I Will Marry You (I'll Marry You)

I Will Marry You (I'll Marry You)
Mark's Childhood

This time Amy did not know what to respond to the shocking expression, it would be very inappropriate if she threw an oath before Helen.

However, he could not help his anger when he learned of Mark's mother's cruel behavior.

How could he have hurt his son like that without feeling the slightest guilt, given his casual attitude when visiting Markus in his office a few years ago.

Now that he knew the cruel nature of Mark's mother, he could understand why Mark was acting so coldly to his mother.

Sipping her drink, Helen continued, "If only you were there your heart would be broken also see Mark who was so small was stunned in his place knowing that the mother he thought was on vacation was recovering from her pain turned out bring a new father home for him."

Only then did Helen tell the lies that their father had done for Mark who was still a child whining to find his mother. Unable to see the sadness of his son, Charles their father lied to Mark that his mother was going to visit his grandfather who was seriously ill.

Of course, the grandfather who was the father of their mother was very sick, but the matter of their mother's departure there was just a lie, and Helen knew it very well.

Another thing with Mark who knew nothing, Helen witnessed firsthand the departure of her mother with their music teacher. At that time his mother said goodbye to him by telling Helen that his happiness was not with their father, but with their music teacher who loved him very much.

Although their parents' marriage was due to an arranged marriage, Charles was not actually a bad husband. He always treated Elisabeth well. Even what his wife asked him he would give it away with pleasure.

Charles is a very perfectionist. He always put his job ahead of his own family.

Because of his nature, he always had no time with his family. Plus due to his reserved nature he is not very smart at expressing his feelings.

That's why he thinks the luxury he gives must be quite happy for his wife and children.

That's why Elisabeth, who is always hungry for affection, sought out impingement elsewhere without her husband's knowledge.

However, Elisabeth felt obligated to give her husband an heir before leaving. Charles is the only child in the Xander family.

Then after feeling his son was old enough, Elisabeth finally decided to leave Markus who was 5 years old in the care of a nanny. And before leaving she had also left the divorce papers in her husband's workspace

When he learned of his wife's passing, of course Charles was devastated, but he could do nothing because he felt it was all his fault. So when Mark found out he missed his mother, he told her the lie, which he felt would not hurt his son too much.

Day after day passed, Mark constantly asked his father to take him to his grandfather's house so that he could meet his mother there, but repeatedly Charles gave various reasons to his son.

A year later, Charles learned that his father-in-law had died. Though worried that Mark would wonder why his mother would not be seen in his grandfather's house later, Charles still took his two children there.

Fortunately, during the trip to his father-in-law's house, he found a solution if Mark later questioned his mother's whereabouts, thanks to Helen who gave the idea to him.

"You know, Amy, my dad was really surprised to learn that I knew about my mother's departure with our music teacher" Helen said. "He knew nothing of my mother saying goodbye to me that day. My father's beaten face was still very clear in my memory."

When she felt the sadness of her sister-in-law, Amy held Helen in her arms. He hugged Mark and little Helen, too. It must have been very hard for them.

"I'm fine, Amy," muttered Helen, patting her on the back. "Luke's love has helped me take that pain out of my heart."

"But still it has destroyed little Helen," said Amy.

"You're right" said Helen slowly.

Releasing her embrace, Amy took a handkerchief in her bag and wiped away the tears that had soaked her cheeks. Sitting up straight he turned to face Helen with a serious look.

"Continue the story, Helen. I'm ready to listen again."

A small smile while shaking her head looking at the rapid change in emotions within her, Helen finally continued her story.

"Early everything went well. My father and I each year prepare a birthday present for Mark, and say it's a mother's gift as long as he goes on a long trip to different countries to recover from his grief."

Sighing long, Helen deliberately turned her gaze away from Amy.

"Until finally all that happiness was shattered when mother came home to bring her new lover, and gave their wedding invitation to my father with a happy smile" said Helen, feeling the anger back then flared within him. "After three years gone by without news he returned to our house with the slightest innocent look. He felt three years must have been enough time for father to find a new wife. So, it wouldn't hurt if she also introduced her future husband to dad."

"Your father remarried?"

Although Charles behaved as if his marriage to Elisabeth was fine in front of his children, it did not rule out the possibility that he had a wife or lover out there. For businessmen as rich as Charles it is not difficult to provide another place to live for his second wife.

