"Mom, I go to the market first, pick Vero up, Mom. Vero was still sleeping" Vaya said goodbye to her mother.
"Yes, be careful, Vaya, do not forget to bring an umbrella, this is overcast," said Bu Asih.
"Yes Ma'am" said Vaya.
Vaya also immediately went to the market which is located quite far from the nearest city by riding a transport car that happened to pass by. Vaya is forced to ride on a passing freight car because the only motorbike she has is used by Aria to go to school.
The distance to the nearest city takes about three hours if there are no obstacles on the way. Although Vaya has left early in the morning but the possibility to arrive at the market must be midday.
Fortunately the condition of the stall is quiet so that Bu Asih is not too bothered to serve customers who come.
Bu Asih looked at the sky that looked so dark because it was covered in a thick cloud.
Bu Asih hopes Aria will return home from school soon and Vaya will return from the market before it rains.
Suddenly Bu Asih felt his head dizzy, the middle-aged woman immediately sat at one of the empty tables.
Meanwhile upstairs, Vero awakens from sleep. The boy spread his gaze to find the emptiness he always found every day.
He immediately went down the stairs slowly, approaching Bu Asih who was sitting in one of the chairs.
"Where is mom?" tanya Vero approached Bu Asih.
"Your mother to the market" replied Bu Asih.
"Change why? It hurt?" ask Vero.
"That's just a little dizzy. Take a short break, yes" replied Bu Asih.
"Will you have some warm tea?" ask Vero.
"Don't bother, Vero. Mbah just want to rest for a while," replied Bu Asih while reviewing his smile.
Vero could see his grandmother's paled face. Vero, get to the kitchen. It takes hot water from the dispenser and brews one tea bag.
Vero was used to seeing his mother or grandmother making tea, so he imitated what he used to see.
"Bah, this is to drink first," said Vero as he offered a glass of warm tea to Bu Asih.
Bu Asih again commented on his smile, although at this time he felt heavy to smile because his head was so dizzy.
Bu Asih sipped a little warm tea that Vero gave.
"Thank you, Vero" said Bu Asih. "You are smart, but always be careful with hot water" said Bu Asih.
"Be calm, I am a big man" said Vero proudly.
"Excuse me! Order one glass of coffee!"
"Bah, let Vero alone," said Vero as soon as he saw Bu Asih was about to serve customers.
"Vero" said Bu Asih.
"I can, Mbah," said Vero enthusiastically.
"Would the stall be closed?" mumam Bu Asih's.
Bu Asih still feels dizzy despite trying to rest.
A few moments later, Aria returns home from school. Aria came home early because today just happened to be a school exam tryout.
Aria immediately approached her mother who seemed to droop weakly at one of the tables.
"Mother! Mother why? So pale!" Aria was surprised to see Bu Asih.
"Yes, from this morning I felt dizzy," said Bu Asih.
"Yes, let's go to the puskesmas now, ma'am," Aria asked.
"If we go, Vero how?" ask Bu Asih. "Vaya has not returned from the market and now the weather is so cloudy," said Bu Asih.
"I take care of the house" said Vero.
"Vero sure you don't want to come?" ask Aria.
Vero nodded confidently and steadily.
"Later if it rains, I can get sick" said Vero.
"Yes, then the stall is closed," suggested Aria.
Aria immediately closed the stall faster.
"Vero, take care of the house for a second. Wait till your mom gets home. Do not play stove, do not just open the door if there are unknown people," Aria said.
"Yes, Auntie," said Vero.
Aria and Bu Asih immediately went to the nearest puskesmas whose location was almost twenty kilometers away. Understandably, the name is also they live in remote areas far from the city.
...*****...
It rained down violently, lightning struck.
The picture book that Vaya used to read to Vero tells of a wolf and three piglets. Wolves starving in the rain do a variety of ways to prey on three piglets in their homes.
Geck.. Geck..
"Excuse me!"
The call from the lower floor accompanied by a knock on the door that sounded more like a blow made Vero jump in shock.
"Excuse me! Excuse me!"
The call made Vero curious, slowly Vero down the stairs.
He opened the window to find out who was coming and banged outside the house. It was so hard as to break down the door of his house.
Vero's eyes immediately fell on a man who immediately commented a friendly smile on him.
"Excuse me, little sister," greeted the man kindly.
Vero furrowed both of his eyebrows because the man he saw was clearly a foreign man.
"Just calm down, little brother, I am not a bad person and by no means mean to be evil," said the man still kindly.
"If you're not a bad person, are you a wolf?" ask Vero.
"I am a human, not a wolf. Look, I don't have wolf-like claws" the man replied with a smile and showed both his hands.
"Hmm, what do you want?" ask Vero.
"Is this shop open? I need a place to stop and hitchhike for a while" said the man.
"It's raining so hard and I haven't been able to continue the journey" he continued.
Vero still cast a skeptical gaze.
"Let's call your parents, please, let me talk to them" the man said.
"My parents don't exist" replied Vero.
"What's? Your parents aren't there?"
"Yes, I'm alone! And I can't let a stranger into this house!"
"What if you turn out to be a bad person and want to do evil? I'm a poor man, I have nothing!"
"There's nothing you can rob!" continued Vero.
The friendly man could only untangle his smile from facing the skeptical boy.
"Hmm, well, then, introduce, my name is Mike, and I'm not a bad guy. Here's my identity card, please hold it to be a guarantee," the man took out his identity card from inside the wallet, then handed the card to Vero. He also handed over his smart device to Vero.
"Press the number two and you'll be directly connected to the police station if you think I'm going to do anything bad" the man said.
Vero looked at the identity card and also the smart device that seemed to be better than the property of Aunt Aria.
"Oh yes, in my smart device it is also a lot of exciting games, you know" said the man again trying to negotiate.
...*****...
Vero's eyes unbrokenly saw the figure of two tall men who were currently entering his house.
"Little brother, thank you for giving us a ride" Mike said.
Vero simply kept silent and watched the two men.
"Oh yeah, little brother, by the way, what's your name?" ask Mike.
"Vero" replied Vero briefly.
"Vero, introduce, this is Mr. Vier, and he's my boss."
Mike introduced the figure of the man who was currently beside him.
"What is that idea?" ask Vero.
"Mike, use language that is easy for young children to understand" Vier said to Mike.
Mike furrowed his brows, to Mike, Vero was clearly no ordinary little boy. A really smart kid that makes KTP and Mike's smart device a confiscation.
"I'm Mike's friend" Vier told Vero.
"Oh, man," said Vero.
Mike looked at Vero's face, for some reason he felt that the little boy's face was really familiar.
I don't know why Mike seemed to have seen that face, but where?
I don't know, Mike doesn't remember. What is certain is that he has found a place to stop for a while before continuing the journey to find Vaya.
