Nicholai silently heard my words. But he seems to understand what I'm saying. He sat quietly beside me at last.
"So what's your next plan?"
"I don't know, I can't think about it yet, I need time to think. Now let's just practice, dance can elevate the mood." I shrugged and took a long breath. Trying to offer my disappointment so bitter. And continue the exercise.
Charles, our dance stylist saw my mood change.
"What's wrong? You look a lot out of focus today, you're sick." He saw me make a lot of mistakes when we were training a new variation.
"No. I'm sorry, I'll try again..." I just lost my motivation, I wanted to answer like that but I didn't dare.
"Did you hear about Katya?" He also knew, meaning the news was true. I have no hope anymore.
"What's wrong. I'm fine, just maybe disappointed, it's normal not sir."
"Indeed you're among those considered, but Katya is also backed by more votes. Don't be discouraged, you'll definitely get a turn, we've all seen your hard work from the start." I tried to smile with her words of comfort.
"Thank you Sir."
Those were just words of encouragement similar empty sweet promises, anyone could say that. I don't want to hear it once, I don't want to hear any consolation right now.
We're up to the last hour of training, and all I do is want to get home fast and get some sleep.
I was sitting in the corner of the studio that afternoon, our rehearsal was almost done, it felt so tiring, when suddenly my phone rang. I don't know the number, but I pick it up anyway.
"Hallo?"
"Sara? This is Sara, isn't it?"
"It's me..."
"Did something happen to Mom, Auntie?!" I was right away with the worst guess I could think of.
"Actually I drove him to the ER because maybe he had a stroke, he spoke slurred and he felt one side of his body go limp, I don't know if the doctor was checking on him, but maybe you need to know. If you can get here it'll be better."
"I'll be there soon! Where's the hospital?"
Something I've done has happened, fortunately not as bad as I thought. Doctors have long warned that diabetics like Mom need to be careful of stroke symptoms.
"What's wrong?" Nicholai immediately saw my concern.
"My mother went to the hospital for stroke symptoms. But it doesn't seem so bad, he can still be taken to the hospital, I have to see him, the day after we just have a show, maybe I won't go in tomorrow."
"Your company."
"Not?"
"I have a car facelitas, you just say where we're going." Nicholai insisted on driving me. "Come, get your stuff done, take a shower, I'll wait for you in the lobby okay."
"But you don't have to.: I still want to refuse, I don't want to bother him with my business.
"Sara, I'm not distracted okay. Come on, the sooner the better. I'll wait for you in the lobby." He ignored my objections and told me to get ready.
Finally after getting ready and asking permission to our dance stylist I met Nicholai in the lobby who would take me.
"What hospital?"
"Richmond University, I'll guide the way." He typed his own navigation. "Okay not too far just about an hour less, hopefully we don't meet traffic hours ahead."
