20 Years Adrift
Chapter 22. Traumatizing

The memory of Kayra is replayed in Affan's memory. His wife died shortly after giving birth to Faya. The incision wound of the operating knife took his life and inflicted a deep wound on Affan's heart.

Since then, Affan has always been overwhelmed with sadness every time he sees a wound. He also always keeps Faya as good as possible so as not to be scratched in the slightest. Once Faya was injured while playing with his childhood friend, he immediately took her to the hospital.

Affan suffered from a phobia about scratching wounds after Kayra's death. The slightest injury would make him panic and quickly take him to the hospital.

The car they were driving had arrived in front of a clinic. Affan got out of his car quickly and opened the door for Aira.

Many patients queue there, but Affan tells the nurse that his wife is injured and must get help immediately. Aira was taken to the IGD room and immediately got treatment.

In the examination room, Aira looked puzzled as the nurses asked for her injuries. He asked the female nurse who saw the wound.

"Sorry, Sus. It seems my husband is overdoing it. He was so freaked out when he saw me get hurt." Aira opened her veil and showed her the wound.

"Is this just a wound, madam?" the nurse asked while examining Aira's face and neck.

"really. Someone pulled my body so firmly that this hijab needle hurt the skin" Aira explained.

The nurse nodded and said, "You are very lucky to have a husband who loves you very much, Madam."

After finding out if the patient did not need special action, another nurse left the room. There was only one person who treated Aira's wounds.

The nurse cleaned the wound, applied medicine, and then covered it with plaster. When he was done, he reported Aira's condition to the doctor who was on guard to make a prescription.

"It's a recipe you have to make up, ma'am. There are some antibiotics and cures for wounds." The nurse handed a piece of paper to Aira.

"Thank you, if you'll excuse me. Assalamu'alaikum," said Aira politely.

"Wa'alaikum salam. You're welcome, Madam."

Affan immediately got up from his seat when he saw Aira coming out of the examination room. He hurriedly approached her.

"Hurry up, Aira. Did they check you out right?" Affan saw the plaster on Aira's chin.

Affan breathed a sigh of relief. His hand grabbed Aira's hand and grasped it tightly. They walked past the queue of the patients sitting along the corridor who were stunned at the two.

Affan's handsome face made him look younger than his age. No one would have thought if the two had a considerable age difference.

A pregnant woman was queuing in front of them while waiting for the medicine. She sat down accompanied by her husband who also looked older than her. Aira kept looking at him and imagined that the woman was her.

'Is Om Affan also going to treat me like this couple in front of me, huh. I don't feel sure, but it's also possible. I don't know ....' Aira looked at Affan who also saw the couple before her. His face looks gloomy.

'Kayra, I have found your replacement. I started to fear losing her after I lost you. It seems I hesitated to have another child after this.' Affan suddenly grabbed Aira's shoulder and hugged her tightly.

Aira is shocked to receive Affan's treatment. He hesitantly returned his embrace. Without them noticing, the people around them noticed what they were doing.

"Ehem!" The pregnant woman was shaking.

Affan and Aira immediately let go of his embrace. They look misbehaved when they see people around them watching both.

"Is your wife also pregnant, sir?" ask the pregnant woman's husband.

"No, Sir. We just got married" Affan replied nervously. His hands became sweaty with a face that looked timid.

The man nodded.

"May we soon have descendants. We also only got offspring after five years of marriage and running a pregnancy program" she explained without shame.

Affan just nodded. His heart was worried again. While others were struggling to get offspring, he was instead trying to resist the windfall for absurd reasons.

'Until when this fear will pass. Forgive me, O God, I have no power against your destiny, but I do not want to lose my loved one a second time.
