DAMNED GIRL

DAMNED GIRL
5. ASK FOR BLESSINGS

“Not me did it!” Yumna shouted loudly with reddened eyes and stared intently at all the citizens. Along with that also the wind blows strong blow dry leaves.

The branches of trees moving violently were blown by the wind that came suddenly. The atmosphere suddenly turned gripping and the air felt increasingly cold piercing to the bone. Silent moment. The voice that had been screaming in tears was only able to be silent to see the gaze of Yumna which made my feathers goosebumps.

“Already, already! It is better to contact Mr. Lurah so that this corpse can be taken care of immediately,” said Mr. Udin broke the silence.

The wind slowly subsided at the same time Yumna also slowly began to calm down. They were forced to follow the advice given by Mr. Udin and chose not to discuss this first. Mr. Udin divided the residents into several groups to go to Mr. Lurah's house. To report to the police station and clean up the remaining blood still inundating the terrace of Yumna's house.

Almost three o'clock in the morning. Eventually their problems were resolved as well and some residents began to disperse from the Yumna home page after the bodies were delivered to the funeral home in the next village.

“Abas and Yumna, later in the afternoon you are asked to the police station to provide information on this incident. I hope you can work together,” said Mr. Lurah when the residents have begun to be quiet and only Abas, Yumna, Wandi, Yayan and Pak Udin.

“The four of you don't forget to come to the funeral. This incident is your responsibility also because you are on guard duty at the patrol post when this incident occurred.” The four of them nodded then Mr. Lurah passed by leaving those who were still standing in front of Yumna's house.

Abas stared fixedly at Yumna. His tongue was twisted when he wanted to inquire about the incident to the woman. After he thinks back, Abas undoes his intention to discuss it now and he will find the right time to get an explanation from Yumna. They all say goodbye to each other's homes, tonight's incident feels very tiring and they need a break before tomorrow awaits.

...***...

The atmosphere of the cemetery was so crowded with people who were shocked by the thief's death. His death still holds a big question mark. Several residents from the same village as Abas were also there. They also watched the funeral of one of the people who upset the community in recent weeks.

Abas' eyes looked around the corner of the cemetery. He looked for Yumna in the crowd of other residents. Perhaps the woman came to worship. After a long sweep of every face that was there, finally Abas' eyes stopped when he saw a woman standing under a shady banyan tree within about ten meters of his position.

“Yumna!” abas shouted when he saw Yumna standing in a black shirt, complete with a scarf covering his head.

Yumna ran when she realized Abas was walking towards her. In the blink of an eye, Yumna escaped Abas's sight. No matter where he went, he just disappeared when Abas was chasing him.

“Yes done,” muttered Abas then returned to the funeral.

Eleven o'clock during the funeral procession went well. Mr. Udin, Yayan and Wandi pamit first to the office lurah to meet Mr. Lurah to provide an explanation for the incident last night. Abas went to the police station to give the same information.

When Abas arrived at the police station, there was Yumna waiting there. The woman sat in a long chair in front of the investigation room while wringing her hands.

“Yumna!” greet Abas and be greeted with a smile by Yumna.

Abash sat right next to the woman. His eyes fixed on Yumna from the tip of the hair to the tip of the foot. Thousands of questions flashed through his brain and could not wait to be let out. But Abas held back, this was still not the right time for him to discuss the incident.

“Yumna, right at the funeral earlier you why run when I samperi?” abas asked, remembering the incident this morning at the funeral.

Yumna's forehead frowned upon hearing Abas' question. “Cemetery? I didn't come there just now, Mas.” Again Yumna showed a plain and innocent face that made Abas more confused.

Abas took a deep breath, he had to postpone the question and had to focus on the matter first.

...***...

Late in the evening Abas arrived at his home. The investigation went so far as to take a long time for Abas to answer all the questions that went to him and Yumna. Fortunately, there was no evidence that led to Abas and Yumna as perpetrators, so they could be freed from the allegations as suspects.

Abas cleans himself and performs the Magrib Prayer. As a Muslim, he must fulfill his duty to worship the Creator even though as dense and busy as he may be, as gratitude for the blessings and gifts that God has bestowed in his life.

After the Magrib Prayer, Abas immediately remembered Yumna. He immediately cleared the prayer rug and stepped out of the house towards the Yumna residence.

Yumna's house looks quiet and dark, only the living room lights dim. He walked up to the door and knocked slowly.

Tok tok!

Many times Abas knocked on the door, but there was no reply from the host. He was sitting on a chair on the porch of the house. He chose to wait for Yumna there because he thought it was possible that Yumna was outside.

Just a few minutes Abas waited, he heard a sound coming from inside the house. He put his ears back together to hear more clearly.

“Ah .. ah ...” Abas' eyes widened as he confirmed the sound he heard was the sighing of a woman.

Abas walked towards the west side of the house leading to the door of Yumna's room. The closer he got to the sound the more it sounded clear. Abas' heart was racing, he didn't know what to do. With hesitation, Abas peered through a crack to see what was happening inside the room.

“Astagfirullah!” abas said softly as he stroked his chest, he was surprised by what he saw.

Under the dim light of the living room lamp that entered the room, Abas saw Yumna lying on the bed without a shirt wrapped in her body. He seemed resigned and enjoyed when his body was touched and overpowered by the figure of a very terrible creature. The creature was half-snake and its entire body was green.

Yumna's sighs sounded louder and louder. It seemed to dissolve in the desire created by the creature. Suddenly, Abas and Yumna's eyes clashed. From that narrow gap, Abas could see Yumna smilingly staring into his eyeballs which made Abas startled and immediately ran off the ridge.
