20 Years Adrift
Chapter 89. Traffic News

Looks like Affan took Sapphira to his room last night. He should still be here at this moment. Aira finished her cleaning quickly because she wanted to ask Affan about Safira immediately.

"I'm done, Mas" said Aira.

Affan immediately turned around and faced her and smiled.

"Are you hungry? Pity the city's children if you don't eat something." Affan sat on the chair beside Aira's bed.

"So, right, already drank milk and ate an apple. It's gonna be a little while for the nurse to deliver breakfast to the patient." Aira smiled and was happy to always get Affan's attention.

'Eh, yes, I almost forgot to ask about Safira again.' Aira kept recalling the question to be asked in her mind.

"Yes, that's it. I want to have coffee on the couch." Affan moved from his seat.

"Wait, Mom!" exciting Aira.

Affan sat back and waited for what his wife wanted.

"What's up, honey? Tell me if you need anything." Affan said patiently.

Aira shakes.

"I just wanted to ask you about Sapphira, Mas. Didn't he sleep here last night? Did Bella take him home?" tanya Aira could no longer hold back her curiosity.

Affan forgot to tell Aira what happened last night. Looks like this morning is the right time. Aira had to know what she had missed when she fell asleep.

Affan briefly describes the life of Bella and her family. They could not afford to pay Sarah and Sapphira for long periods of time. For that Affan and Faya agreed to accommodate and finance both as long as Hana has not healed.

"I'm sorry if I didn't ask you for your opinion first, honey. I'm afraid Hana's two children were abandoned while Bella was working. I hope you understand." Affan felt guilty towards Aira.

Aira smiled and felt grateful that her husband cared so much for Hana's children in need.

"Mas Affan said what. Why should I apologize? Instead I was happy to see the care of Mas Affan. No need to delay doing good. Thank God if they live in our house. Bi Sumi would definitely not mind babysitting Safira." Aira spoke sincerely.

Affan almost forgot that Aira's shoulder still hurts. She had already leaned her body to embrace him. It was fortunate that he immediately remembered it and switched to rubbing Aira's distended stomach.

Aira smiled at her husband's silly behavior. She knew that Affan wanted to hug her. If this is so funny, she laughs.

"Darling, don't laugh at people who are longing. You should know if longing is contagious. If I miss hugging you right now, you'll feel it soon, too" Affan teased.

"Hmm, indeed. It's I've contracted. But how else, my shoulder becomes a hindrance."

The two laughed together. They feel funny in their own way. Their jokes for a moment can drive away the boredom that plagues their hearts.

Circumstances sometimes turn around where Affan often acts like a child and Aira is more mature. However, the two complement each other. Aira's presence makes Affan's life more colorful even though he often neglects his existence if he is busy with his work.

At home Faya did not feel lonely because he was busy taking care of Sarah and Sapphira. He arranged their needs ranging from food, clothing to the smallest things. Sarah is more independent, after bathing and breakfast the driver just drove her to school while Safira still needs a companion, Bi Sumi and Netti who take care of her.

After returning home from college, Faya plans to go to the hospital and proposes to find a baby sitter for Safira. Bi Sumi was old enough to take care of her while the other assistants also had to do their jobs.

Although Faya is still less than 20 years old but she already has quite mature thoughts. Life without a mother makes it an independent figure and not spoiled. In addition, his understanding and caring nature made him want to continue doing good.

Today Aira had to undergo a gynecological examination. The incident that he experienced allows the occurrence of disorders in the fetus but this is not certain depending on the physical condition of a person. The medicines given to Aira were also highly regarded. At the age of the womb that has entered the second trimester is very prone to early contractions.

"Did Affan not work today?" ask Aira.

Affan sat down at Aira's side again after taking care of the cutlery on the small table next to Aira's bed.

"How can I work, honey? I can't do anything and keep thinking about you. It is better that I am here to accompany you until you fully recover. Regarding the work Bimo and Hendro can handle it. I can count on them."

If you have to be honest Affan did think of some jobs that can not be replaced by others. However, he could postpone it at a later time. Otherwise Bimo would have taken him to the hospital to work on while looking after Aira.

