Getting Married for Lying

Getting Married for Lying
089 - Mike's Warning

"Yourman!"

Yoran's daydreams caved in instantly as soon as someone called her name. Yoran who was a moment ago immersed in her empty mind immediately welcomed the presence of someone who was being awaited.

"Vier's."

Yoran reached out her hand and immediately shook Vier's hand.

"Why are you so dumb, Yoran?" ask Vier.

Vier took off Yoran's hand and patted Yoran's arm with his fist. Vier's fist was actually slow, but enough to make Yoran so staggered for a moment.

"Vier, your fist is still strong," Yoran grinned.

"Haha, that? Though I didn't even use five percent of my strength!" Vier laughing.

"Oh yeah, by the way, this place is great, Yoran! You seem to choose a suitable place to relax."

Vier spread his gaze to all corners of the restaurant with an open concept, blending with nature and green trees in the hills.

Yoran was pleased to hear the praise from Vier. This restaurant is one of the restaurants under the auspices of Rand Co. ranging from the design stage to its management.

They headed to one of the meeting rooms that had a direct view of the canyon and green valley.

"Vier, would you like some tea or coffee?" ask Yoran.

Vier frowned.

"Sorry, Yoran, I don't drink tea and coffee" Vier replied.

"Oh, are you on the caffeine diet?" ask Yoran.

"Haha, no, I'm not on a caffeine diet. I'm not used to drinking coffee and tea based on the teachings of the beliefs I believed in before" Vier replied.

"Oh, it turns out you're still religious" Yoran said.

"I'm not religious, Yoran, just not used to it" Vier stressed.

"'I order orange juice, '" said Vier.

...*****...

Vier carefully observes Yoran's exposition which explains in great detail the development project of Vier's property.

Yoran who has a background as an architect as well as deepening interior design is certainly more profitable for Vier who considers that Yoran is a complete package.

Ploc.. Ploc.. Vier applauded happily as soon as Yoran finished explaining the brief, dense, yet detailed exposure.

"I really like your ideas, Yoran! I look forward to everything with great enthusiasm!" vier said after sipping his orange juice.

"Yes, I'm just trying to live up to your expectations" Yoran said.

Yoran took a sip of the coffee from her cup and put the cup back on a white porcelain mat.

"Yoran, didn't I hear from you, you're going to be working on a project from AE Property? I heard the grapevine" said Vier, tapping his glass of juice.

"Hmm, yes, but I rejected it," Yoran replied briefly.

"Why did you refuse him?" ask Vier to know.

"Communication problem," Yoran replied briefly. "I want more cooperation with parties that can provide interesting feedback than just an attractive fee" continued Yoran.

Vier commented on his smile, he made no mistake in making the choice to work with the idealistic Yoran.

"Haha, yes! I'm really looking forward to it" said Vier enthusiastically.

"Mike please help for the next one."

Vier threw his gaze at Mike sitting on the other side while fiddling with his smart tablet.

"Well, sir," said Mike.

Mike looked towards Yoran.

"I've sent you a draft contract, if anyone wants to discuss it again, please contact me" Mike said.

"I don't think there's a problem" Yoran said.

"Well, if there is no problem" said Vier.

Mike puts a smart tablet and stylus on Vier. Vier immediately put a digital signature on the contract followed by Yoran.

"Thank you, Vier, for believing in me" Yoran said as she shook Vier's hand.

"Yes, I trust you because of your competence, regardless of because I know you as an old friend" Vier said.

"Alright, then I have to go, there's still something else I have to take care of, Yoran," Vier said farewell.

"Yes, see you, Vier" said Yoran.

"See you, Mr. Joseph," Mike said goodbye.

Yoran nodded to look at Vier's departure with her assistant who had been looking at Yoran for some reason with a question mark.

...*****...

"Yoseph's? You mean Yoran?" ask Vier.

"Hmm, yes, he is" Mike replied.

"We've known since we were in High School, which means it was almost twenty years ago. Haha, gosh, it's been that long huh," said Vier laughing.

"Oh, does that mean Mr. Joseph also knew Bu Vaya?" ask Mike.

Vier frowned when he heard Mike's question.

"Mike, me and Vaya it used to be one school, we're one class. Yoran and I went to school and we were a class, so what does that mean?"

Vier asks Mike to draw his own conclusions.

"What's up, Mike? Is something bothering you?" ask Vier.

"No, sir," answered Mike.

Mike certainly can not immediately convey what he just got a moment ago from the person he asked to spy on Vaya.

Rather than misrepresenting information to cause a world war, Mike better save it first while investigating the truth.

...*****...

Vaya busies her days with her work while trying to forget Yoran.

Every day he believes that what he does is the right thing. Best thing for both of them.

Seconds change minutes, minutes change hours, hours change days, until days change weeks.

Vaya stared softly at the pair of diamond earrings that became a gift from Yoran. The first gift as well as the gift that became their farewell. Vaya keeps the earrings in her desk drawer. That tiny and pretty thing was really too good for her.

It was empty indeed there was no message or phone from Yoran that accompanied his days.

Is Yoran okay?

Yeah, I hope Yoran's okay. That is what Vaya always expected.

...*****...

Mike stepped into the kitchen, walking over to Vaya who was cooking dinner.

Mike was looking for the right time so he could talk safely. Means safe here means no one will hear their conversation.

"Mom Vaya" said Mike.

"'Oh, Mr. Mike, for a minute, my cooking is not done yet" said Vaya.

Mike codes two cooks who are in the kitchen to leave them both.

Two cooks rushed off as per the code given by Mike.

"Sir Mike, what's wrong?" ask Vaya.

Vaya saw Mike's facial expression that looked tense.

"Mr Vaya, I'm sorry because what I'm about to say will probably sound like meddling in your personal affairs" Mike said.

Mike tried to keep every word that came out of his mouth. As much as possible it does not sound intimidating or cornering.

"What's up, Mr Mike?" Vaya repeated the question.

Mike stared intently at Vaya.

"Do you know Mr. Joseph Randvale?" ask Mike.

Degs..

Vaya's heart seemed to stop beating hearing the long name Yoran mentioned by Mike.

"Joseph Randvale?" Vaya frowned.

He pretends to remember, but in Vaya's heart he wonders why Mike asked Yoran?

Does Mike know anything?

Oh no! Maybe Mike already knows something!

What should I answer? Inner Vaya.

"Joseph Randvale? Oh, it seems I did have a friend named Yoseph Randvale when I was in school" Vaya replied.

"But I don't know if the Yoseph Randvale I'm referring to would be the same Yoseph Randvale you mean, Mr. Mike," Vaya continued.

Vaya tried to cover up her trepidation. The Mike he knew was always friendly-faced and commented on the sudden smile of a stranger he did not know.

"Bu Vaya, I'm asking you, never hurt Mr. Vier" Mike said.

"When you hurt him, who will suffer not only him, but everyone around him will be affected."

Mike's words sounded so full of warning, without a smile, and made Vaya gulp his saliva because his throat was immediately choked.
