That afternoon Darto returned to the pesantren with great disappointment, having missed a golden opportunity to get rid of one of his main enemy accomplices. In his heart he was eager to turn back the clock, to repeat the fight and create the result as expected. But as great as any creature called man, he will never be able to tinker with something that has become a god's decree.
When he arrived at the pesantren, Darto could only make a little smile on his lips, after seeing Bidin and Surip who were spared from danger. They ran on time and arrived at the boarding school safely.
"Are you okay, Gus?" Ask Surip. He was waiting for the return of Darto in front of the pesantren.
"Alhamdulillah, Sur. Bidin where?" Answer Darto.
"He again called Si Mbah the same Mr. Kyai. We are afraid of anything happening to you, but thank God you are back" Surip said again, this time he looked at Darto with a relieved look lodged in his face.
They both then entered the pesantren, and when they just entered the pesantren area, Darto and Surip saw Badin, Si Mbah and Kakung who were hastily walking towards the pesantren gate. They looked extremely hasty, with worried looks plastered on their faces.
But all of them immediately put on a relieved face, when they saw Darto who was fine in front of their eyes. Si Mbah and Kakung immediately embraced Darto in turn, while continuing to say thank you without stopping.
"Let's tell us later, Dar. What really happened" Kakung said as he pulled Darto's arm. He dragged Darto as he accelerated to his own home.
Arriving home, Darto told me everything. About the giant centipede that is so strong, and the thousands of children that he has managed to get rid of. Kakung and Si Mbah were stunned to hear everything that came out of Darto's lips, they immediately put on a tense face when Darto told him about his opponent's skills, but they gradually relieved again after knowing Darto managed to incise fatal wounds on the body of his strong opponent.
"No need to regret it, Dar. You've done your best. As far as the Mbah sulkang or centipede antenna is concerned, that is the most important part. He is the same as the blind and deaf now, you can fight him easily if you meet again" said Si Mbah after seeing the disappointed face of his grandson.
"Yes, Dar. You better rest now. Your marriage is near, don't wander off anymore. Not good," continued Kakung.
Hearing the words of his two grandfathers, Darto gradually can expel his regret. He began to be able to smile back, and was also not too burdened with the results of his fight anymore. At that time they only opened a long conversation before finally adzan maghrib was heard echoed by one of the students. Kakung and Si Mbah were a little surprised because they were too cool to talk until they forgot the time, so that other people who proclaimed the Adhan.
The long conversation finally ended. They flocked to the mosque to congregate maghrib continued Isya afterwards. The night passed and the day changed.
Darto who fell asleep early woke up very early this morning, he even became the first person to arrive at the mosque. Usually Kakung or Si Mbah who first arrived, but different this time. This morning Darto became the one who proclaimed the dawn with the sound of long breath that he had.
"Our granddaughter is already big, Min. Tomorrow he has his own family, it feels like only yesterday afternoon I carried him," Kakung said as he walked to the mosque. He was walking along with Mbah Turahmin.
"Yes, Mat. I feel the same rich way. Time is terrible, Matt. Maybe soon we will only be a memory, from a name told by Darto to his children," replied Mbah Turahmin while looking at the skin of his wrinkled hands. She felt so old and fragile this morning.
"Yuk already, Min. Later we miss the dawn prayer, today I want Darto who leads," said Kakung who immediately got a nod from Si Mbah. They immediately accelerated their footsteps, and rushed into the mosque in front of them.
The wedding that Darto will do tomorrow is the moment that most two parents wait. On the one hand they are very happy to see the baby they are caring for already has a strong back, on the other hand they feel a little heavy having to take off someone they have always cared for, he said, to carry the burden of his own life. Wanting to be any size, a child will still look like a toddler, in the eyes of someone who took care of him from when he was present and had a name on earth.
This morning the little family performed the dawn prayer at dawn afterwards. They had just left the mosque when the sun had greeted, and they were again preparing for the wedding of Darto and his two friends which will be done tomorrow. They look busy preparing for whatever they feel will be needed for the show, until time really feels so fast running. One day passed just like an hour, they were so busy that they were swept away in such a fast flow of time.
"You've memorized it, Gus?" ask Surip.
"I have," said Bidin.
"I have, too" replied Darto.
Tonight the three men were sitting on the terrace of the mosque, reciting a string of sentences on a piece of paper in their hands. They were so nervous about what they were going to do tomorrow morning, that their watered-down brains were completely pressured to work hard just to memorize a line of words. Fortunately they had all managed to memorize all the words, until tonight they could go home to their resting place with a feeling of relief.
"Hopefully tomorrow will be good Sur, Din. I want to rest first, you guys better not stay up too. Tomorrow is an important day for us" said Darto as he stepped away to Kakung's house.
Hearing that, Surip and Bidin immediately nodded and moved from his seat. They went to each other's rooms and laid their bodies down. A feeling of tension, excitement and nervousness continued to rage on the chests of the three men. That night they found it difficult to close their eyes even though they had been forced hundreds of times.
No different than the bride. They feel the same way, that night their eyes forget drowsiness, because their brains are forced to always think. Right now, the three bride-to-be were drunk in a new feeling in her heart. Feelings that are dusty and do not go away, even though they continue to try to relieve it.
