Chapter 261: Jeha's Attention
Jeha watched Ares sitting alone on the campus park bench. He had been watching Ares for some time and realized that his elder brother often looked gloomy and anxious. After thinking for a moment, Jeha decided to approach Ares and try to start a conversation.
"Hi, Ares," said Jeha with a friendly smile.
Ares was surprised and glanced at Jeha. "Oh, O Jeha," he answered briefly. Since long ago Ares was famous for being cold with the opposite sex. Only Irene could make him behave as he was.
"Are you okay?" ask Jeha again.
Ares smiled as he shook his head and gave the same answer, "I'm fine."
However, Jeha felt not entirely convinced by the answer and tried to knock Ares' heart out.
"I can see that you are not in good shape, Ares," Jeha said gently. "I'm sure it has something to do with Irene?"
Ares lifted his head and looked at Jeha blankly. After a while, he finally nodded slowly.
"Yes, maybe it's related to Irene," Ares replied in a low voice.
Jeha rounded his eyes. Actually he did not expect Ares would want to talk to him. He had already imagined that the man would throw him out for being annoying.
Jeha felt that there was more than sadness in Ares' heart. He asked softly, "What happened, Ares? Can you tell me?"
Ares was silent for a moment before he finally replied. "I love Irene, Jeha. I love him deeply. But unfortunately, my feelings are unrequited. He just loves my brother, Alan."
Jeha could see the pain in Ares' eyes. He was happy Ares could be a little open to him. He knows how hard it is for Ares to accept the fact that his love for Irene is unrequited.
"I know it's hard, Ares. But you should try to forget about Irene and let her time heal your heart's wounds" Jeha said.
Ares looked at Jeha blankly. She knew that Jeha said that kindly, but she was not sure if she could forget Irene. Irene had been a part of her life for the past year and she felt lost in her absence.
"You must think words are too easy to say. Not necessarily what is said can be done. I'm sorry if it offends you" Jeha said.
Ares laughing. "Just relax, it doesn't matter to me."
Jeha felt a sense of unease in her heart. He knows that Ares loves Irene very deeply and it can't be easy to forget that feeling. However, he decided to continue to provide support to Ares and help him to get through this difficult time.
"I'll always be here for you, Ares. Whenever you need someone to talk to or share a story with, I'll always be there for you" he said.
"Whoi, Ares!"
Glen, Ares' friend exclaimed as he walked towards them. Jeha was disappointed by the arrival of the man. His relationship with Ares is over.
"Why is it still here? Get to the training ground, yuk!" bring Glen.
"Ah, yes. I forgot to." Ares got up from his seat. "Jeha, I go first, I want to play basketball" he said.
Jeha put on a stiff smile. "Oh, yes. Go!" said.
Jeha sees Ares leaving and feels a little disappointed at not getting a chance to respond. He wanted Ares to know of his existence. He also wants Ares to know that he cares for her. However, he understands that Ares must go to practice basketball and hopes they can continue their conversation later.
During practice, Ares and Miko kept talking about the upcoming inter-campus basketball game. Miko shows him some new tricks and strategies that he learned and Ares feels good to be able to learn from him.
"You are indeed great, Miko," Ares said with a smile. "You always have awesome new tricks."
Miko laughed and shrugged her shoulders. "I'm just trying to learn and develop my skills. That's all."
"I also have to learn more, especially in leading the team" Ares said with a bit of worry. "I feel like I still have a lot to improve."
Miko stopped her steps and looked at Ares sharply. "What are you talking about, Ares? You've always been a strong leader on our team. You can always inspire us to work hard and achieve our goals."
Ares smiled and felt moved by Miko's words. "Thank you, Miko. You've always been a good friend and supported me."
Miko smiled and resumed her steps. "Of course, Ares. We are all here to support each other, both in basketball and in life."
While walking, Ares and Miko continue to talk about basketball strategies and tricks until they arrive in the locker room. Miko bailed to go home and Ares walked into the house, still thinking about the conversation with Jeha this morning.

A few days passed and Ares started to feel better. Jeha managed to make her smile again and distract her from Irene. They often spend time together, talking about things that are mild and sometimes serious.
One day, while they were sitting in a cafe, Jeha took a deep breath before finally saying, "Ares, I have to confess something to you."
Ares looked at Jeha with curiosity. "What is that, Jeha?"
Jeha bit her lips before finally saying in a soft voice, "I love you, Ares. I've felt like this for a long time. I know that you still love Irene and will probably never love me as much as I expected. But, I just want you to know how I feel."
Ares was shocked and did not know what to say. He never imagined that Jeha would like him.
"I don't know what to say, Jeha," Ares said in a soft voice. "I still find it hard to forget Irene."
Jeha nodded and understood Ares' feelings. "I understand, Ares. You don't have to be in a hurry to decide what to do. I just want you to know that I'll always be here for you, unconditionally."
Ares was relieved that Jeha could understand his feelings. She knew that maybe her feelings for Irene would never go away, but she also felt grateful to have a friend like Jeha who was always there for her.
"I don't know what the future holds, but I know that I will always cherish our friendship."
Jeha smiled and embraced Ares tightly. He feels happy because they can still be good friends even though Ares's feelings of love are unrequited.
"Let's enjoy today and wish the best for the future" Jeha said.
Ares smiled and nodded. She felt optimistic about the future and grateful to have a friend like Jeha who was always there for her. Although Ares' love is unrequited, he knows that he can still be happy in other ways and have a strong relationship with his friends.
