Chapter 1: I'm a werewolf?!

Allana POVs

Kriying...!!!

The bell ringing of the lesson marks is over. I let out a sigh of relief. Today was exhausting.

"Where are you going after school, Allana?" ask Erica my best friend.

"I don't know. How do we get to the city and to the bookstore at the intersection?" my advice.

"Mr Bultner's bookstore?" ask Erica to make sure. I nodded excitedly. I really like books. I always take my time to that bookstore when I'm in town. I live in a small town called Riverville. The city is surrounded by rivers and vast forests.

"So.. Do you agree?" many ensure. I stood up from my seat, put on my backpack and walked along with Erica.

"But don't you go there often? What about the new burger shop? I heard the burgers and potatoes there are delicious, different from anywhere else."

"Uhm.. All right, but after that we go to the bookstore, okay? Pleases... I have something to buy."

"Aahh well, all right. You and your book. It's so hard to separate." Erica scolded. He shook his head. I hugged Erica happily.

"You are the best friend!!" my peek.

"Hi." Someone hugged us both from behind. He's Hope, my best friend, another one. In our last lesson we had a different class.

"Hi Hope." I said. "You want to come with us?"

"Where are you going?"

"To the city." answered me and Erica simultaneously.

"REally?!" pekik Hope girang's. "To place the new burger?!"

"Look at All, even Hope wants to go to the new burger, you want to go to the bookstore."

"To the bookstore? Any more?? Ahh All aren't you bored?"

"Of course not." I replied casually. I see Erica and Hope can only shake their heads.

I'm nerd? No. gabe. Bookworms? Yes! That'sme. I loved books from childhood, but I didn't look like a nerd. I look like another normal teenager. Like today, I was wearing my old blue jeans in plain white on a dark blue cardigan cap. My hair is long and light brown. I sliced hazel's eyes gently. Ahh yes, I am seventeen years old. I had a birthday last week. This year my family celebrated my birthday. My older brother, Derek, never existed. But he always sends me presents every year. Derek works out of town. And my sister, Alice. He's kulia in New York City. He rarely comes home. But last week when I had my birthday, Derek and Alice were at home and celebrating. I haven't been too close to Alice since she was busy in college.

Erica's car drove fast into town. The three of us sang like we were doing a singing contest. Hope was most happy to do that. He'll sing the loudest of us. Although the sound is pretty good, but still deafening, huft.

The three of us headed for a new restaurant in the city. There served some delicious burgers. I tried it and wow, it's worth a lot of people like this place even always crowded. We had to wait about thirty minutes to get in.

We went to my subscription bookstore, Mr. Bultner's bookstore. Mr. Bultner looks spooky and fierce but he's actually very kind and friendly. Many times I was given a discount when I bought a book. But he always said weird to me every time I bought a book there. He always said, "You're going to be a great warrior."

That said. I get confused every time he says that. A warrior? What warrior? How strange.

I'm out of the bookstore. Erica and Hope were in the car. I got in the car.

"So... Did Mr Bultner say the same to you?" ask Hope.

"Yup, he said it." I replied.

"What's really wrong with him? What warrior? Will there be a war? Is it possible to get dementia or..."

"Husshh don't be reckless." I rebuked. "It's not good to be prejudiced like that Hope."

"Well all right, all right. I'm mistaken. But he was weird" Hope said.

"I agree with Hope. She's weird." Erica muttered. We're still in Erica's car still on the side of the road.

"Ahh have you heard any new news?" hope said. Hope gets the latest news the fastest. His father was a sheriff in town. Even his elder brother Nathan, a deputy.

"What news?"

"I heard my dad tell Nathan they found some dead bodies in the woods."

"Ma-cadaver? In forests? The woods near our house?" ask Erica. Erica's face looked surprised, as did I.

"Yes! Five bodies were found. Wow, that's amazing!"

"It's awful." I muttered.

"Their bodies were torn apart and there was a neck that almost broke."

"What?!" pekikku and Erica together.

"Are you serious?" erica asked in disbelief.

"Did I ever lie about murder?" ask Hope who I think is a little upset. Erica and I shook their heads. "I'm not kidding. And I heard again, all because of the beast."

"I didn't know we had a beast in the woods." Erica muttered.

"I don't know either." I added. Yes, the forest in my town has not seen any wild animals in years.

"Maybe they immigrated?" guess Hope.

"I don't know, maybe." replied Hope. "But it's really terrible."

Tok tok tok tok

The sound of a knock on the windshield shocked the three of us. We screamed loudly in surprise. We turned to the window and there was Mr. Bultner there. I lowered the car glass.

"Yes, sir?" my many.

"Here, your book is left in the shop." said Mr. Bultner, handing over a parcel containing the book I bought. I received the parcel.

"Thank you Mr. Bultner. Sorry to bother." I said.

