Keith's mother has passed her critical period. His breathing was more regular and his face looked calmer. Those critical moments were so long ago for us in Keith's room. We breathe a sigh of relief. Even though I know this is only temporary. We don't know when this will happen.
"Can I stay here?" my many. I don't want Mom Keith to be critical anymore and not see it. More precisely I do not want to miss his final moments that can happen at any time.
"Maybe, Diana," replied Keith who was still anxious.
"I'll pack my things first. Tomorrow I'll stay the night" I reply.
"Thank you, Diana." Iris clasped my hand with both her trembling hands.
I feel close to Iris, she I consider as my own friend and sister. I gently hugged him. "I'll stay here until your mother's condition really improves."
Iris accepted it and took it off with a smile full of pain. Tears flowed down his cheeks. Swiped it. There are no words of comfort I can say. I didn't know I had to do anything else.
Keith escorted me to the front of the Skyrise residence, although he usually came to my residence. I know the reason. She did not want to leave her mother when she came home suddenly.
"See you, Diana. Be careful on the road," he said.
"See you, Keith," I said.
I got on the horse-drawn carriage. I stared at the scene outside the window while glaring. During the journey, bad thoughts began to fill my head. Although trying to think of things more fun but still not distracted. I wish Keith all the best.
***
I've been staying at the Skyrise residence for a week. Nothing happened between me and Keith. Mrs Skyrise was still lying on the bed unconscious. Although he seemed to be improving, but his consciousness had not recovered.
The atmosphere in this residence looked very gloomy. The cheerfulness of Keith and Iris was nowhere to be seen on their faces. The three of us ate together with a grunt.
Usually my appetite is tempestuous to be shrivelled now. I only took one or two bites. Iris is the same. He just ate a mouthful. Keith had not touched his food at all.
"I'm done." Keith left the dining room.
I followed. He's headed for the practice room. These few days he had often been there to occupy himself. I become a training opponent or sometimes just watch him train.
This time he wanted to train alone. He always drank the potion made by Iris before training. I didn't ask about the potion's function because his mood was bad.
"This is to increase the magic power, Diana," replied Keith who noticed my gaze.
He knows that I've been watching him for a few days. Maybe he was hoping that I would ask. Unfortunately I did not dare.
"Isn't it that magic power can't increase because it's a talent from birth?" my many.
That's the reason Trevor needs the transfer of magic power from me.
"Indeed it really can't, but Iris can create this potion. I've been drinking for almost three months and my magic power has increased" Keith explained.
Iris is talented. He must be hoping that with his talent he can create a new potion formula to save his mother. Now he must be in his experiment room. However, during this week there was no significant development. Her potion did not wake her mother up immediately.
"Is it not sold on the market? Will definitely make a lot of profit. Many people will buy this potion."
"No, even though we actually wanted to get money from this but it's not because if it's in the hands of the wrong person, it will even be abused."
Thas right. If the one who drank this magic power-enhancing potion was an evil person like that assassin, the Kingdom would be even more chaotic.
"Can I try, Keith? Surely not free, I'll pay for it."
"Could only. You don't have to pay for it, Diana." Keith picked up the potion bottle that the box stored in the corner of the room. Then give it to me.
I drank it, but it didn't feel anything. Perhaps the effect will be visible when using magic. I'm emitting fireball magic. The damage power is stronger than usual even if the difference is only a little.
"How, Diana?"
"That's right because when you multiply suddenly it will overload the body."
"That's it." I'm nodding.
Brakes...
The sound of the door opening violently shocked us. Iris stood there while smiling brightly. "Mom is conscious."
Keith and I looked at each other with smiles and rushed to his mother's room. Iris followed us behind.
We've reached Mrs Skyrise's room. He leaned against the bed, smiling gently at us. His face was so fresh as if it had completely healed.
Keith hugged his mother. His mother patted his son's back.
"You've grown up don't often grieve because of Mom. Be a role model to Iris," said Keith's mother.
Keith took off his embrace with a smile. "Good, Mommy."
Keith's mother looked at me. "It turns out there's Diana, thank you for accompanying them."
"No need to thank you, um, Mom." I still feel awkward calling Keith's mother after all, even though I've done it.
"Are you two able to leave me with Diana? I have something to tell him." Their mother looked at Keith and Iris in turn. They both nodded, exiting this room.
After only the two of us were here I opened my voice. "What's the matter, Mom?
"I'm very, very grateful to you, Diana. Because of you Keith and Iris are happier."
"You said it already."
"No thanks this time for everything. They often tell me about you. You are a charming and kind person."
That's not true. I'm not that good, because one day Keith will hurt me. Even I tortured my own brother and felt good to see his suffering.
"They are very chatty people especially Iris," I replied.
"That's right, Iris is my very talkative daughter. As a child I was overwhelmed by his great curiosity."
I smiled at Keith's mother's story.
"While Keith was a protector to our family who was similar to his father. Her father left me sooner than I thought. He was killed fighting the rebels two years ago. I don't know why now I miss and want to see their father."
My smile faded and then said softly. "Mother..."
"The last one I was kidding. I don't want to leave my children this fast" he said, chuckling softly.
My heart is calmer. I was afraid she would soon follow her husband.
"Diana, I hope you are happy with your loved ones" he continued.
Keith's mother's words were very sincere. I tried to hold back my tears by breathing.
"Thank you, Mother."
I smiled at this kind mother. I also want to be with my loved ones. He was.... I can't say it. I just keep it in my heart.
I didn't know it was my last conversation with Keith's mother.
