The Unexpected Twist

The Unexpected Twist
Bad News for Nora

Nora felt the coldness of the night on her face. He looked at his smiling mother beside his recently arrived father. Her father is always making a mess at home, which always hurts her mother, which always makes Nora hate her life. Nora could no longer bear to see the plight of her mother. He put a headset on his ear, trying to eliminate the noises that plagued his mind. He tried to calm himself down by listening to music and keeping a diary.

He no longer cares about his family. Those are her own words. But is the mother really happy? Does her mother not miss the love and affection she should have from her husband? Does the mother not want to live a normal life like any other family?

Nora turned to Giselle and Yudha, her friends who were always there for her. They also seemed worried about the state of Nora and her mother. They still had no idea how much Nora hated her father, how much Nora wanted to escape from this house, how much Nora wanted to live free and happy.

But tonight, all that hope is gone. His father's arrival brought disaster for all of them. His father suddenly slapped his mother in front of many people, for no apparent reason. His father made the disgrace of their family exposed in public. His father made them into gossip and media sensations.

Nora looked at the reporters who were crowding around her bundle, who stormed with disrespectful and insignificant questions. Nora felt disgusted and angry with their behavior. They know nothing about their families, about the secrets hidden behind their luxuries and wealth. They just want to benefit from the suffering of others.

Nora let go of her headset furiously. He couldn't let his mother be attacked like that. He must defend his mother, he must protect his mother, he must save his mother.

He walked quickly towards the crowd of reporters, pushing them violently. He stood in front of his bundle, wrapped his hands around his waist, looking at the reporters with a cold and sharp look.

"Good night, Miss Nora," said one of the reporters in a sweet tone. "I'm from Gossip Magazine. Can you comment on an incident that just happened? What caused your father to slap your mother? Is there a problem in your home?"

Nora bit her lips, feeling anger and sadness mixed in her chest. He was eager to vent his feelings, but he knew it would only make the situation worse. He took another breath, then replied in a cold tone.

"I'm sorry, I won't comment on that" Nora said briefly. "It's my family's personal business and I don't want the media to interfere with it. I hope you respect our privacy and do not spread any untrue or slanderous news."

"But Miss Nora," urged the reporter again. "The public is entitled to know about the private lives of public figures like you and your mother. Aren't you afraid that your Mum's reputation is being tarnished by your Dad? Aren't you angry or sad about your father's treatment?"

Nora feels her patience runs out of hearing questions that are increasingly leading towards gossip and sensation. He stared intently at the reporter, then said in a loud and clear voice.

"Enough!" nora Bengpak. "I told you I wouldn't comment on it. This is my family business and I don't want the media to interfere. I'd also like to remind you that there are laws that protect the privacy rights of citizens and prohibit the media from spreading the news without the permission of the relevant party or spreading news of gossip that harms others. If you violate the clause, I do not hesitate to report you to the authorities. Now, please leave me and don't bother us anymore!"

The words from Nora made the reporters feel disappointed because they could not publish hot news. They retreated slowly, still trying to get a picture or recording of Nora and her mother.

Nora helps her mother stand up, helped by Giselle holding her hand. Yudha and Giovanni also stepped off the stage to help them out of the crowd of reporters. They see some female colleagues and clients trying to calm Rayna, Nora's mother, who is seen crying.

Satria, Nora's father, who saw all that just laughed. He drew closer to the media with several invitations in hand. He gave the invitation to the reporters, as if nothing had happened. He smiled widely, then answered their questions casually.

"I was very disappointed in Rayna. He always insulted me just because he was fired from his job. He considers me a burden. Though I used to support him when his family did not like his ideals so that it was successful. I also give the tuition until graduation is not he is too arrogant and arrogant to forget the people who support him," Satria preached with a long sigh.

The media that sees at once is not just silent. They began to give various kinds of questions that made Nora upset. The girl inhaled the air many times trying to calm down and not look crazy. He walked over to his father with a murderous look.

However, he did not get close to his father. His father threw some invitations into the air which made some media scramble. Nora picked up an invitation that was under her feet.

Yudha who saw this immediately restrained Nora's body from falling. The girl seemed to tremble at her father's wedding invitation. People who see other than the media are silent. They did not want to interfere in the matter this time.

Nora walked to a table with a lighted candle. Nora feels the heat of the fire that burns her father's wedding invitation. He saw the paper turn to ashes on the table, as if to symbolize the end of their family relationship. He did not care about the surprised and astonished gazes of the guests who witnessed the action. He did not care about the ridicule and insults from the media that perpetuated the moment. He only cared about his mother, who looked pale and weak beside him.

Nora pulled her mother's hand, taking her out of the party room. He wanted to leave this place immediately, from a place that only brought bad memories for them. He wanted to take his mother to a quieter and more peaceful place, a place where they could forget all their troubles.

He glanced at his father, who was standing on the stage with a sly smile on his face. His father was never dear to them, who never appreciated his mother, who was never responsible as husband and father. Her father was always having an affair with another woman, who always treated her mother harshly, which always made Nora hate herself.

His father had just slapped his mother in front of many people, for no apparent reason. His father had just announced his marriage to another woman, without thinking about his mother's feelings. Her father had just crushed Nora's hopes of living happily with his mother.

Nora felt disgusted and angry at her father, more than ever. He wanted to spit on his father's face, he wanted to slap his father back, he wanted to kill his father. But he knew it wouldn't solve the problem. He knew it would only make his father more happy to see their suffering.

Nora held back her cries, then said in a loud and firm voice.

"I'm Nora Rachel Shopia and Rayna Grace Dahlia will never accept and forget what happened today" Nora said in a cold tone. "We do not accept this marriage and will not be present at all events, so it can be said that your second marriage is not legal in the eyes of the law!"

After saying that, Nora pulled her mother to leave the party. Nora did not forget to say goodbye to the party organizers and other guests politely. He also thanked Yudha, his friend who was always there for him. Yudha offered to drive them home, but Nora refused.

During the trip, the mother kept crying in the passenger seat. Nora drove the car carefully, patting her shoulders gently. He tried to calm his mother by saying sweet words and singing favorite songs of his mother.

Nora loves her mother very much, the only person who always supports and loves Nora unconditionally. Nora was very sad to see her mother suffer because of her father. Nora is very angry with her father for hurting her mother.

Nora wants to make her mother happy, even if only for a little while. He wanted to take his mother to their favorite place, a playground on the edge of town. He wanted to play with his parents there, just like when Nora was a child. He wanted to see his smile and his laughter again.

But hope seems to be in vain. She was too sad to smile or laugh again. Her mother fell asleep on a park bench, with her face still wet with tears. Her mother had a nightmare about her father, with a trembling body and whispering lips.

Nora looked at her mother affectionately, then gently rubbed her hair. He wished his mother could sleep well and dream well. He hoped that his mother would wake up feeling better. She hopes her mother can forget her father and live happily with Nora.

Nora looked up at the sky, looking at the stars shining in the darkness. He raised his hand, as if he wanted to touch the stars. He prayed to God, asking that he be given the strength and patience to face this problem. He prayed to God, asking that he be given happiness and peace for himself and his mother.

Nora shed tears, then smiled to herself. He knows life is not easy, he knows it is full of suffering. But he also knows life is full of hope, he also knows life is full of love. He will not give up, he will not despair. He will keep fighting, he will keep shining.

"When will you suffer? Nora was tired of it," muttered Nora looking at her bunda with a sigh.