"alright. It's up to Affan. I also enjoy being accompanied like this every day," Aira teased.

"It looks like I should think about how to retire early from now on." Affan felt anxious and showered Aira with a kiss.

They joked lightly and made the boredom that had originally begun to stop Aira disappear. Accustomed to living with a myriad of activities makes Affan also no less bored. There was nothing he could do while in the hospital other than sit and walk around Aira's room.

Tired of their jokes, Affan turned on the television and saw the news. When he changed the TV channel as wildly as seen a brief news flash show. The title on the glass screen caught his attention.

"Sintya!" pekik Aira who was also watching television.

Affan nodded while listening to the news that appeared there. To clarify his voice, Affan pressed the remote button and increased the volume of his voice. Both of them then look focused on listening to the news aired.

"That's why he pretended to be crazy! I can't just let it go." Affan looks very angry when he finds out that Sintya will be rehabilitated and put in a mental hospital afterwards.

"Already, Mas. We have no solid evidence to ensnare him with a heavier sentence. Remember that God's judgment is fairer for him!" Aira tried to calm Affan down.

Affan could not calm down. Unbeknownst to Aira, he and Bimo have gathered much evidence of Sintya's lunge in a world of darkness. It seems that this time he also had to secretly submit the evidence he had to the authorities.

"You're too good, honey. Criminals do not deserve mercy. I'm afraid he can still hang around and attack you again, honey. Sintya was so evil, there was no way he could turn out to be good in an instant. The ill-gotten money in his body was ingrained and affecting his behavior." Affan wants Aira to understand if we want to do good we also have to look around first.

"I just don't want Mas Affan much thought. Take care of the job, take care of me, and still have to take care of Sintya, hmm." Aira revealed the reason.

"You take it easy, honey. As long as I am given health, I can handle everything. And your prayers are very important to me too, dear." Affan grabbed Aira's hand and then kissed the back of her hand.

"Always ...," replied Aira with her cheeks that met with redness.

Not long after, a nurse came in with a wheelchair to pick up Aira. The time for the examination has arrived. Obigyn's doctor was waiting for them in the examination room.

Affan walked beside Aira following the nurse who was pushing the wheelchair. They walked through the corridor that passed through Hana's treatment room. The room looked quiet as if there were no signs of life in it.

Aira followed Affan's line of sight and asked, "Who's room, Mas?"

Affan looks flabbergasted. He did not know that Aira was watching him. At a glance, he looked over to see the room.

"Oh, that's Hana's room. It looks like he's not conscious yet" Affan explained as he pointed towards the room.

"Has not found a suitable blood donor for him?" ask Aira again.

"It has. The Dharma doctor has got it. Hopefully Hana will soon wake up and be able to regroup with her children." Affan was concerned.

"Hm." Aira nodded with a smile.

Their chatter stopped because they had already reached the obstetric examination room. There were still a few patients queuing in it but the Aira examination schedule was already set. Diana's doctor prioritized hospital patients who had been scheduled before returning to handle patients from outside.

Affan lifted Aira's body as carefully as when he lifted her up on a wheelchair. The nurse pushing the chair helped hold the chair. Aira looks embarrassed because she can actually walk, Affan is the one who forced her to obey.

"Good day, Mr. Affan and Mrs Aira" said Dr. Diana.

"Good day, Doc," Affan and Aira answered almost simultaneously.

Doctor Diana walked over to Aira who had been lying on the examination table. Behind him stood two nurses who worked as his assistants. They helped prepare the tools and recorded the results of the examination conducted by Doctor Diana.

"Can we start the examination now?" ask Dr Diana to ensure Aira's readiness.

"I'm ready, Doc." Aira wanted her examination to be quickly completed.

Outside the room there were several pregnant women who were waiting in line, Aira felt sorry if they had to wait a long time. You could say he was very lucky because there was no need to queue every time he did an examination. Usually Affan also makes a personal appointment with a doctor before doing a routine checkup.

Dr. Diana worked very carefully. He examined Aira painstakingly to make sure there was no trauma to the fetus when she was being abused.

Affan felt anxious and hoped that the situation of Aira and her prospective children was fine.
