The sky had already started to darken as Amy waved one last time to her mother and friends from inside the car.
After the car he was in with Markus began to move away from the view, Amy immediately closed her car glass, then sat leaning on her seat while sighing tired.
They are both heading to the airport. From there they plan to go on a honeymoon to Paris for a week.
Imagining that long journey alone had made Amy want to close her eyes for a moment. But he can't do that.
There was something he had to ask Markus before drowsiness took over.
"rest. There's no need to hold back your sleepiness that way" Markus suggested, leaning his head on his shoulders. "When I get to the airport I'll wake you up. You look so tired now."
Pleased for that attention, Amy looked up while smiling sweetly at her husband.
"Thank you for your understanding, but before I fall asleep there is something I want to ask you first."
Mark looked at her with a disapproving face. "You can ask later. Now go to sleep."
Then Markus deliberately closed his eyes to end their conversation.
Not giving up so easily, Amy moved her index finger across Mark's chest making a circular pattern there.
"Why didn't your mother come to our wedding today, Mark?"
Silent. No answer came out of her husband's mouth. Only the sound of his regular breathing could be heard in that silence.
Even so, Amy still trying to get answers from her husband, no matter how small it is.
"I know your relationship with your mother is not good, but still her absence is very pronounced. I even had time to listen to the whispers of some of the guests that the reason for his absence at our wedding was because he did not want a poor daughter-in-law like me. Even today my mom is constantly me–"
"My mother's absence has nothing to do with you, so don't call yourself that" Mark said, sounding very upset when he found out that someone was insulting his wife's background without her knowledge.
"I'm not the one who called myself poor, but those fools who said it" Amy exasperated.
"Then forget what you heard. Just ignore if you ever see those fools who envy you again."
"I don't want to talk about those fools, Mark, I'm just wondering why–"
Mark squeezed his arm to stop him from speaking.
"Sleep, Amy, we've got a long way to go. Instead of wasting your energy asking such unimportant questions, you better think about our bridal night."
Aware Markus accidentally brought up about their honeymoon because he felt uncomfortable talking about his mother any longer, Amy had no choice but to comply with the unspoken request.
Even so he only delayed it for a while. Later if Markus is in a better mood he will again ask about his bad relationship with his mother again.
Like it or not, her husband still has to tell her what makes him stiff whenever his mother is mentioned.
Perhaps having succeeded in silencing her, Mark breathed a sigh of relief, which provoked Amy to bother her husband again with another question.
But this time the question he asked was related to him, and it was necessary to ask him in order to calm him from the restless feeling that still had not completely disappeared from his mind.
"By the way, Mark, I remember something that made me a little curious" he hesitated.
Instantly her husband's body stiffened again, as if she was afraid that Amy would return to asking questions that made her uncomfortable.
"So my mother had told me that you were actually looking for me first, but because you never showed up my mother finally decided to look for me too" continued Amy, glancing carefully at her husband. "What I want to ask is, are you really as lost as my mother thought because it was difficult to find my whereabouts. Is that really so?"
An amused smile formed on her husband's lips listening to the question.
"I'm not a child who can get lost in such a small place, my dear," replied Mark chuckling. "It's true that I intended to look for you when you haven't set yourself up yet, but on the way I met Luke, he pulled me outside and asked me to be more patient waiting for my bride-to-be at the altar. Although I was annoyed that she dragged me back to where the guests were waiting outside, I was relieved to know that your mother was looking for you too, and decided to wait for you to come back with your mother. Well, is there anything else you want to ask me?"
Amy shook her head quickly then leaned back on Markus' chest with a satisfied sigh. Now she can sleep well in her husband's arms.
In an instant Amy was already sound asleep and dreaming of being busy doing her work on the seat while occasionally glancing into Mark's room every minute.
Which causes him to not be able to focus on his current job because Markus' mother is waiting for his boss there for almost an hour.
An hour ago, he told Mark that his mother had come to visit his office. But look, until now the boss sucks it has not shown the trunk of his nose.