"Of course not!" helen replied fiercely.

Taking a deep breath, Helen calmed herself down again.

"Sorry, Amy, I don't make–"

"It's okay, Helen, just keep up with your story" Amy interrupted impatiently.

"He's a really good father" Amy said.

"Yes, he's a good father." Helen agreed. "Maybe that's why she inherited the greenhouse on my mother in her will, despite my mother's over-harming attitude."

"What?" amy was shocked.

Helen smiled wryly. "I thought you'd be as surprised as me and Markus. Though annoying that's what my father did. Maybe in her heart she still loved my mother, so she inherited her greenhouse for my mother because she knew how much she loved the pretty flowers in there."

"You mean the greenhouse that's in our house?" ask Amy not to believe it.

"Yes, that greenhouse" Helen nodded. "That's why mom always had a reason to go home, and it pissed Mark off every time he refused to sell the greenhouse to her."

"I can imagine how upset Mark is."

Waving her hand, Helen said, "Enough talk about my drama-filled family." Helen watched him closely. "Today you look so beautiful, honey, especially that necklace, it looks so beautiful around your neck."

Amy touched her hand to a diamond-shaped oval necklace around her neck. "Yes, this is beautiful. Mark gave it to me tonight."

"Surely he's hard to take his eyes off of you," Helen guessed, smiling meaningfully. "Like he did all dinner last night. He looks so fascinated by you."

Thinking Amy was going to meet a red buzzing her words, Helen was astonished when Amy's facial expression turned upset, her lips tightly closed, as if unhappy to know her husband had been watching her without her knowledge in the dining room earlier.

"It looks like you're misinterpreting Mark's gaze on me, Helen. He's not fascinated, rather he hates my appearance tonight."

"How is it possible? There's nothing wrong with your looks."

"Unfortunately, Mark thinks otherwise." Amy sniffed her shoulders. "You know, she told me I shouldn't be wearing this dress in front of a kid, and more silly than that she thinks my dress looks like a dress that fits into a nightclub. Just be right! It seems like my husband is having eye pain, so he can't tell which one is polite and which one isn't."

For a moment there was no response from Helen, he just lowered and raised his eyes back from Amy's body, then he exploded laughing in front of Amy.

Unhappy with her sister-in-law's reaction, Amy's face grew even more sullen as she watched Helen laugh out loud before her

"That's not funny, Helen!" cetus Amy sour.

"That's very funny, Amy," Helen replied in the middle of her laughter.

Finally, after laughing, Helen raised her hand to Amy.

"Sorry, Amy, but your story just now really comforted me."

"I'm not entertaining you."

"I didn't know Mark could be that funny" continued Helen, ignoring the grunts of her sister-in-law. "I think I know what caused Mark to say that to you."

"Besides that she hates me?" ask Amy cynically. "There's no other reason he would say that harshly to me, if it wasn't for him hating me so much."

"No, honey, no" said Helen softly. "Regardless of what you did to her, she never hated you. He's just disappointed. His words to you only prove that he still wants you."

As Amy was about to protest, Helen cupped her hands in Amy's hands while shaking her head.

"Listen, Amy, your guilt for Mark has always made you look at things in a negative direction. However, if you're going to put your guilt aside, you're going to know what Mark really feels for you."

Amy was silent listening to Helen's advice. It was thought by him that maybe what Helen said had a point. But he was really afraid to hope.

What if Helen's wrong? What if what Helen told him was just her wishful thinking? Whatever it was he remained afraid of growing hope in his heart.

Because if it turns out Helen's guess is wrong, it will only increase the pain. It was better not to keep any hope against her husband.

After all, given Mark's disgusted expression on their wedding night, it was impossible for her husband to still have the desire to touch her. Not to mention his attitude that always could not stand every time he was in the same room with him.

Despite that, he did not reveal his thoughts to Helen. If it could ease his sister-in-law's concerns about their marriage a little, he would keep that thought to himself.

So instead of responding to Helen's advice, he chose to say something that would certainly not be too visible if he deliberately avoided the conversation.

"Despite that, Helen, I still have to do something about my dress" Amy said, pursing her lips looking down at her dress. "Do you have a scarf, or a scraft, maybe? It'll make Mark very happy when he sees me."

Taking that as a joke, Helen once again burst into laughter by her remark.
