Chapter 109's

“Winter.” Leathina muttered softly while thinking second-guessing who some would come looking for her.

“Do you know who will come Lea?” Nina asked Leathina who heard Leathina mutter earlier.

“Winter, definitely Winter is coming! from the beginning they never returned to the kingdom. But still remain in the border city.”

“What do you mean Lea?” adam and Troy asked Leathina almost at the same time.

“This is bad, they split two squads. The first team was led by Nicholas and the second team was led by Winter.” Clearly Leathina panicked, and walking towards the window she saw a troop of soldiers now entering the grounds of the old mansion where they were hiding.

“You're in danger Lea.” Others screamed as they looked out the window and saw the soldiers surrounded them.

“Lea come!” Adam immediately took Leathina away through the side door.

“Damn it!” Let Adam down when he saw some soldiers covering the exit he was about to pass.

Adam immediately retreated and returned into the mansion still clasping tightly onto Leathina's hand.

“Lea! Lea!” Adam shakes Leathina's shoulder trying to resuscitate her, Leathina's eyes empty from thinking too hard trying to find a way out that now urges them.

“Adam!” leathina then stopped Adam from shaking her.

“Lea fast we have to get out and escape from here.” Adam dragged Leathina back to the other exit but was stopped by Leathina because the entire exit was now guarded by soldiers no one could enter or exit the mansion that now.

“Gosh how is this, they'll take you. I shouldn't have brought you back and stayed in town in a few days.” Adam panicked and started to blame himself.

“Come on Lea, you have to hide until they finish checking.” Adam pulled Leathina back to take her somewhere to hide.

“Adam.” Leathina again stops Adam while he is still trying to take her into hiding.

“Adam they have seen me.” Said Leathina resigned and fell down.

“What's Lea?”

“Why do you think they can come suddenly like this just after I get back? That's because they've seen me, they know that I'm coming back today. That means for these few days they have been secretly searching for information and keeping an eye on this mansion.”

“Maybe, but you don't have to worry about hiding lah.” Adam spoke while helping Leathina get back on her feet and tried to bring Leathina hiding somewhere.

“Adam, what if because of me you were all arrested.” Leathina panicked and covered her face with both hands.

“Lea rest easy no one will think like that.” Adam tries to bring back the now-frightened Leathina.

“Betul we don't think so.”

“Miss Betul, we have often been in situations like this.”

Others also calmed Leathina down, trying to help her get out of her slump.

“What are you doing Adam! Quickly take Lea away before the damn soldiers come in and take her.” Nina yelled at Adam as the two of them were still in the main hall used as a bar in the mansion.

“Quick bring Lea, we will block them.” Troy again gave orders to Adam because he still saw Adam and Leathina and had not left the place.

Me, I'm bringing havoc to these people. It seems like I really have to follow destiny. Oh my God what I did because my ego wanted to live I made these people die because of me.

“Lea, quickly follow me.” Adam immediately took Leathina again to get out of the base which had now been fully encircled by the soldiers.

“No, no, Adam.” Leathina refused again as Adam tried to take her away.

“Lea?”

“They'll all die trying to defend me, and I can't let them sacrifice their lives just for me. Then leave me to them.”

“Can't!” adam snapped suddenly to the surprise of Leathina and took a few steps back.

“I can't give you to them, You're worth Lea.” Adam said later and made Leathina again surprised to hear his words.

“Adam?”

“I can't just give you Lea, It's Ed’ boss's order not to let you get caught.”

“But Adam I have to! I don't want them to die in vain for defending me.”

“Lea, if they find out that you weren't kidnapped but hiding in the headquarters of the shadow soldiers who work as shadow killers like us they will accuse you of being a criminal. They will give you a tougher sentence for cooperating with criminals like us.”

“I have no problem with that, after all I am a criminal.” Leathina said no problem with the consequences she would get.

