The Unexpected Twist

The Unexpected Twist
Justice or Reputation?

The atmosphere of the school became rowdy and tense. Students were forced into their classrooms by teachers armed with batons and flashlights. They will conduct a mobile phone raid to find out who reported the school abuse case to the police. The case has left the school's name tarnished and the school's reputation threatened.

Nora sat on the very back bench, looking at the door with a cold look. He could not understand the attitude of the teachers who were more concerned with the good name of the school than the welfare of the students. He could not agree on the way they intimidated and threatened students who dared to speak.

"Good morning, kids! Today we're going to do a mobile phone raid! Nora, you have to help me!" said a teacher who entered the classroom in a loud voice.

The students were in a hurry and uproar. Some hastily hide their phones in bags, drawers, or even shoes. Nora grabbed her phone from inside her skirt pocket and held it tight.

The teacher started to walk around the classroom, rummaging through every desk and chair. He collected the phones he found and placed them on his teacher's desk.

"Don't try to lie or hide your phone!" snarl that teacher. "I will check all your phones one by one and look for evidence related to the abuse case!"

Nora got up from her seat and stood in front of the teacher bravely. "I refuse to give you my phone, sir," Nora said sternly.

"What's? What are you saying?" ask the teacher in surprise. Nora was usually an obedient and obedient student, but today she even fought back.

"I don't want to give you my phone, sir" Nora repeated. "I feel like this has violated my rights as a student."

Nora said calmly and steadily. He didn't care if the teacher was angry or if his friends hated him. He knows what he's doing is right.

"What right, Nora? You think you can arbitrarily defy school authority just because your family is the biggest donor in school?"

"The phone is a personal item that contains important and confidential data. You do not have the right to take and peek at the contents of my phone without permission. This violates article 28G of paragraph 1 of the 1945 Constitution which states that every person is entitled to the protection of his personal self, family, honor, dignity, and property under his authority, as well as the right to security and protection from the threat of fear to do or not do something that is his human right," Nora said eloquently.

"Nora, you must understand that we are doing this in the common good" the teacher said in a seducing tone. "We want to keep the good name of this school from the bad stamp that can be caused by the bullying case."

"Yes, I understand that, sir. I know that this case could hurt schools financially as well as morally. I know that parents would hesitate to send their children here. I know that teachers will lose their jobs and their income. I know that students will find it difficult to get scholarships or jobs in the future" Nora said in a flat tone. "I know all that, sir. You don't have to explain it to me anymore."

"Then why did you refuse to cooperate with us? It's in the common interest."

"Mutual interest? There are still many people suffering from this case, sir. Especially the victims who were harassed and persecuted by the perpetrators. They need justice and protection, not eye and ear closure." Nora could only shake her head at the words of her teacher.

Nora is the center of attention in her class. All the students looked at him with different eyes. Some are amazed, some are afraid, some hate, and some are envious. They did not expect that Nora was the one who reported the school bullying case to the police. The case has thrown the whole school into a frenzy and sent teachers into a panic.

"Mothers and friends don't need to find out anymore. I was the one who reported the case to the police," Nora said calmly as she showed a chat history on her phone. "I've sorted this out and I'm sure the school won't be badly affected. I just dragged the perpetrators. I also don't want this school to get a bad stamp."

The students were silent hearing Nora's confession. They think the person who uncovered the case is a lower class person who doesn't have the guts to fight the perpetrators. It turned out that that person was the most perfect student, a student who was already considered the goddess Prestige. Eventually they chose silence and did not discuss the case again.

"Let it go, Gis," answered Nora indifferently. He doesn't want to talk about it.

...****************...

The news of Nora reporting the abuse to the police soon spread throughout the school. It also reaches Ervin's ear. The man looked at his classmate in disbelief. He hesitated, but it was true.

"Crazy, anyway. It turns out that Nora's sister reported."

"Udah ah, don't talk about it anymore. Sister Nora also said that the case would not interfere with school activities. You know for yourself what is the nature of Brother Nora. He'll never lie."

Ervin got out of his chair and walked out of the quiet classroom without a teacher. He said the teachers were busy trying to improve the image of the school because of the case this morning.

He ran towards the XI class of IPS 1 in a hurry. The class is far from the hallway of the class. Until he even forgot to ask permission to enter his upperclassman class. A few eyes instantly glared at him cynically.

"People are coming in."

"Yes, it's not polite to be an adkel."

Ervin now did not care about their talk. He walked straight towards the table of Nora who was sitting behind the classroom. He let out a deep breath as he looked at the girl who was acting ordinary as if nothing had happened.

"Not learning, Vin?" asked Nora in a flat tone.

Ervin shook his head. He looked into Nora's eyes seriously. However, the one who was stared at actually returned his gaze coldly.

"Remain this to the police, brother?" ervin asked while sitting on the front desk of Nora so that she could look into the eyes of her upperclassmen directly.

Nora frowned as she shook her head saying, "Lo is as good as they turned out. For the sake of the good name of the school you are willing to live the stakes?"

"That's what it means, brother. I'm ...."

"What, Vin?" cut off Nora who was confused by the reaction of the man who was a year younger than her.

"Gue was just worried about you" Ervin said with a gasp.
