On Monday morning, Prestige International High School students gathered in the field for the flag ceremony. The atmosphere of the field looked neat and solemn, with rows of students wearing red white uniforms that also used navy-colored alma mater and complete school attributes. In the middle of the field, there was a towering flagpole, with a red and white flag fluttering majestically.
Nora stood in the fourth row, along with her best friend Giselle who was beside her. Nora turned her head towards the tenth grade line, looking for a figure that always caught her attention. He saw the man standing in the front row, with his handsome face and sweet smile.
Giselle followed Nora's line of sight, and immediately frowned. He dislikes the man, who always makes Nora go away from him. Nora deserved better than the man.
“Ra, why do you like to see him continue? Don't care about him, Ra! He is not worthy of lo!” whispered Giselle while hugging Nora's arm.
Nora smiled gently, and stroked Giselle's hair. He knew Giselle loved him very much, and did not want to lose him as she had before. But Nora also could not bear to see the man suffering alone.
"No papa times, Gis. Let Nora not be a mosquito when we show off friendly," Yudha chimed in with a small laugh.
"Ah, you don't understand!" exclaimed Giselle who had been amused if not for the flag ceremony maybe the girl would have left for now as well.
The flag ceremony begins with a prayer reading by one of the students, which is greeted with an amen by the entire participants of the ceremony. Then, the song Indonesia Raya reverberated from the loudspeaker, and all the students sang it with passion and love of the homeland. After that, the red and white flag was raised slowly by the flag raiser squad, which consisted of high-achieving students from various fields. When the flag reached the top of the pole, there was a siren sound indicating that the flag ceremony had officially begun.
Next, the ceremonial coach recites a welcome from the principal, who conveys his welcome to the new students and hopes that they can adapt well to the new school environment. The principal also reminds all students to maintain discipline, ethics, and academic and non-academic achievement. In addition, the principal also announced several activities and programs that will be carried out by the school in the near future, such as competitions, extracurriculars, industry visits, and others.
After the speech of the principal was finished, the ceremonial coach gave an opportunity to representatives of outstanding students to deliver an English speech. One of the new students chosen is Nora, a beautiful and smart pride of Prestige International High School. Nora smilingly walked to the front of the field with confident steps, and started talking in front of the microphone. Some of the cries of the disciples echoed in the field.
"Good morning, honorable teachers and fellow students. My name is Nora Rachel Shopia and I am one of the students who received an academic achievement award today. I am very grateful and proud of this accomplishment, but I also want to share something that has been bothing me for a long time." Nora looked at her school students with a smile.
"I have witnessed and experienced bullying from some of my classmates. They have included, experienced, and physically hurt me and others who they think are weak or different. They have made fun of our appearance, our grades, our hobbies, and our dreams. They have made us feel worthless and hopeless."
"This is not acceptable. This is not how we should treat each other. We are all human beings who desire respect and dignity. We are all here to learn and grow, not to hurt and destroy. Bullying is a serious problem that can have lasting effects on the victim’ mental and physical health. It can also affect the bullies themeselves, who may develop antisocial behavior and low self-esteem."
Nora looked at the spy who was looking at her with a confused, scared, and angry look. He had just made a loud and fiery speech about how bad bullying is in school. He was not a victim of bullying, but he felt the pain of people being treated unfairly by delinquent students.
Nora delivered a speech long enough to finally say, "Thank you for listening to my speech. I hope that we can all make this school a safe and positive place for everyone."
No sound was heard other than gasping for breath. Then, one hand began to clap. It was Giovanni, Nora's upperclassman who felt his speech was very correct. The clap was soon followed by other claps from most of their school residents. Although there are still some people who are confused by Nora's speech, many also appreciate Nora's courage and care that touches their hearts.
“What is this? It's not teacher's day, sir. Don't mess around,” protest one of the teachers who saw the incident.
The policeman did not reply, but only showed a video on a large screen. The video shows the scene of the students beating another student in front of the school gate. The teacher who saw the video immediately turned pale and fainted.
The teachers and other students who saw the video were also shocked and in an uproar. They did not expect any cases of bullying to be reported to the police and dealt with directly. The ceremony was dissolved for the first time.
Nora just smiled with satisfaction while looking at the screen of her phone. There was a final message from someone who thanked him. He hides his cell phone and walks away with a classmate.
“Who reported the case to the police? Just be careful if our school accreditation goes down because of this case. I'm sure people won't calm down,” grumbled one of the students with an annoyed face.
Many students are upset about this case. They feel that the reporting of cases makes the value of schools destroyed in the eyes of the government and the community. Therefore, it is likely that they will desperately close the case and will blame all the blame on the students brought by the police.
Nora just shook her head looking at their evil behavior. In this world there is no human. They only compete for individual happiness even if there are people to be rid of.
“Many selfish people in this world. They only care about their own happiness, even if they have to sacrifice others,” Nora murmured softly.
“This is who the hell reported to the police, huh, Ra? Watch out if you get caught,” chirped Giselle, Nora's best friend, with a sullen face.
"Why would you know what happened?" ask Nora just for a little chat.
"You want me to have a singing duel, Ra. Yeah, I'm a tampol, lah! Tuh, people don't think what if there's this case making other people difficult just for one weak person?" sneer Giselle with a pouty face.
“Hush, no good talking about it! What the whistleblower did, really. So don't say it's not good, ” scolds Yudha, Giselle's boyfriend, by pinching her girl's cheek.
Nora threw away her face. Friends are like them, selfish people. However, he also could not blame them for this for the sake of their future. However, seeing one person being tortured and then being left alone is not more selfish.
“Diem is just like a criminal,” said Nora suddenly just like that. Then left the confused Giselle.
