Chapters. 109 - Protector

A few minutes before departure. When Zhao Bingyan was still inside her room and took care of some books that were falling from inside her shelf. Someone knocked on the door from the outside and made Zhao Bingyan stunned as soon as she saw that someone was trying to talk to her when she was about to leave.

"Who is that?" Zhao Bingyan asked after she heard the voice.

"Xing Ruo wants to talk to the Great Master." Say it from behind the door.

Zhao Bingyan was silent for a moment while watching the door before she replied, "Come in."

Not long after he ended his sentence, Xing Ruo opened his door and entered his room paying attention to the surrounding situation that seemed quiet and silent.

"What's wrong? Why do you want to talk to me?" Zhao Bingyan asked after she saw Xing Ruo who had closed the door again.

"I heard, the Great Master will be performing a palace assignment together with young Master Mu and Miss Ying."

"Then why?"

After he ended his sentence, Xing Ruo immediately walked up to him and knelt before him like he wanted to beg for something.

"Great teacher Zhao! Please involve me in the assignment this time!" Xing Ruo said in an imploring tone.

Zhao Bingyan who heard and saw him kneeling before her felt very surprised because all this time, no one disciple had wanted to take his time to do the assignment of the palace. Usually he would appoint certain people and would force him if the disciple refused.

"Don't lower yourself!" Zhao Bingyan said as she tried to make Xing Ruo stand who had kneeled before her. "... In any case, I have sent Mu Chen Xiao and Ying Tian on assignment this time and can only have two disciples involved."

Xing Ruo raised his head back and he spontaneously said, "But, Master! Can't I replace Miss Ying in this assignment?"

During these few years, Xing Ruo had never been far from Mu Chen Xiao. He always protected her at all times and considered her like his own brother. Zhao Bingyan even thought that Xing Ruo was actually from the Mu family. Because there is no way that someone would sacrifice their own life just because they want to protect someone who has nothing to do with it.

"Xing Ruo! Are you from your family?" Zhao Bingyan asked with a concerned face as she looked at him.

Hearing that question, Xing Ruo was so shocked that he was even speechless. The man once told him to keep his family name a secret. However, if he could not keep it a secret that person would immediately kill him.

"No, Master! This disciple is not from your family." Xing Ruo replied in a low tone and a face that looked trembling as he recalled what the man had said to him.

"Then, what's your plan right now? Do you have any reason why you keep protecting Mu Chen Xiao?" Zhao Bingyan asked who was starting to seriously look at him.

This would probably have gotten worse if Xing Ruo had just said the truth. He could not tell the reason why he had always been protecting Mu Chen Xiao and had always stood next to him if only he was not prepared to receive an attack from his enemy. He did this because of orders from his master and so that he could live longer.

"I'm sorry for this student's care. If the great master refuses, then I'll be out soon." Xing Ruo said in a voice that sounded trembling as he continued to be asked things that should not be answered by him.

After he ended his sentence, Xing Ruo immediately stood back up and walked out of Zhao Bingyan's room with a pale-looking face.

"Wait on! Ruo Xing!" Zhao Bingyan exclaimed which managed to make Xing Ruo stop walking as he was about to open his door. "... You're not allowed out of the Sect until I get back and if you have a big problem or someone is threatening you, you can tell me." Zhao Bingyan said back.

Xing Ruo was speechless and expressionless as Zhao Bingyan said that to him. He did not look happy at all when he heard Zhao Bingyan who tried to care about him when, in fact, he never worried about the plight of his many students.

After Xing Ruo left his room, Zhao Bingyan who was still staring at his door kept thinking about the relationship of the two. It was possible that all this time he did not know what plans had been prepared by the other party to destroy it. He was also very sure that Xing Ruo was forced to do it all because someone had threatened his life.

"A long time! When will I wait for him here?!" Mu Chen Xiao complained on his horse after waiting for Zhao Bingyan for 30 minutes.

"Well! So annoying! Why should I get involved with him?!" Said Ying Tian in annoyance after he got the news that he was going to do the assignment with Mu Chen Xiao and Zhao Bingyan.

"Huh? You're not happy if you have to do it with a master teacher?" Mu Chen Xiao asked after he heard Ying Tian speak whose remark was referring to someone.

Ying Tian stared intently at him and said, "Why don't you just die there!" His words that managed to make Mu Chen Xiao speechless expressionlessly stared at him.

"Young Master!" The young man who is now next to his horse.

Mu Chen Xiao turned his head to the right and he saw Xing Ruo who had now been standing next to him with his right hand grasping at something.

"Ruo Gege's? What was? Are you looking for me?" Mu Chen Xiao asked after he saw Xing Ruo who had been standing next to him.

Xing Ruo smiling kindly looked at him and replied, "Nothing. I'm just here to give something to the young master." He said as he placed a small pouch over Mu Chen Xiao's hand.

The small pouch he was given was very similar to a protective amulet that was usually placed on a newborn baby. The goal is to protect the baby from the interference of evil spirits who try to influence it.

"What is this thing?" Mu Chen Xiao asked in surprise after Xing Ruo gave the pouch to him.

Xing Ruo smiled tremblingly and replied, "It's nothing. But, I hope that thing can protect the young master."

Mu Chen Xiao felt puzzled after Xing Ruo explained that to him. He could only think of how a light empty bag like this could protect him along the way.

"Ahhhhh,... No need!" Said Mu Chen Xiao who directly rejected Xing Ruo's giving. "... I must be fine there."

However, when he tried to return it, Xing Ruo rejected him back and said, "Please young master accept it. I'd be happy if the young master accepted."

Since Xing Ruo had so forced her to still accept it, Mu Chen Xiao ended up keeping it under his clothes and said, "Alright, I'll keep it. But, why did Ruo Gege give it to me? What's in this little bag?"

"It's nothing. I just want the young master to accept it." Replied Xing Ruo who looked bitterly smiling as he gave it.
