- Carel
In the end I could not forget what Aster said. Maybe he was right about some things, but still not entirely true.
Should I try to talk about it again with my father and grandfather? Is it true that they won't listen to me because of my wrong way of speaking? My mind kept wondering all the way to my mother's ward.
I went straight from the Veren residence when Uncle Ansel returned from his office, and for not wanting to be pounced on by him either.
She saw me dancing with Aster in the greenhouse, then suddenly took me noisily and kicked me out of her house, "It really sucks. Though I still want to linger with Aster, but the old man does not allow me to get close to his daughter." My mutter recalled Uncle Ansel's piercing gaze that was so intimidating, giving me goosebumps half to death.
His change of nature really surprised me, who would have thought that a cold person could seem to love his daughter that much.
"So you didn't listen to me?" Mother's voice stopped the movement of my hand that was about to open the door of the ward before me.
Wh who? Hasn't anyone ever visited my mother except me? Inner wondering.
"I'm sorry I couldn't do anything for our son." Said someone in a familiar voice, "but I'll try something to help Carel as much as I can." The next thing surprised me.
"Mistake no mistake, this voice .. Dad!" My murmur immediately opened the door of the mother's ward and made them startled.
"Carel, you're coming again." Mum muttered while showing her warm smile, in contrast to the father who avoided my gaze.
"Why did you come?" I asked as I walked closer to my mother's bed.
"Is there a prohibition that I shouldn't visit my own wife?" Dad answered making me angry.
"Didn't you ever visit mom? Why did it suddenly come?" I asked again while glancing cynically at him, I don't know how my hostile instincts naturally appear every time faced with father and grandfather.
"Carel, actually your father often visited to see the condition of the mother. It's just that the time is never with you, nor do you put such an expression on your son. How can he not misunderstand you if you keep putting on such a serious expression? Show me your smile too." Obviously mom was at length before giving a lecture to dad.
"So dad ...." I immediately got a quick nod from my mother.
"Since Carel has come, I'll leave now. Take care of yourself." Said the father as he got up from his seat and immediately grabbed the black suit at the end of the bed.
"Wait!" My prevent succeeded in stopping my father's move.
"What's Carel?" Ask mom to look confused.
"I .. Can you persuade Grandpa to cancel my enrollment at the academy? I really don't want to enter the academy, let alone have to stay in the dormitory. I–only, just want to go to school in an ordinary place so that I can visit my mother every day and–" Obviously I stopped when one of my father's palms landed on my shoulder. I see you already smiling at me.
"Don't you want to be a doctor?" Dad asked to surprise me.
"Ba–how did you know?" I can't believe what I just heard. Besides, I never told her my dreams.
"Mom told him." Mom answered making me look at her who was already smiling warmly at me.
"Eh? Why are you telling me?" I ask can not understand what you think, even though mother has promised not to tell anything about me to father. But he told me my dreams? Unbelievable.
"Mom thinks your father should know about what his son aspires to, besides that the task of parents is to help his son to realize his ideals, right? Whatever you want to be, mom and dad will always support you. So you don't have to worry." Obviously mother with her soft voice that made me unable to wiggle.
"Yes but you know that my father and grandfather wanted me to be the successor to the Alterio family, then how can I become a doctor?" I asked along with the palm of my father who had landed on the top of my head.
"For the time being I can only help you get into that academy. About being a successor or a doctor, you can think about that later. The important thing is that you have to study first at the place that your grandfather set up–" Obviously father stopped when I clapped his hand from the top of my head.
"No way!" Refuse me can not take my father's decision for granted, "until whenever I do not want to be the successor of the Alterio family. Wouldn't a more deserving brother be the successor to the Alterio family?" I continued, clenching my hands together as tightly as possible.
"So brother ...." I muttered trying to digest mother's explanation.
"And you, you will be the next successor of the Alterio family. You'll take care of your father's family company after school." Continue, showing a warm smile that I have not seen for a long time.
"But I–"
"You don't want to go to the academy?" Mother's question made me nod weakly.
"Hem .. if you still think you don't want to be the next successor to the Alterio family. Then if I can, I can lead the Alterio family until you get married and have a child. Then your son will be my successor." Obviously dad holding his chin made me surprised by what he said.
"A–what do you mean? Me–married? Why think of such an uncertain thing?" I stammered so surprised, even mom had laughed at me silently while dad put on his big smile.
"Of course you should get married. But for the time being my request is only one, go first to that academy. You are free to choose any major there, because from the beginning I had planned for you to go there. It's nothing, I just don't want you to go through a tough school period because of the incident one year ago." It definitely made me think back to that terrible event.
"But grandpa–"
"For your grandfather's business let me take care of it, you don't have to worry. Leave it to me."
"Mommy will recover soon, too, so you don't have to worry about me anymore. Learn hard to quickly become a great doctor." Mom said so excited to make me smile with relief when I see a mother like that.
"Ah, it's like this. I gotta go, don't come home too late." Say it before you go.
"Yes." Yeah." I answered watching his departure, even unconsciously the corner of my lips was raised now. There was a feeling of relief deep within my heart.
"Hehem," mumbling mother still smiled widely, distracting me from the door.
"Why?" I asked while sitting in a chair that was available next to the mother's bed.
"All his misunderstandings have been resolved, haven't they?" Mother's question made me unable to pucker.
"In addition, your father was completely reliable. Despite her nature like that .. But, every time she comes to see me, she always tells you. It seems like he's been worried about you a lot, ever since that big incident he's always been thinking about your future." Mom kept me touched.
If you remember that day, you seemed so worried about me, but he was so good at hiding it and making me think badly of him.
Since the departure of my brother, I have judged my father badly. He means well ....
"You're not asking why your father put you in the academy?" Mother's question made me shake questioningly.
"Because only that academy doesn't receive bad news about you, and again the principal is an acquaintance of your father. So he can trust you completely to the academy." Mom made my eyes look surprised.
"So so ...," I muttered with a big smile.
Looks like I'll have to apologize to dad properly later. I continue in my heart.
"In addition, tell me more about Aster. I want to hear about Aster." Mother's voice surprised me who was daydreaming.
Every time I come to visit, I always want to hear about Aster. Though I used to just idly tell the story of Aster to mother, but somehow since when, long ago mother became like the child. He had never met Aster.