"It's okay, warrior, I'm happy to help." said Mr. Bultner then passed.

"He still calls you a warrior" Erica said.

"Just be wild. Let's go home. It's late afternoon." I said. Erica started running her car home.

Not long after we got near my house.

"Not to get to the house. Just end of the road." I said.

"Are you sure?" ask Erica.

"certain. Just walk a little."

"All right."

Erica stopped her car at the end of the road to my house. I waved my hand at Erica and Hope as I got out of the car. My house kind of went inside. The driveway is not wide so it is a bit of a hassle if Erica's car comes in. I don't want to trouble my friend anyway. I walked towards the house. Sometimes a long breath. Tiring days. Suddenly I remembered Hope's words about finding some bodies in the forest. I shudder in horror.

I turned the door knob and went inside the house

"Mom, I'm home." I said when I was inside the house. There is no lawfulness.

My mother used to always welcome me but this time there was no one. I searched the whole house, but found no one. There was no one in the house but the door was unlocked. It's freaky.

I keep finding weird things in my family. My brother Derek, on leave to work. He's been home for a few days. It's weird for me because if she takes time off she's always on vacation with her friend or lover. But this time he was at home all day. My sister Alice is too. He was supposed to go to college in New York but somehow he's here. I asked her if she was on college break, Alice always said she just wanted to go home and hang out together. An Alice who was not too close to the family suddenly wanted to get together? Bizarrely.

My father, mother and two brothers always talk after I sleep. I once woke up in the middle of the night to grab some drinking water and I saw them talking so seriously in the living room. When they see me they are silent. They stopped their conversation. Weird right? I'm sure there's something they're hiding from me.

I drank a glass of water in the kitchen while staring at the backyard. Behind the house there is a large yard. I used to play there as a kid. Suddenly something caught my attention. I narrowed both my eyes. Something deep red was on the ground. I'll come to him soon. A scarf. It was my mother's favorite scarf. Why is it here? Behind my house is a forest. I was a little scared to go into that forest. It wasn't Hope's story that scared me, but somehow the woods scared me. I saw something again not far from me standing. I approached her. A light blue shirt. Derek's Shirt? I smell the perfume and right, it's Derek's shirt. I recognized the perfume and I saw Derek wearing this shirt this morning. Mom's scarf and Derek's shirt? It's getting weird. I decided to go into the forest. Because those two things led me to the forest. I went deeper and found a pair of shoes that I believed to be Derek's. Brown and expensive leather shoes. Derek's favorite shoes. I'm getting confused.

Suddenly I heard a voice. From a distance I saw Derek there. He ran through the forest bare-chested. I decided to follow Derek. I wonder what exactly is going on. I'm careful not to get caught but try to be quick not to lose track of Derek. Derek suddenly stopped. He seemed to be staring at something. I can't see what he's looking at. I walked closer to find out. But before long I saw something I couldn't believe. Derek turned into... wolf? Wolves are pretty, no, no, very big. Oh my god, this is crazy!! Derek is that wolf, that wolf is Derek? If Derek turns into a wolf means he's... A werewolf?! I was so shocked. I thought werewolves were just myths, but I saw them with my own eyes. Man turned into a wolf and the bad thing is that man is my own brother!

I walked back slowly away from Derek but suddenly I heard a growl behind me. I turned my head and there were already two big wolves, as big as Derek's wolf. I was silent, unable to move. My feet are limp, making me fall on the ground. I remembered what my friend said about a corpse found in the forest because of a beast. If that ferocious beast were this huge wolf, I would definitely die now. I closed my eyes. I'm prepared if they'll hurt me or even eat me.

"Allana.." Someone called my name. I still haven't opened my eyes.

"Allana.." call her again. I recognize that voice. That voice is so familiar. I opened my eyes and was surprised.

"Y-mother?" I said. I saw my father, Derek and Alice standing near me.

"Allana.. Darling..."

"Mother, what's going on? W-Allana saw the wolf, ma'am, big wolf!! And Derek.." I pointed at Derek. "He turned into a wolf mom!!"

"Mom knows baby, forgive mom."

"Sorry why mom?"

"Because I didn't tell you this, but it's time you found out."

"W-what do you mean by mother? What things?" many confused. Dad came forward and looked at me.

"That our family has a great secret" said my father softly.

"Ra-secret be-big?"

"The secret we've kept for a long time and now, it's time you found out about it as well Allana" said my father in a similar tone. I just kept staring at my dad.

"Allana, our family is a werewolf family, you are a werewolf" my father said. This time I was very surprised.

"But.. That's not possible. It's just a myth!! Werewolves aren't real!!" my peek.

"No dear. Werewolves are not a myth, they are real. Like our family. We are werewolves. So are you."

"Tap-but.." I was so pale and confused.

"Just calm down my sister, I'll teach you" Derek said with his trademark grin.

Me? A werewolf? Oh god this is crazy.