What really caused it to come this late? An important meeting attended by his superiors was long over.
Suddenly the sound of the door slamming open made Amy jump up from her seat as a beautiful woman dressed in elegance stepped out of Mark's room with an unhappy look.
Anyone who saw this beautiful woman in front of him would not have expected that she was already 48 years old. There were no wrinkles on his face, as should be seen on people his age.
Even her 43-year-old mother had small wrinkles on her face.
Either the mother of his superior has done plastic surgery or he is smart to take care of himself to make it still look young like that.
Had she not introduced herself as her superior mother, Amy almost thought she was her boss's lover. Fortunately, he did not make that big mistake.
"There is no need to vent your anger on my secretary. It's not him who makes you mad" scolded a voice Amy knew as her superior.
"Finally you came too!" exclaimed his superior mother loudly.
Glad that her boss had finally arrived, Amy let out a sigh of relief as she threw a grateful look at him for saving her from her mother's rampage.
But what he saw in Mark's gaze was very surprising. The grayish eyeball pierced him with a cold look.
Just sec. It seems Amy had seen that look before.
Then a realization hit him that he had actually been in this situation before. This was the case 2 years ago, when he met Mark's mother for the first time.
This whole scene was exactly the same as what happened that day. What distinguishes him this time Mark's cold gaze was not on his mother, but on him.
Cold sweat slowly washed his back.
Why is Mark looking at me so hatefully? Did he know that I had been lying to him all this time.
No, that can't happen! He can't figure it out. We just got married and I haven't done anything to please her.
Remembering his wedding. Amy slowly realized that this was all a dream.
Why did he dream of this? Why should that cold look be on him? Could this be a bad sign? Or is it his worry that causes those memories to haunt his dreams? Whatever it was, he didn't like it at all.
Without warning Amy suddenly awakens from her nightmare with a breath of breath.
How long have I been sleeping?
His eyes immediately glanced at the car glass to see the scenery outside. How shocked Amy was when she saw their car enter a spacious courtyard decorated with various beautiful plants around her.
Then suddenly the car he was riding stopped right in front of a magnificent house that was five times the size of his home in Nort West.
"We've arrived." That was all Mark said as he reached out to him.
I don't know when her husband got out of the car, maybe he did it while Amy was still glaring at the grandeur in front of him.
Welcoming the helping hand, Amy asked, "Where are we, Mark?"
"My house" replied Markus briefly.
"Your house?" amy was surprised. "Why are we at your house, shouldn't we be at the airport now?"
Oh, my God, what is this really? Why did we go to Mark's house? Then why did Markus not say this change of plan to him during the trip.
Did Markus intentionally do it because he did not want to disturb his sleep? It would be ridiculous if that was the reason.
Her husband's house was huge, but it also felt empty. There was no one in the house but the two of them.
Shouldn't a house this big have many servants? Or maybe the residents in this house are sleeping, if you remember the time of their arrival here.
The wall clock near the circular staircase when Amy passed it showed time was past 11pm.
Waw! I slept for a long time too.
It was like sleeping for a few tens of minutes instead of 4 hours.
Being too busy with her thoughts, Amy does not realize that they are now in the large room that she thinks her husband's room.
Too serious to notice her surroundings, Amy jumped in shock when she felt Markus pull down the zipper of the beige dress she was wearing from behind.
"What are you doing, Mark?" ask Amy to turn her body around.
"Remove your dress" replied Markus flatly.
"Yes, I know, but why did you suddenly do that?"
A moment later Mark's facial expression turned dark.
"Why? Can't you hide your disgust for me anymore?"
All of a sudden Amy's body signals a warning that something is wrong with Mark's sudden coldness.
"Whatchu mean? I-I don't understand," Amy replied stammeringly.
The rumbling sound of his heart pounding violently in his chest.
"Once your cipher is done, Amy. Aren't you tired of acting so innocent like that?" ledek Markus cynical. "I'm tired of seeing it."
Oh my God, he knows it.
