That afternoon, after college, with the backpack still hanging on his shoulder, Justin prepared to go to the cafe where Harry worked. He decided to apply for a job there.
"Justin!" yell someone at Justin.
The voice made Justin stop his steps and then turn his head. He found Charlie walking towards him with a smile.
"Charlie" said Justin. "Why haven't you come home yet?"
"You forgot? I'll have to take the assignment to the lecturer's room first."
Justin nodded. "Oh, yes I forgot."
"Oh yeah, you want to come home with me? I brought a car today. Aren't you leaving in a minute, how about we have lunch first." take Charlie.
Justin shook his head slowly. "No, I brought a bike today. I'm not going straight home anyway, I have a little business."
"Em fine, then I'll go first!" charlie said as he walked away from Justin.
"You be careful on the road!" justin shouted while staring at the departure of his best friend.
"Yes!" charlie replied. "You be careful too!"
Justin then resumed his steps and turned towards the parking lot to pick up his bike.
He then pedaled his bike out of the campus area and down the busy city streets by vehicle. Justin's bike continued to go to the cafe address given by Harry on campus.
Loffey Cafe, that's the name of the cafe where Justin will apply for a job. According to the information he had heard, this cafe is the most famous place in the city. Well, even though Justin himself had never come to this cafe before because he had never come to such hits.
After fifteen minutes of travel, Justin finally arrived in front of the cafe building he was headed to. The cafe was indeed quite close to the campus, but because Justin uses a bike so it takes a little longer.
At this time Justin did not immediately rush into the cafe. He even stood across the street from the building and was still busy staring at and admiring the cafe building which he thought was very large and also luxurious.
"The cafe is huge! The owner of this cafe must be a very rich man" he murmured.
Justin got off his bike, pushed him slowly towards the cafe parking lot to park it. Then after tidying up the clothes he was wearing, he immediately decided to enter the cafe building.
Justin slowly pushed open the cafe door and walked slowly inside the building.
But once inside, Justin suddenly stopped his steps and instead stood looking to the right and left. He was surprised to find the cafe situation seemed quiet, without visitors.
"Where are the people?" muttered.
"Excuse me!" justin shouted in a slightly louder voice. But there was not a single voice that answered, there was only silence that he could get, the cafe also looked very quiet.
"Excuse me!" repeat Justin while continuing to circulate his gaze throughout the cafe area.
Not long after, he finally found a woman passing by him. Justin walked quickly closer to the woman who seemed unaware of his presence.
"Excuse me.." Justin said softly to the woman.
The girl turned her head with a slightly surprised look but a few seconds later her face changed and her eyes looked in amazement at Justin's face.
"Sorry, excuse me!" justin said again, this time while waving his hands in front of the face of the woman who currently looks like a daydreaming.
"Ah, yes?" the girl then woke up. He then looked down embarrassed because he was looked at this close by Justin, who he thought was very handsome. Then he smiled. "Sorry sir, but we're on a break now and the cafe's going to open again at three o'clock in the afternoon!"
"Ah, so? I'm sorry, but the door wasn't locked so I-"
"Do you want to order something?" ask the girl curious.
Justin nodded. "No, it's not that. I didn't come to buy food."
"Ah, then, is there anything that can be helped?" ask the woman again.
"I want to ask you something!"
The girl nodded. "Yes. About what?"
"Em, so a few days ago a friend told me about the job opening at this cafe. And I came for the job. Is the job still there?"
Justin nodded. "Hum, my friend, his name is Harry!"
"Oh, you mean Harry, the manager at this cafe?" said the waiter while smiling kindly.
"Manager?" Justin looked in amazement. "So Harry is the manager here?"
The girl nodded then smiled faintly, confirming Justin's question. "Yes, he has served two years as the main manager at this cafe. Don't you know?"
"I don't know. Harry didn't say it either!" says slowly.
"Em, is your name Justin Kim?" ask the woman.
"Yes, I'm Justin Kim!"
"I'm Sarah" said the girl reached out and directly in reply Justin by raising his hand, receiving the speech.
"Harry told me about you a while ago. And actually, he's also the one who asked the employees here to reject job applications from others, just because he wants to recruit you" said the girl sumringah.
"Yes, he said that." Justin scratched his nape awkwardly.
The woman fell silent, looked at Justin for a while, then smiled stiffly. "You can be a waiter, right?"
"Can I!" Justin nodded quickly, answering enthusiastically.
"Well, then now you can go home first and come back tomorrow, around two in the afternoon."
"Tomorrow?"
The girl nodded. "Yes, from tomorrow afternoon you can work here."
"Start tomorrow?" Justin looked surprised. "But shouldn't I do a job interview first?"
"No need! Thank you for knowing Harry, so you don't have to do any job interviews. But remember, you should still give me your CV later!"
Justin nodded in understanding. "All right!"
"Harry said that you were a student and still active in college. So you'll only get a shift every afternoon and for two weeks you'll have to come every two o'clock in the afternoon. It was an hour earlier than the usual working hours, because we had to train you first to better understand the work system of the waiter in this cafe. Start order way, how to talk to visitors and other important things."
Listening to the explanation from the woman, Justin just kept quiet, focused on listening while occasionally nodding his head.
The woman then went on."You'll be working around three in the afternoon until ten in the evening. Ah, and one more thing, this cafe should always be overtime every Saturday and Sunday. But don't worry you'll get extra money with it. Do you understand so far?" ask the woman.
"I understand, miss." replied Justin smiling.
"All right! You can go home now and don't forget to come back at two o'clock tomorrow afternoon. And remember, don't be late!"
Justin nodded then bowed half his body politely and walked out of the cafe. He picked up his bike and started paddling away from the cafe.
Along the way home Justin just smiled. He was very happy because he did not have to bother anymore to work with many jobs to meet the needs of his life.
Moreover, he already knew from Harry that the cafe was the most famous cafe in the city and the salary he would receive was obviously impossible to mess around.
Justin hopes his new job as a waitress will help him to finance his needs. Because for the sake of this job Justin even willing to give up his other part-time job in order to be easier to divide time.
He then shook his head. "I can still drop off my paper every morning. And I think I can still be a food courier to deliver orders in the morning until noon every Saturday and week." he murmured.
Sure oes. It was Justin Kim! That's why he has to have a lot of part-time work. No matter how big or small the money is, you have to keep working and working.
He then glanced at the circular clock on his wrist and then muttered softly when he realized the time that was now showing at half an hour
"I'd better get home now" Justin said pedaling his bike faster.
He had to get home quickly so he could rest faster because his body felt a little tired now.
