Chapter 4: Getting to Know Alex
“How about your lecture the first day?” ask Alex while focusing on the wheel.
Irene was quite surprised Alex wanted to talk to her. “Lumayan fun, Kak.” But there was only one person who asked him to talk, namely Bian.
“Thank God. I'm afraid you'll have trouble adapting to your new environment.”
Alex's words appeased Irene. Of the five young masters that made him have to exhaust his feelings, there was at least one who still treated him well.
“Where are we going?” Irene asked as Alex turned his car towards the mall.
“You take you out for a meal and a walk. Isn't it boring just playing at home.” Alex said it with a smile. “Later, if you have memorized this area, you can go around alone or go with your friends.”
“Sister Alex is not shy?”
“Thy? Why should I be ashamed?” Alex glanced at Irene.
“Sister brings ugly people to the mall. Isn't embarrassing? Moreover, Sister's appearance is very cool,” Irene smiled awkwardly.
“Somebody says you're ugly?”
“Sack Arvy.” Irene answered without hesitation. Arvy is indeed the most blatant show of dislike to Irene.
Alex smiles. “He really likes it that way. Maybe because he was used to gathering with beautiful and handsome people. I am also often criticized if my appearance does not match his taste.”
“I'm self-conscious, Brother. I'm ugly.”
“Beauty or ugly is relative. If others cannot appreciate us, at least we should respect ourselves. Never insult what is inside of us.”
It's hard to believe that anyone would treat an ugly person like him well. In fact, Irene herself had been picky friends based on physical. He himself did not like his extremely ugly disguise.
After getting out of the car, Alex took Irene's hand. The woman's feeling was flowery. He felt treated with specialness by someone sincerely despite his appearance was very clumsy.
Along the way many were watching them with strange gazes. Of course Irene understood the meaning of that gaze.they must have thought that they were incompatible. Alex was holding his own maid.
“We ate there, huh?” take Alex while pointing to the Japanese restaurant in the food court area.
Irene just nodded. Alex seemed eager to pull his hand toward the dining area that was almost full of visitors. With his manners, he pulled a chair so Irene could sit easily. Whoever gets such treatment will surely have his heart melted. A waiter came up to them and gave them a table of food menus.
“What message do you want?” Alex thrusts the menu board at Irene.
“I'm up to Alex's sister only.”
“True, yes. Don't regret my choice later.”
Irene nodded. Alex orders shabu-shabu and tonkatsu. Coincidentally the food is indeed one of the favorite types of food irene.
No need to wait too long, the waiter has returned to bring a tray of meat, mushrooms, and vegetables to be cooked with the sauce warmed on the tools that are available on each table.
Irene's saliva seemed to melt seeing her favorite food. Alex put the vegetables and meat little by little into the boiling sauce. After the meat was cooked, he brought the meat to Irene.
“What is this wagyu meat?” Irene chewed while feeling the tenderness of the flesh inside her mouth.
“I really like this meal.” Irene developed her sweetest smile.
“I'm glad to hear it.” Alex is smiling. “How do you feel when you first get set up?”
Irene slowed down her food. “I think my Grandpa has gone crazy,” he said.
Alex almost laughed and spouted his food. “Uhuk! Uhuk!” he choked.
Irene handed Alex a bottle of water so the man could drink it.
“So, you also don't like being betrothed to one of us?” Alex did not expect that Irene did not like the match.
“One of you really likes me?” Irene gives a question back that is able to silence Alex.
“Maybe because it's also our grandfather gives us a chance to get to know each other. Who knows if someone will have the same feelings as you.”
“If I thought among you no one would like me.”
“But, didn't you have to marry one of us? There must be a threat, right, if this matchmaking fails?”
Irene was silent for a moment. He recalled the words of his grandfather who would exile him to Nusa Kambangan for life if he did not want to get married. She did not have to marry the five young masters. However, he still had to find a future husband in order to please his grandfather.
“Alex?”
A beautiful woman suddenly came over while they were talking. Irene observed the woman's appearance from top to bottom. All the things he wears are branded goods. His appearance was very neat like an office person. His body is tall with body proportions like a model. From the makeup and look on her face, Irene could guess if the woman was a good person, not antagonistic face.
“Erika.” Alex immediately got up from his chair while hugging the woman casually.
“Sit with us,” take him.
The woman named Erika obeyed Alex's request. He smiled at Irene in a friendly manner.
“Irene, this is Erika, my business partner and friend.”
Irene's guess in the heart was wrong. She thought she was Alex's girlfriend, but she was just a friend. Surprisingly, a woman as beautiful as Erika is only considered a friend, especially a person as ugly as herself would probably deserve to be considered a bath mat. Alex is like an abnormal guy who doesn't like such a pretty friend. If Irene were a man, she would love that woman.
“Hello, Irene. You must be the lucky woman who can live in the Narendra family with the five handsome princes of the fairyland, right? Alex told me about yourself. I envy you,” seductress Erika.
Irene smiled. Erika was not as bad as she thought. In fact, he seems like a fun person. Just met her, she asked her to joke. “If Brother Erika wants, can you exchange places with me? Inner burden once stay with those five people.”
Erika laughed at Irene's words. The woman Alex and her siblings were dating was a funny woman. “I'd love to stay at the Narendra family mansion. I just need to close my eyes to choose one of them as a husband because they are all superior seeds. It's just, I'm afraid of Alex.”'s grandfather Erika brought her face closer to Irene while closing her hands to her mouth so Alex didn't know what she was going to say to Irene. “People are fierce and creepy,” he said softly.
Irene widens her eyes. He had never met Grandpa Narendra. If the five young masters alone can obediently be betrothed to an ugly woman like her, then Grandpa Narendra is all that. Irene could not imagine if grandfather knew his future daughter-in-law was a very ugly woman. He might be kicked out of there. He smiled at himself imagining it.
