Today Charlotte accidentally wakes up early and chooses breakfast outside to avoid her grandfather and brother.
But his steps immediately stopped when he was about to go down to the bottom floor, more precisely towards the dining table. There, he could see his grandfather and Xander who had already been at the dinner table.
For a few seconds, Charlotte stood still staring at the dining table.
"Why do they always get ready earlier than me anyway." murmured Charlotte sighed lazily, then continued her footsteps.
"Charlotte." exclaimed Mr. Romanov who saw Charlotte passing by casually.
Hearing that cry, Charlotte flicked her steps. Turn lazily towards the dining table. His face turned flat and pouted. He looked at Mr. Romanov with a grouchy expression.
"Why?" charlotte asked in a cold tone.
"Come, come closer!" mr. Romanov said calmly.
"I'm going to college." Charlotte refused.
"It's too early, eat first!" mr. Romanov said again while checking the watch in his hand.
Xander just kept watching. How dare he say anything when the two humans in front of him are talking coldly like this.
"Come, come here!" mr. Romanov's orders.
Charlotte closed her eyes, trying to suppress the emotions that were beginning to re-emerge. He was still aware that the man in front of him was his own grandfather. He opened his eyes again before answering.
"Yes, fine." replied Charlotte briefly.
After all, Charlotte also did not want to waste more energy to argue with her grandfather. It is still very early in the morning and it is still very long for him to live all day.
Charlotte then rushed to the dining table, waiting for the waiter who still looked to arrange the food on the table.
'It's not usually that the waiter still arranges food like this.' Charlotte's inner self.
But he immediately remembered that they were preparing earlier than usual days. Charlotte herself even got up and went to college an hour early. While Xander and Mr. Romanov had already arrived here earlier, it meant they were preparing earlier than Charlotte.
"Charlotte grandpa wanted to be-" last night"
"Can we just eat?" cut Charlotte in a indifferent tone.
"Grandfather just-"
"Let's eat quietly." once again Charlotte stopped her grandfather's speech, trying to hold back her emotions. "... Or I'll just go to college."
"We eat." said Mr. Romanov before sighing tiredly, choosing to give in.
Charlotte looked to roll her eyes lazily. Geez, this old man, they had even met for less than five minutes, but Charlotte had already started to get annoyed back at him.
Charlotte knew, she should not have replied in this tone to the grandfather. Last night's troubles weren't something that had to be allowed to drag on continuously and he should have let go of his emotions last night as well.
It's nothing, Charlotte just doesn't like to talk about it all the time. Yeah, actually he's been letting go of his emotions since last night. He didn't think about what happened last night. But honestly, Charlotte is not a hypocrite and in her heart there is still a little bit of resentment about Xander not coming to the nightclub because of her grandfather.
He should have forgotten that incident. But somehow Charlotte was so upset about those times. I don't know, it seems his ego is what makes him behave like this.
Charlotte glanced at Xander who was nearby. The young man was silent, seemingly focused on his food. Charlotte raises an eyebrow when she realizes that Xander looks moody.
Maybe it's just Charlotte's feelings.
Back then, Xander's eyes accidentally turned on Charlotte, causing them to look at each other.
Xander then tried to melt the awkwardness between them by giving a smile to Charlotte. But it seems that the girl has no intention of retaliating.
Realizing that, Xander smiled wryly. He could see Charlotte's face still looking angry. His gaze was so sharp on Xander. It was as if the girl was having the intention in her brain to eat Xander alive right now.
"What about Justin?" Charlotte suddenly said.
A momentary state of silence.
Charlotte was feeling awkward. He did not want his grandfather to feel surprised by himself who suddenly cared about Justin.
"Yes, I was just asking. I didn't mean to interfere about him. It's grandpa's own business." Charlotte spoke in an indifferent tone, she stuffed food into her mouth to cover up the awkwardness.
Mr. Romanov nodded, he understood his grandson's intentions.
"Grandpa will try to get him back to work with Grandpa."
Charlotte nodded.
The situation is back in silence. Each of them simply enjoyed the meal in silence.
"I'm leaving now" Charlotte said after enjoying a juice and a slice of bread. He grabbed his bag and immediately got out of his chair. His brows furrowed in wonder when he saw Xander who was coming along.
"I'm done too. Let's go together." said Xander grabbing his backpack and putting it on his shoulder.
Charlotte hurriedly turned her body towards Xander, she folded her hands, looking at the young man sharply.
"I'm not going with you."
"Charlotte, we haven't been together in a long time, so let's go"
"No."
