20 Years Adrift
Chapter 6. Honestly Try

Faya was unaware of Aira's change in facial expression. As she looked at him Aira simply smiled and nodded.

"What are we going home for, Faya? Is Om Affan going to pick us up?" ask Aira.

There are many things she does not know about Faya's life. Although they are close friends, Aira does not know much about the internal affairs of her family.

"No, Ai, I mean Ma. Mr. Toni's gonna pick us up. Dad only picks me up if he wants to or Mr. Toni is taking a leave of absence" Faya explained.

"Hm." Aira nodded.

The two of them stepped towards the gate. Several times they greeted a friend who passed by the two.

The sky looks cloudy. January is the rainy season that makes students shelter at stops and shopper offices that line the roadside.

Faya's pickup car was waiting at the end of the road. Aira walked after Faya walking closer to the parked car not too far from the school gate.

Tony opened the door for both of them. He was not surprised by Aira's presence there because bi Sumi had told him everything.

"We went to the hyperm*rt that was on the deck of the house first, yes, sir. There are things that we have to buy" said Faya when they were in the back seat with Aira.

"Good, Non."

Aira was tense again. He doesn't have any money.

'Would I tell Faya that I don't have money, huh? But I feel bad for him.' Aira weighed in her heart.

Faya looks sleepy when the car he drives starts to walk. Aira looked at him with a feeling of uneasiness.it seemed like this was not the right time for her to talk.

'Faya was asleep because she slept for only a few hours. I can't possibly wake her up and tell her my problem.' Aira saw that Faya had fallen asleep. Habits he has known for some time.

While they were studying together, Faya fell asleep several times in a sitting position. Usually this happens when they study at Faya's house.

Actually Aira was also very sleepy but she was trying to endure it. He saw the streets of the city flooded with water. Although the rain had stopped, the streets still held rainwater.

The cold car air conditioner makes Aira can't stand it either. He follows Faya to their dreamland. Both of them fell asleep for a long time because the jammed streets slowed their journey.

Mr. Toni knows that Faya is still asleep, but if she doesn't wake him up then he will be angry. The car he was carrying had entered the parking lot of a shopping mall not far from the residential complex where Faya lived.

Before getting off, Mr. Toni peeked out of his rearview. However, Faya has not yet shown any signs of waking up. Eventually he was forced to call her from the front without opening her car door for fear of surprising them both.

"Non Faya! Not Faya!" call Mr. Toni half-whispering.

Although Faya himself asked to be awakened, but Mr. Toni still prioritizes manners. He repeatedly tries to wake Faya up until something unpleasant happens.

A new sports car emerged from the back and nudged the Faya. This incident made the three of them flinch.

Faya and Aira who had not fully realized were very surprised and looked confused. They think Mr. Toni hit something while driving.

"Astagfirefull!" faya and Aira said almost simultaneously.

The two looked at each other and looked around, while Mr. Toni had gotten out of the car before. The driver who had been working for about five years was walking quickly to the car that had hit him.

The tall young man walked over to Mr. Toni who was welcoming him. His face did not look sad but was not happy either. His bulenya face showed a mysterious expression.

"Good day, sir. I'm sorry I wasn't careful when I parked." Despite being able to speak fluently, the bule speaks with a slightly different accent.

"Let's check how bad this car damage is," asked Mr. Toni after seeing the good faith of his employer's car bumper.

The left side of Faya's car was scratched and slightly dented. They research other parts if there may be damage.

"It seems like this, sir. I will be responsible. We're going to take this car to the garage and let me pay the bill" said the young man, who asked Toni to record his mobile number.

Faya and Aira got out of the car and walked over to Pak Toni. They wanted to see what was happening directly after realizing the circumstances around him.

The young man who hit Faya's car was dumbfounded to see two girls in high school uniform before him. If he attended a regular school, he might be sitting at the twelfth level, the same age as Faya and Aira.

Faya and Aira are both beautiful but Aira's face looks sweeter. The young man tends to glance at Aira rather than Faya who is no less beautiful.

"What's up, Mr Toni?" tanya Faya saw her driver was talking to a foreign man. He had actually heard their conversation, but he wanted to hear everything more clearly.

"This thing accidentally hit your car, Non. He realized his mistake and wanted to take responsibility for it."

Faya nodded.

"Yes, already. Mr. Toni take care of this. I want to go shopping and get home before you get home." Faya pulls Aira's hand walking away leaving the two.

The crossbred man looked stunned staring at Faya and Aira who were walking away leaving him. His heart was tempted to know them.

"My name is Steve, sir. It's papa's business card. You can borrow the phone, let me write down my number you can call." Steve looks in a hurry.

Mr. Toni gave his phone to Steve after receiving a business card of a leader of a large company. For him the most important thing right now is the responsibility of Steve not how rich his parents are.

After they agreed to meet tomorrow at a workshop, Mr. Toni let Steve go.

Faya took a shopping trolley. Aira looked at him with a tense face.

After gathering all her courage, Aira held Faya's hand before they entered into the super market.

"Faya, I'll just wait outside, yeah." Aira spoke in a very slow voice.

"Are you not feeling well? All right, let's go home, then, let's go shopping later." Faya prepares to return her trolley and bring Aira home.

"No, Fay. I'm doing fine. It's just ...." His words halted for a moment and again said, "I have no money at all."

Aira doesn't care if after this Faya thinks she married her father for money. He was just trying to be honest with his true circumstances.

Faya looked at Aira in disbelief. His heart seemed to be sliced to see his friend who looked tough would say that.
