20 Years Adrift
Chapter 56. Misunderstand

Bimo stared intently at Amanda with a full of threats. If Aira hadn't asked for it then she would have kept Amanda there anyway.

Slowly the grip of his hand stretched. Before it was completely detached, Amanda had pulled it hard and then left.

"There's a bad one." Bimo muttered softly which was barely audible.

He then goes before Affan and Aira to inquire about the continuation of the thanksgiving.

"No problem. Just continue with the show." Affan has been patient over this event.

"Good, Boss."

Everyone went back to the thanksgiving and entered the banquet session even though it was already tasteless. They understood how sad Aira and Affan felt over Amanda's attitude of trying to slander them with fake news.

Aira thought about Amanda's fate after this which of course would feel devastated.

Thank God that God is still protecting my disgrace from being spread.

Aira clasped Affan's hand tightly. They walked around to greet the guests and employees.

All the employees and guests congratulated the two of them.

"Blessed, Aira. Although in my life there's another Amanda-Amanda who might come to interfere. I will remain firm with my faith."

"Thank you, Mom."

They looked at each other for a moment before returning to continue the event. Their hearts had not regained their composure but the two tried to cover it with a smile.

"Dad, let mama rest with me there. I'm afraid he's exhausted." Faya looks worried.

Affan nodded then said, "Go with Faya, Aira. You can't be too tired."

Aira nodded and left Affan alone in the middle of the party.

The thanksgiving event went well despite a slight disturbance earlier.

By three o'clock in the afternoon, the thanksgiving was over. Affan helps Aira pack.

"Darling, you don't want to stay here again last night?"

"No, Mas. To me the most comfortable place is our own home."

The three of them finally returned home with mixed feelings.

Along the way, Aira was more silent and daydreaming. Although Amanda is so evil but she feels sorry for her.

Affan misunderstands Aira's question and thinks his wife still has doubts about him.

"Mas doesn't know," ketus Affan.

Ketus Affan's answer made Aira's guts shrivel. His heart was very fragile and prone to grieving. Aira crying.

"Dad, talk softly to mama." Faya pulled Aira's shoulder and hugged her.

Affan who sat in the front seat with the driver also regretted his words. His body turned back to look at his wife's son.

"I'm sorry, Aira. I didn't mean to yell at you. I don't know anything about Amanda and her pregnancy. Really, By Allah."

Aira wiped her tears and looked back at Affan.

"I don't mean to accuse you, Mas. I just feel good about Mbak Manda. Being pregnant without a husband is certainly very difficult for her."

Affan again misunderstood Aira's statement. This time he thought if Aira wanted him to take responsibility for the mistakes he had not made.

"I don't want to talk about Amanda anymore. He's a nobody and forever will be."

Faya rubbed Aira's back gently. Silence is better for him than adding to the murky atmosphere.

'Astaghfirullah .. Why Mas Affan? I can't think negatively. Maybe at the moment he is tired and sleepy because last night we did not sleep well.'

Aira tried to succumb to the situation and save her sense of care. After this he promises himself not to discuss Amanda's issues with Affan again.

It was getting dark when they got home. Bi Sumi and her two companions had arrived home first before them.

"I'm hungry, Aira. What do you want to eat? Are you Faya too? I'll just order a restaurant. Poor Bi Sumi and the others are tired." Affan pulled out his phone to send a message.

"I'm just a special fried rice, Dad."

"I'm the same as Mas Affan."

"All right, I'll order it now. You shower!" Affan ordered food at a restaurant not far from their residential complex. Not to forget he also booked for three ART and his drivers.

Inside the room Aira was stunned staring at a photo she had picked up from the party room. Among all the photos that Amanda shared, this is what she thinks is the most original. In the photo Affan is seen, Amanda and a woman posing in a high school uniform.