“They came to take you back, they're looking for you not because you're a fugitive.” Finally Adam tells Leathina that he can't bear to hear Leathina mention herself as a fugitive.

“What do you mean Adam?”

“Your sister that you saved that night stood up for you, and explained everything but the next night when you suddenly had your tweezers gone, you disappeared, they think that someone kidnapped you so that's why I didn't agree to give you to them here, you've been looked down upon by everyone if they catch you here then you'll also be a criminal for being with us. You'll be ostracized for the rest of your life.”

“If you don't want me to be like that then use me as a shield.”

“What do you mean?” Adam did not understand Leathina's words.

“Use me as a shield, make it seem as if you really kidnapped me and asked for a very high fee as a ransom for me after that threatening them to say if they catch you then you will kill me. If they really want me then they will definitely pay for it and if it works then there will be no fighting and bloodshed going on.”

“There is no time for Adam, others I beg you to cooperate with!”

“Some of you acted as Adam's plotters and the rest pretended to be commoners or adventurers lest they suspect that this was your base and not hunt you all down. Quickly close your faces, they're coming!” Shouted Leathina told everyone who played the kidnapper.

Leathina immediately approached Adam after seeing him covering his face with a cloth, after which she then pulled the sword that was being held adam and placed it right around his neck making it seem as if Adam was going to kill him.

“Give the woman!” one of the soldiers shouted as he entered the mansion and saw Adam about to injure Leathina.

“Winter!” Leathina strangles in fear, Leathina fearing that Winter will realize that they are working together.

“Leathina!” Winter almost ran towards Leathina when she finally managed to find her during her months of search. Realizing Leathina's extremely dangerous situation Winter uncovers her intentions and slowly retreats a few steps to keep her distance as the person holding Leathina hostage further curbs Leathina with his sword.

“Do not approach if you do not want the life of this woman to drift.” Adam is now pretending to be a kidnapper.

“Keep your sword away from her, tell her what you want to ask I will give it in exchange you must release the woman.” Winter attempts to make an offer and negotiates to save Leathina.

“Alright, I have three conditions that you must meet if you want this perempuan safe.”

“Say.” Winter immediately responded and wanted to hear what kind of conditions would be put forward by the criminals who are now holding Leathina hostage.

“First you must redeem this woman.”

“How much do you want?” Ask Adam about Winter.

“Bring me five hundred bags of gold today.”

“Well I agree, I will bring you today as well. Mention your second terms.”

“Second, Send back the soldiers who besieged this place and only you can be here to make the exchange.” Adam made the second condition.

“Can't be like that!”

“We don't accept!”

“Who will know what you will do to our leader if we leave him alone.”

“As my soldiers said sir, I do not agree if they send me back. Wouldn't it be unfair if you were with your gang and me alone it would be the same as me handing myself over to you.”

Winter's subordinates disagreed with the second condition Adam had proposed to Winter, it was because they considered that it would be too risky if only Winter was there while the other criminals were watching.

“Alright if you disagree, then this woman you want will die here.”

“Arghh!” Lathina screamed in pain as Adam pulled her hair and pointed a sword at her neck to scratch her skin and bleed fresh from Leathina's neck.

Hearing Leathina in pain also made Adam surprised almost he threw his sword but was held back by Leathina who now seemed to try to release Adam's grip but instead Leathina was actually holding Adam to not let go, Adam must continue to play the villain until the end.

“Leathina!” Winter who saw that became very worried when he saw the sword of the person who was restraining Leathina was now slowly wounding Leathina.

“Alright Sir, I will send my soldiers back, but I beg you not to hurt that woman!” Winter could not bear to see Leathina hurt and was ultimately willing to accept Adam's terms first.

“All of you, come back first and wait for me to come back unless Lard you come back and bring the money as they requested.” Winter gave orders to his subordinates to return immediately.

“But lord Winter?”

“We can't leave you alone in a place like this.”

