"You're so rude. You should have told Kevin that."

"I also want to .." Hana's sentence was restrained after she saw someone's presence. "Kevin is here" continued Hana.

Eric followed Hana's gaze and he saw Kevin sitting at the bartender's table. Kevin looks messy and pathetic after his divorce, but Eric thinks it's appropriate for him. He's the one playing with fire, but now he's acting like he's the victim.

"Your relationship doesn't seem like it's good, so it's better if we don't join it. Kevin may also need some time alone" Hana said, but Eric approached Kevin just after he finished speaking.

Hana tries to stop Eric, but it's useless because Eric is now sitting next to Kevin. For God's sake, Hana felt that there would be something bad going on. Two friends who had gotten along, now became at odds because of a woman. Even the problem was brought to the job where Eric stopped the cooperation because Kevin was considered to have defamed the company.

Kevin's face changed immediately after seeing Eric. Kevin has an unfinished problem with Eric, but he has lost the strength to fight with the man. Kevin just hopes that Eric won't appear in front of him again.

"Congratulations to your divorce and I'm waiting for your wedding invitation with the maid. I told you, Ariana is not a stupid woman." However, Eric instead said something that made Kevin angry.

"Bring your friend away or he'll know the consequences." Kevin spoke to Hana who was standing next to Eric.

"Let's go and give Kevin some time alone." Hana tries to pull Eric away, but the man doesn't move a bit from his place.

"You know why you're so ruined? That's because you dared to hurt Ariana. I let Ariana go with you because I believed you could take care of her, but you hurt her instead. So, enjoy your misery." Eric smiled and left Kevin.

"So you're the one behind the mess?" Kevin was already standing up when he asked Eric this.

Eric stopped his steps, then looked back at Kevin. "You're free to think about anything" Eric replied and right after that he received a blow from Kevin.

There was a fight between Kevin and Eric. Hana tries to stop the two men, but to no avail. Until finally, the bar security officers came to end the fight. Kevin, Eric, and Hana are thrown out of the bar for causing havoc. When he got outside, Eric left in his car. Hana leaves after making sure Kevin is okay.

While Kevin seemed silent for a moment near his car after finding out that his own best friend had trapped him, then came with a contract termination letter without compensation for assuming he had damaged the company's image, so the aggrieved party can break the contract without paying a fine.

"Akhhh, dammit! Camila, Eric, how dare you ruin my life. You're going to accept the consequences, you're Camila." Kevin looks so angry.

After hearing about Ariana and Kevin's separation, Emily became so sad. Emily kept crying and wanted to meet Kevin and Ariana. Ariana calls Kevin to make an appointment to meet outside to avoid Camila, but the man's number is off. Ariana called Wilda and she said Kevin wasn't home. Kevin left after a brief argument with Camila. Kevin still cannot be contacted.

Emily, tired of crying, finally fell asleep. Ariana was still accompanying Emily at this time, sleeping next to her and hugging her tightly. Ariana cried when she saw Emily crying because of her. But what can he do? Ariana hopes that when she grows up Emily will understand her current condition.

When Ariana was about to close her eyes to rest someone pressed her house bell. Inevitably Ariana now got out of bed, then went out to see who came. Ariana did not immediately open the door, but saw it from behind the window and saw Kevin who came by being swept by a taxi driver.

"What happened to her?" ariana muttered as she went to open the door. Camila is waiting for Kevin to return.