"But-"
"I'll go alone. With my own car. And you're leaving with your car."
After saying that Charlotte continued her footsteps, ignoring the grandfather who was staring at them in silence.
Xander stared at Charlotte's departure. For years they have been going to school together. Going to college on her own made her feel a bit strange. Probably because of habits since childhood. But it's been a few days that Charlotte refused to go to college with him. Charlotte really intends to keep her distance from Xander.
As he sighed, Xander turned to his grandfather to say goodbye.
"Charlotte.." she exclaimed.
Charlotte didn't even turn her head and went down a row of stairs to where her car was parked.
The girl was about to open the door of her car, making Xander hurriedly hold Charlotte's wrist.
"Charlotte, I want to talk."
"What else is it?" ask Charlotte, puffed up.
"Since yesterday, you've almost never returned a single message to me when I was outside."
Charlotte raised her eyebrows. "What's the point of telling you?"
"Whatchu mean? Of course so I know your activities."
"For what?"
"Make sure you're okay."
Charlotte screeched cynically, "The same crazy excuse again."
"Why should we argue something like this, anyway?"
"It's for your reasons that don't fit the facts at all."
"I'm just worried about you, Lottie."
Xander was worried, of course. Some time ago, he got a tip from Laurent that Charlotte met someone at the club. Laurent tells her that he suspects it is Charlotte's ex-lover because they seem to know each other.
Charlotte even went to him first and looked very upset after returning from a conversation.
"You worried?" Charlotte laughs. "Don't joke something that's not even funny."
"Charlotte, listen to me. You-"
"You said you were worried about me, but you went with Grandpa more often. It's ridiculous!" charlotte said while shaking her head. "I'm going to go."
Charlotte was about to get into the car until Xander kicked her back in the arm.
"Let go, Xander!"
Xander was silent, he tightened his grip on Charlotte's arm while his eyes looked at his sister with a soft look.
"That night I did not come because I went with my grandfather. I was wrong, I admit. I'm sorry for that." Xander said in a soft voice.
"I really don't know how to make you forgive me anymore" Xander said desperately.
"There's no excuse if you're still following Grandpa. Because you're gonna keep doing the same thing like this and after that you're gonna apologize again, again and again."
"Grandfather is the one I have to obey Charlotte. You must understand me. I owe a lot to Grandpa."
Charlotte did not reply, only turning her eyes the other way.
"And also, what he did all this time must be only for your good as well" Xander said again.
“What kind of height? He just does what he wants. Not for the good of anyone. He's only doing this for one thing called 'ego'."
"In addition, what makes me so upset is that you didn't keep your promise."
Charlotte was tired.
"Easy! You can do what you want to do, Xander. Au won't ban you anymore. Do what my grandfather told you. But I. I don't want to follow her words." Charlotte said in an annoyed tone. He looked at Xander with sharp eyes.
Xander chooses silence, trying to understand Charlotte's emotions.
"Charlotte I know you're acting this way because of yesterday's problems" Xander said still trying to speak in a calm tone. "Let's fix everything. You and me, we can go together again, as usual."
This time Charlotte was silent.
He admitted that he was no longer angry with his grandfather or Xander. But he still feels upset. Come on, let him calm himself down first.
Xander suddenly sighed tiredly and lowered his head listlessly. He let go of his hand grip Charlotte's arm.
"I know I'm not perfect as your sister. But I always try, Charlotte. Please, let me try to be the perfect brother to you."
Charlotte blinked and looked at the older sister with teary eyes. The words the young man spoke were like a stab in his chest. It's training. To him, Xander had absolutely no flaws. He is the perfect brother. And because it's too perfect, that's what makes Charlotte feel hard to let Xander go.
Charlotte looked at Xander with a guilty feeling. He was too cruel to this young man. Yes, he admitted his treatment was outrageous.
Swaying, Charlotte closed both her eyes. The next second he opened his eyes and sighed then smiled faintly.
"I've forgiven you. Calm yourself a little." Charlotte softened her tone, choosing to beat her ego.
"Yes?" Xander round in disbelief. "What did you say?"
"We'll talk about this later." said Charlotte. "I'm leaving!"
"Hey, Charlotte say it again!" xander looked at Charlotte, who was currently wearing her seatbelt. "You mean it, don't you?"
Charlotte's gas-fired her car. Leaving Xander in the parking area alone.
Xander stared at Charlotte's car leaving the mansion at moderate speed. Secretly, Xander smiled. He was happy to know the fact that the girl had forgiven him.
"Thank you." he muttered.