The subordinates of Winter again did not accept the decision that Winter chose, but when he saw Winter staring at them all with a sharp gaze they all fell silent and finally chose to follow Winter's orders to return.

The soldiers eventually retreat and return to the city leaving Winter in the old mansion with the criminals who are now holding Leathina hostage.

“Now, please state the terms of the latter.” After all the soldiers return and tell Winter alone, Winter finally qualifies for the final conditions that will be put forward by the men who kidnapped Leathina.

“I'll say it when my money has come.” Adam replied in response to Winter's words while pulling back his sword from Leathina's Neck.

“Srek”

Adam immediately drew his sword back and sat Leathina in a chair then tore off the end of Leathina's dress until her calf was seen.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING!” Shouted Winter did not accept Adam's inappropriate treatment of Leathina.

“Oh my goodness what makes you so angry sir? I just tore off a little of her dress. What are you thinking.” Adam spoke while holding Leathina's face deliberately showing it to Winter.

“KIT YOUR DIRTY HANDS OFF HER!” Winter yells back and subconsciously pulls his sword from the scabbard to cut off Adam's hand, which now holds Leathina's face.

“Master, if you don't want this woman and you die here I suggest save your back.”

By the time Winter will approach them Adam's subordinates also draw his sword, because the situation for Winter is not good finally Winter resigned and returned to save his sword.

“Just calm sir, I won't do anything to this woman if I haven't given you my money.”

The piece of cloth that Adam took from Leathina's dress he used to bandage the wound that was on Leathina's neck to stop her bleeding. With reason to treat Leathina, Adam deliberately brought his face closer to Leathina's neck to see how deep her wound was and whispered to Leathina.

“I'm sorry for hurting you, Lea.” Adam's whisper to Leathina.

Leathina did not reply to Adam's whisper for fear that Winter would see the movement of her mouth and find out that she knew Adam from the beginning, Leathina would just shut up and look at Adam, in his eyes he wanted to say that he was okay.

After a few hours of waiting, the sound of the horse's foot was finally heard and stopped right in front of the mansion after that entered a soldier who had been asked by Winter to bring bags containing money as a ransom for the Leathina.

“Mr Winter, this is the money they asked for.” Lard spoke as she placed the bags of money she was carrying in front of the criminals who were still holding Leathina hostage.

“Listenated Lard.”

 “Where did you take this much money in such a short time in this notoriously poor border town?” Winter asked curiously by whispering to Lard who managed to bring the money in just a few hours.

“We took it from Baron Thoper he was one of the nobles who ruled in this region, we heard reports from the public that said that Baron Thoper often asked for high taxes on the people who live here. We disguised ourselves as ordinary people and threatened him by informing him of all his crimes we would report to the king on his account Baron Thoper gave us money as a cover-up.”  Lard explained to Winter in a quiet voice so that no one would hear their conversation.

“Gentlemen do you not intend to give up my money?” Adam spoke while pointing towards the bags of money that Lard was carrying.

“I'll give it back when you hand over the woman you sandra to me.” Winter told Adam.

“But I'll just hand it over if you qualify me third.”

“Alright tell me what your last terms are.”

“Don't come back to catch us.”

“I can't guarantee it Sir, because after I leave here there will definitely be a new command to come catch you guys.”

“It's okay then you only need to meet two conditions. Now leave the money to me, well Miss you walk that way.” Actually from the beginning Adam did not really care about his conditions fulfilled or not, for him as long as Leathina survived and Leathina's good name was not polluted because with the hitmen was enough for her.

Leathina walked away from Adam to where Winter was, while Winter anxiously waited for her and immediately pulled Leathina when Leathina was very close to him.

“Thank you sir, these money belong to me now.” Adam spoke as if satisfied with what he had earned he asked some of his friends to pay for the money Winter had given him.

“Then I will go now.”

Winter immediately took Leathina pegi from the place, he lifted Leathina up on his horse and drove her horse to leave the old mansion where the assassins were.
