The Unexpected Twist

The Unexpected Twist
Nora's Request

Nora squeezed her head which felt pulsating. He felt as if his world had collapsed instantly. He had just witnessed the truth behind the rumors spreading about Ervin's mother, the man he had observed secretly. As it turns out, Ervin's mother is the one who has destroyed Nora's family with infidelity and deceit.

Nora turned her head towards Ervin who was pulling her mother's hand violently. He saw Ervin's face flushed with anger. The face was the same as the one he saw when they met in cafes and parks with his friends. Nora realizes that Ervin's anger has been caused by his own mother, who has made him suffer at school.

"Norah! My daughter, what's wrong with you?!" shouted Rayna, Nora's mother, who made everyone turn their heads towards them.

Nora remained silent. He saw Ervin who was surprised to let go of his mother's hand . He saw Ervin walking up to them with hesitant steps. He saw Ervin smiling faintly at him.

"Do you want to get close to my daughter?!" rayna snapped while pointing at Ervin's face.

"Udahlah, Ma. Don't be angry anymore! Nora was afraid that Mama was sick" Nora said as she stroked her mother's back. "Nora knew the woman's eldest son. He's nice, not rotten like that woman."

Nora felt her mother's hand clutching her hand tightly. He knew his mother did not believe what he was saying. He knows his mother hates the Ervin family. But he also knew that Ervin was innocent. Ervin was also a victim of his own mother's actions.

"Mother this time just listen to the words of Nora. Nora doesn't want you to be misguided" Nora said gently. "Honestly, Vin. I'm sorry this time I had to tell you your secret at school."

Nora saw Ervin nodding slowly. He knew Ervin wouldn't mind if his secret was dismantled in front of everyone. Maybe Ervin also wants to end all the suffering that he experienced.

"Mother and the people here should know. If Ervin is seen accepting karma for his mother's actions, that's what happened" Nora continued. "During school, Ervin always gets bullying from other children. He could not fight them at all because they were from the upper classes. They insulted, beat, and tortured Ervin mercilessly. Maybe from here you can realize that the evil deeds you do will have a bad impact on your children."

Nora sees Gendis, Ervin's mother, who hears her story running up to her son. He saw Gendis screaming and crying while hugging Ervin tightly. He saw Ervin rejecting his mother's embrace coldly.

Nora took a long breath. He did not want to interfere with the affairs of the Ervin family. But he also did not want to let his mother rejoice at the suffering of others. He invited his parents to sit on the sofa in the living room of their house. He sat on the floor holding his mother's hand affectionately.

Nora looked at her mother expectantly. He wanted to convey something important, but he knew it would hurt his mother. He took a deep breath, then said softly, "Mother, Nora there is something Nora wants to say. Nora knows this may be very painful for you, but Nora begs you to think clearly and not hate your children. They're innocent, Mother. They were also victims of the father's and the woman's guilt. They never asked to have a mother like that woman. So, Nora hopes you can be wise and mature as an educated person." He smiled, trying to calm his mother.

Rayna looked at her daughter with a mixture of feelings. He felt pain, anger, hate, but also love and pride in his daughter. He realized Nora was more mature and wise than he was. He nodded slowly, then replied, "Alright, Nora. Mother will try to control herself. But mother can not guarantee anything. It all depends on how they behave when they meet your mother at home."

Nora hugged her mother tightly, feeling the warmth of her mother's affection. He hoped his mother could understand his point. He did not want his mother to do evil things because she had been hurt by the father and the woman. Here they were all victims, including the girls.

"Let's go upstairs! Mother could not bear to see the woman's face again," asked Rayna while holding her daughter's hand.

...****************...

Nora lay on her bed comfortably. He put his head on her lap, feeling the soft touch of her fingers in her hair. He never thought this day would happen in his life.

Nora saw her mother take the wallet out of her bag. He was puzzled as to why the bundle had suddenly changed in a day, but he liked the change. He saw his mother stronger and more confident in front of the father and the woman. He hoped the mother would continue like that.

But, he was surprised when his mother gave him three cards. The cards are Black Card, ATM, and Debit. He sat up straight and looked at his mother in wonder. Why did the mother give the cards to him?

"Mother asks you to take good care of the cards. Don't fall into your father's hands! Now the cards in your father's hand are no longer useful. Mother has blocked all access. Most likely your father will search for the cards and will go back to torment you. But if the cards are in your hands, then your father will not be able to seize or do anything" Rayna explained calmly.

Nora understood the meaning of the mother. Finally the mother realized that her father was not as good as imagined by her mother. He took out his wallet from his sling bag and kept the cards carefully.

"Mother.. if Nora is holding these cards, it means Nora can arrange the finances of the house, right?" asked Nora curiously.

"of course. You set everything up. Mother believes in you" Rayna replied with a smile.

"Would Nora give her allowance to Ervin and her sisters, except for her father and the woman? Nora felt sorry for them too. They are still in school, but they have to live hard. Nora had seen the eldest daughter of the woman had to work hard to make money. If they are not given pocket money, they will not be able to eat at school. Moreover, the father and the woman do not have a job," said Nora carefully, afraid to hurt her mother's feelings.

Rayna was silent for a moment. He felt a tightness in his chest. He hated the children, but he could not bear to see them suffer. He knew Nora had a good heart and didn't want to see anyone else. He sighed, then nodded.

"Well, you can give them pocket money. But not too much. Enough for daily needs. Don't let them be spoiled or wasteful. They must learn to be frugal and independent. Because even though the mother and mother's family are rich, it does not mean we can waste money at will," said Rayna firmly.

Nora immediately smiled widely and hugged her bunda tightly. He thanked his mother in a cheerful voice.

"Thank you, Mother! Mother is the best!"

"Yes, the mother should have said that." Rayna smiles at least she still has Nora, her beautiful and mature daughter.
