Chapter 291
Alan's first day back at work after a blissful honeymoon. He entered the office with a bright smile on his face, ready to return to activities. Employees who passed by him gave warm greetings and welcome back.
"Good morning, Mr. Alan!" greet one of the employees who passed him.
Alan replied with a smile. "By the morning too" he said.
Many greeted throughout his walk in the company lobby area. Though only 3 weeks he left the place but it feels there are many changes that occur.
"Sir Alan, congratulations on the wedding, yes!" said another employee.
"Yes, thank you," she replied.
"Sir Alan, welcome back" said another employee.
Alan could only return their greetings with a smile. He again walked towards the elevator door that was specifically used for the company officials.
"Well, Ares?" he was surprised to see his brother standing in front of the elevator.
"Sister Alan? Is the brother home?" ask Ares wonder. He was also surprised to see his elder brother there. He thinks Alan is still enjoying his honeymoon in Turkey.
"Yes, I'm home. I came because Papa told me to attend today's meeting. If you're alone?" ask Alan.
"Same. Papa also told me to come" replied Ares. His face did not look so cheerful. It felt like he had to come.
Elevator door opens. Both go inside. Alan pressed the floor number where the meeting would be held.
"How was the holiday?" ask Ares.
Alan had a happy face. "Fun," he answered.
Ares looked enviously at his brother. From Alan's face was already illustrated how fun the holiday passed by his eldest brother was.
"Where's irene?" ask Ares again.
"He's still resting in the apartment. Probably tired from the trip. I haven't had time to bring her home either" Alan said enthusiastically.
Ares nodded briefly, trying to hide his slightly complicated feelings. Even though Alan and Irene are married, Ares still has feelings for Irene, who is now her sister-in-law.
Alan looked at Ares' somewhat grim expression, but he chose not to offend. He knew that Ares's feelings were not easy, and he wanted to keep their family relationships harmonious.
The atmosphere was quiet again until the elevator reached the intended floor. They exit when the elevator opens and return to the meeting place.
"Oh, yes. How about Mom and Dad? Were they healthy during my stay?" ask Alan.
"I don't know" replied Ares.
Alan stopped his steps. He looked at his youngest sister with a look of astonishment. "Why are we talking like that? How did you not know about Mama Papa?" tanyakanya.
"What?" Alan was surprised to hear Ares's reply. "So where do you live?" tanyakanya.
"In Alfa's place."
Alan just remembered that Ares had returned the keys to his apartment. Usually if Ares wants to live outside, would ask to live in his apartment.
"Why did you stay outside? Want to focus the thesis?" ask Alan.
"My script is almost done. Just waiting for the trial schedule in a moment" said Ares. He replied with a lazy tone.
"Then, why are you living outside?" asked Alan astonished. Ares always stayed in that house because he was the last child.
"So shall you know" said Ares. He did not want to tell his current reason to his brother.
Ares continued his steps. He doesn't want to discuss anything, especially with Alan. Alan had to follow immediately in order to equalize the steps with his sister.
Alan turned his gaze around the meeting place that most shareholders had attended. His eyes stopped when he found Alex there.
Alex should be in jail. Alan was surprised to see his grandfather's killer there even in very neat clothes and sitting close to his father.
"Why is he here" cried Alan as he clenched his hand. His emotions rise to recall the death of his grandfather caused by Alex.
"Don't, brother," said Ares, holding his brother's arm.
Ares can read from the look in his brother's eyes who wants to beat Alex all out there.
Alan stared at Ares sharply. "Why is he here?" ask her with annoyance.
"The father who brought him came here, brother."
"What?" Alan doesn't believe in that fact. After enjoying his vacation, when he came home he had to meet people he hated so much.
"Papa also released Alex from prison. Alex is now home. That's why I chose to leave the house" Ares said.
Alan was increasingly distrustful of the decision his father had made. Although Alex is also his son, Alan does not think the father should just free Alex. Alex deserves to take responsibility for what he did in prison.
"So you know everything?" ask Alan to make sure.
Ares nodded.
"Why didn't you tell me?" alan protest. He was also disappointed with his sisters who did not give any news at all.
Ares was silent for a moment. "I'm afraid of interrupting your holiday, sister," he said.
