Retaliation of Disabled Girls

Retaliation of Disabled Girls
Chapter 14 The Covering

Today Keith came to my residence. We were in the park, enjoying a cup of tea and a snack. He nodded his head as if he wanted to say something.

"Beware Diana, now there are many witch murders. I don't want you to be one of them" he said worriedly.

In my previous life, she had never discussed the witch killings in my previous life. Did he hide it or really not know about the murder? There's nothing I can ask about this, I can only second-guess. Did the witch murders this time happen faster than my previous life, because I was repeating time? Is this a side effect of repeating time, that other things change? Then I have to fix it. I'm gonna catch that witch killer. Before that I have to see Gauri. The sooner the better.

"I already know, Eric told me," I replied.

Keith flinched, then looked disappointed. Was he disappointed that I knew it before? Or does he not want anyone better than himself like Eric?

"I will protect you when Derek comes again" he smiled.

Keith tried to look cheerful, forgetting my words.

"No need, I can protect myself and expel Derek myself. I'll humiliate him if I dare to see me again" I said coldly.

He wanted to say something but I interrupted him.

"We don't have to be friendly when we're alone, Keith." I pressed my every word to make Keith understand.

Keith gasped. He looks confused. "Sorry, I just want to get along with you. I hope even if this is just a contract I want to be close to you even after this contract is over, Diana." Keith seemed to mean it.

He wants to be close to me as a friend or lover? There's a lot I don't understand about Keith.

"You're up, Keith."

Looking at Keith's face today made me feel annoyed. Like coming back when he first met her in this life. Why am I like this? I know the answer. It started when I met Stella. Must be because of that. Because of that girl I remembered something I was trying to bury deep.

"What if today we went for a walk in the city, Diana? Looks like your day is a little upset," suggested Keith.

It's all because of your childhood friend.

"All right."

I nodded even though I was not really excited about Keith being alone in the city. We have to pretend to be a harmonious couple, because there could be people who recognize us.

***

We were at a restaurant. Keith ordered a lot of cut cakes. I didn't know she liked sweet food.

"You can eat it Diana." Keith's hands pointed at the cake one by one.

I nodded while looking at him with a strange look. There's no way I'm spending ten kinds of cookies. My stomach doesn't fit. Men and women are different. Does he want to gain weight?

"I can't spend all this. You eat too. If you're left, bring it home to Iris," I bargained.

"Alright," Keith replied with a smile.

Not being able to taste the delicious food in my past life caused me to be greedy. Especially my favorite sweet food. I can't help myself. I don't know if the way I ate looked elegant or not. I forgot to be polite when I eat. However, I think Keith did not notice me at all. Or it's just my belief to entertain myself.

"I'm really full. I'll pay for it, Diana." Keith raised his hand to call the servant.

I held Keith's hand.

"Why are you doing this, Keith? Stop wasting money. Aren't you and Iris saving for your mother's treatment?" my many.

Keith took off my hand, still calling the waiter.

"It's okay, Diana. The money you gave me was enough to treat my mother, even more so" she replied.

The waiter came to us with details of what we ordered. Keith paid for it, then asked the waiter to wrap up the snacks we didn't send. Then, look back at me.

"Actually we already knew that Mother's treatment only extended her life. We can't cure him." A confession from Keith.

I didn't expect. That means her mother's death is completely inevitable. In his previous life, Keith's mother also died. After that our relationship became awkward. He didn't come for months until he dumped me.

"Have you guys been looking for the best Potion Witch?" my many.

"All the ways we've done it. We asked the witch the greatest potion, but the answer was the same. Our mother cannot be healed. We've bought a book containing ingredients to make potions. However, no one listed that those ingredients could cure our Mother's illness. There's just slowing the spread of the disease" Keith said.

They continue to search and seek hoping for a glimmer of wonder to heal their mother. I think Keith was really tired and wanted to give up but wanted to look strong for the sake of his sister. Is that why he hasn't been coming for months? Then because he was tired he dumped me. He should have explained it to me so I could understand.

"I'm so sorry. Have you asked Gauri this?"

I think Gauri can solve Keith's problem. She is the oldest witch in the kingdom.

"We've seen him before. Same answer. He advised us to give up or extend our mother's life. Without me explaining you know what our answer is," said Keith.

They extend their mother's life with potions.

"Iris works hard every day to find new formulas that might cure our Mother. However, everything did not produce results. She cried every night because she felt like she was failing. Thanks to your arrival at the residence he looks cheerful even if only for a moment."

Behind the smile, carelessness and curiosity of Iris, it turned out to be a figure I did not know. Similarly, Keith, a happy figure that I had seen in previous lives had a bitter problem like this.

"I'm going to your house often, Keith," I replied, turning my face away.

"Thank you, Diana." Keith smiled at me.

Still I can't forgive him. He was guilty of leaving me without a proper explanation. I kept waiting for him but he never came. Even in the void I thought that one day he would save me. My actions are in vain.

Our package has come. He gave me two kinds of cakes, then the rest was given to Iris. Keith drove me home.

Tomorrow I'm going to see Keith's mother. Before that, I'll go to Gauri to ask what's bothering me.
