For A Husband Who Doesn't Love Me

For A Husband Who Doesn't Love Me
08. Commitment

After Hidayat died, Maira called Bu Zainab. He has prepared himself by dressing up, also putting on a wide smile.

"Sorry, Mom, last night Maira forgot to take Maira's phone out of the bag... Maira just saw Mom's call..." Maira told a lie.

"But Maira's fine up there, right? Hidayat treated Maira well, right?" I heard Bu Zainab asking worriedly.

"Thank God be good, Mother... I don't have to worry about Maira. Bang Hidayat took care of Maira right here... Thank you, Mom... Maira is very happy because Mother has chosen Maira to be the daughter-in-law of Mother to bang Hidayat..."

After calling, Maira did not let her tears spill back like last night. He went to the neighboring houses as planned. Bu Yanti and Shinta along with several other neighbors were so happy to have a presence at the compound.

"Hidayat never told Mom about your marriage before. Only when he wanted to go home yesterday said it..." Said Bu Yanti enthusiastically.

"Yes, ma'am, our marriage was so impromptu..." Maira replied looking sad.

"But son Maira has absolutely no objection to this marriage, right?" Tanya Bu Yanti looks concerned about the change in the hue of Maira's face.

Maira smiled, she shook her head quickly. "Maira was happy to be married to bang Hidayat, Mom... Maira had long since put her heart to him..."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yes, Mum... Maira wishes our marriage was like the wedding of bang Ajiz and sister Zahra... They're not even in the world anymore, but Maira is pretty sure that they're happy there..."

Bu Yanti nodded. "They're the best couple I've ever seen, son... Always happy, and they smile kindly to everyone here... May the son of Maira and the son of Hidayat be so..."

"Aamiin, O God..." Maira rubbed her face with both of her palms. He hoped that the more he prayed for his happiness with Hidayat, the greater the opportunity for God to grant him.

Maira said goodbye home. He spent half a day just walking around and visiting neighbors near the house. His mind began to calm down a little, and he also looked cheerful after being greeted and well prayed by the neighbors.

Maira walked into the kitchen, she saw a lot of food in the refrigerator. He began to think of something he had to do. She did not care what Hidayat said, because she knew that her husband would not care. He only focused on his task to make Hidayat's heart open by his efforts that continue to knock.

A few moments later he was ready with a neat Muslim dress out of the house. He challenged a large enough stacking, then took an online taxi that he had ordered.

Ten minutes into the journey, Maira reached the kiosk of her sister and sister-in-law. He saw the atmosphere of the stall was quite crowded even though it was almost a break.

"Assynoltom..." He said when entering the stall, making all stunned by his arrival, not least Hidayat himself.

"Wa'alaikum hail..." Answer the kiosk employees.

"Neng Maira brought food for us too huh?" Rizki who was packing customer shopping goods, immediately welcomed the bushel that was still in Maira's grasp.

"Yes, Ki... Later we will finish our zhuhur prayer together..." Maira said with a smile to release the bushel into Rizki's hands.

"Thank you, Neng Maira..."

Maira nodded then walked towards Hidayat who was watching his arrival awkwardly. "Didn't answer Maira's greeting?"

"Eh?" Hidayat fell to hear Maira's question. His wife was very wise to choose the time to interact with him. "Wa-wa'alaikum hail..."

Maira smiles. In his heart he was very happy for this situation, although he did not expect much in the future when they would return alone at home.

Hidayat who was at the cashier's desk immediately turned around to approach Maira's position. He grabbed Maira's arm and pulled her back.

"Why are you here?" Hidayat looked at Maira with dislike.

"Maira's bored, Bang..."

"I told you..."

"Abang said what is it? Why did this angry brother see Maira coming?" Maira's question remained soft.

"It's just today, right? Otherwise, please take care of this stall yourself, and I'll take my hands off afterwards..." Hidayat looked so angry.

"No..." Reject Maira quickly. "Maira has heard of Zahra's struggle in the success of Ajiz's bang at this stall... Bang Ajiz only has the skills and energy, while his capital from brother Zahra all... We don't want to be greedy, Bang..."

"Let's make a commitment... But, please don't grey our marriage... Let this go until we're both tired..." Cetus Maira was so brave. This time he looked at Hidayat's angry face with all his heart.

"What commitment do you mean?" Challenge Hidayat.

"Maira will continue Maira's studies here..."

"Good then..." Sela Hidayat's.

"Abang opens the kiosk until two, while Maira is going to college... After Maira's college, Maira will replace Abang at the kiosk, and Brother can lecture his afternoon..." Maira.

"Do you want to work at this kiosk?" Ask Hidayat as if in disbelief.

"What's wrong?"

"No... There's nothing wrong... It's getting better..." Answer Hidayat while throwing his face away.

"But..."

"I will guide you to this day, and tomorrow you will be accompanied by a new employee here..." Tukas Hidayat interrupted Maira's speech.

"Thank you for understanding..."

***

The break time passed, Hidayat and his employees returned to work. And the first time for Maira to work at the kiosk of the deceased brother's legacy. He kept the pain in his heart, because the dream that he had been cultivating, even just vanished.

In order to maintain the commitment between them, Hidayat willingly taught Maira one by one the price of goods and their layout.

"Well, there's a customer coming in... Learn to make notes..." Hidayat's orders in a quiet voice.

Maira rushed over to the customer who had just entered.

"What do you want to add, Mom...?" He asked with a friendly smile.

The customer nodded to Maira, but after that he turned to Hidayat.

"This is my wife, Ms. Jeri..." Hidayat was forced to come closer.

"Wife? When's the wedding, Yat?"

"It's only been three days, Mom..."

"Oh... You didn't say it, Yat... I should have sent you flowers... But yeah, that's it... Your own fault..." Omel customers who look familiar with it.

"Bang Ajiz's sister, Mom... We got married simple..." Hidayat said.

Ms. Jeri looked back at Maira. "Right, Dik, you're Ajiz's sister?"

"Yes, Mom..." Maira said while nodding. His face turned soft, making Nidayat also filled. No matter how angry he is about their current status, he still feels the pain of Maira over Ajiz's departure.
