"Hello, Ma?"
Irene picked up a call that went into her phone. Indira, the mother-in-law contacted her.
"Irene, I hear you're home, huh, with Alan?"
Irene felt bad because she had not had time to contact her mother-in-law. "Ah, yes, Ma. I'm sorry I haven't been able to come there yet" Irene said.
"It's okay, what matters is that tonight comes home, yeah! There's a family dinner. Don't forget to tell Alan, too."
"Em, yes, Ma. I'll tell Brother Alan. He's still in the bathroom" Irene said.
"Yes, my mom just wanted to say that. See you tonight."
"Yes, Ma."
Irene turned off the phone after their conversation ended.
"Darling, who's the phone?" alan asked who had just come out of the bathroom. He had just finished his afternoon bathing ritual.
"Ah, Mama called, Brother," replied Irene.
Alan scrunched his forehead. "What did mama say?" tanyanya.
"Mama asked us to come home tonight. Said there was a dinner."
Alan's face turned grim. "Why didn't you reject it?" he showed an expression of dislike.
Irene's astonished turn. "Why indeed?"
"You forgot, Alex now lives there. I don't want to meet him!" asserted Alan while walking towards the closet to look for casual clothes that will be worn.
Irene had forgotten that her husband had been having issues about the father-in-law who put Alex back in the company.
"Em, Honey ... This is an invitation from my mom. At least we have to respect it" Irene said.
"You're the only one leaving if you want. I don't want to go!" firmly Alan. He is indeed the type of man who is stubborn and firm in his stance.
"So, aren't you ready yet?"
Irene sat on the edge of the bed with a slightly moody face. Alan, her husband, was standing by the window, looking hesitant. Irene wants to take Alan to a dinner at the Alan family home, but she knows that Alex, who has just returned to work at their family's company, can create tension.
Irene pursed her lips. "Honey, come on, come to the main house dinner. Mama invited us in particular," he whined in a soft tone.
Alan turned to face Irene, still hesitating. "You know how I feel about Alex. I'm still upset by papa's decision. I'm not sure I can face him now." he conveyed the reason for his reluctance to come to his own house.
Irene tried to reassure Alan in a soft voice. "We can't avoid it forever, right? It was my mother who asked me to come. We haven't been there since we got back from Turkey either."
Alan let out a long sigh, trying to understand Irene's argument. "I know, Honey. But my feelings for Alex have not fully recovered. I don't want to ruin the mood later."
He is still trying to stay in the company. He feels he can't be in one place with Alex anymore.
Irene looked at Alan with a gentle gaze, trying to persuade him even harder. "Honey, if we don't come, they'll be disappointed. We can try to solve this problem with an open heart."
Alan rubbed his temples with a sign of fatigue. He began to consider Irene's words. "Alright, I'll try, but just because you got an invitation directly from mama. I don't want to disappoint them."
Irene smiled with relief at Alan's decision. "Thank you, honey. I know it's not easy for you, but I'm sure we're going through this together." she hugged her husband affectionately.
"I did it just because of you," Alan said in a lazy tone.
"Yes, honey, yes ... Hurry up now change clothes!" Irene Pinta.
She pulled her husband to the walk in closet. From the series of clothes that were there, Irene chose clothes that were in line with the dress she was wearing.
"What about this, honey? Nice, right?" Irene asked enthusiastically.
Alan just nodded in agreement. He simply wore what his wife chose. After all, he had no intention of coming to his family's dinner.
Alan took off his clothes. He is helped by Irene wearing formal clothes suitable for dinner. Irene was so painstaking in helping her husband get ready.
"Already, now it's handsome!" praise Irene.
Alan gave a kiss on his wife's forehead. "Let's go now" he asked.
