The POV Sara Adams
"Sara don't be too tired. Don't forget to eat, remember this isn't ballet, you've got to have energy and a little body." Ashley saw me still trying to master some lap techniques.
"Yes, I'll eat in a minute." Unlike the ballet dance that requires you to be light, so it sometimes triggers 'eating disorder' (disease related to a chaotic diet), while sometimes you face energy-draining exercises, in this pole dancing dance you have to eat balanced and healthy here to get the energy to develop muscle strength.
I've been here three weeks. From day one Ashley asked Morgan and Kimberly to train me specifically. The change in training was very pronounced, my focus now on hand strength, something I had to start from the ground up. The use of ballet is flexibility and basic dance.
You don't imagine pole dancers are strippers, what we do are aerial choreography techniques and eye-stretching that all professional dancers in this dance club have to go through hard training. Wrong movement risk injury that is not mild to ask you.
Although for the purpose of staging, of course, there are movements that are similar, still the techniques we use are not playing games.
I haven't been able to take part in any staging of course, because my strength hasn't even been formed yet, but I can help out in amateur class as an assistant after training after a week of practice, even though the salary is not big enough to make me not touch my savings. I have to make sure my money is entirely for Mom.
They have several clubs that ask for regular performances of at least three days on weekends and many scheduled shows for special celebratory events in some other major cities, even a private party event if they can afford it, LA is full of rich lunatics who are willing to waste money on unimportant things. Although the labor hours of dancers here are never short of work. That's why their pay is so far from my pay and obviously the tips they get on private events are so generous.
"You've already practiced the basic locking techniques Kimberly taught you?"
"Yes, I'm not very good. Still need to get used to this pole grip. He and I have not yet gotten to know each other well."
"Let's have a drink first. You're on your path, don't push yourself too much, otherwise the risk of injury will actually hinder you." Ashley reminded me.
"Yes I know. Gordon reminded me too." Ashley does not charge here, although she is also active as a dancer but in recent years she is more active in management as a schedule manager and customer maintenance.
"How's your mom?" Asley just got back from Vegas, we received some work there. I'm here coached by Gordon and Kimberly, veteran dancers who are here.
"My mom is good, she seems happy I told her I could send more. All he's worried about is that my salary isn't enough for myself." It's better than a few months ago.
