Chapter 146: Other Failures

Set in a narrow alley with little lighting, a man was sitting on a pile of wooden boxes, staring at the man in the hat who was coming to him. The two looked very familiar, as soon as the man in the hat arrived before the other man, he threw a small scroll at his friend.

"They failed?" The man smiled as he tidied up the needles and put them back in his cloak pocket. "Look what's going to happen when we get back, do you think Mr Paris will just let go?" The skinny man screeched while adding spice to his words, obviously he did not like the boss.

"We both don't have the qualifications to talk about the affairs of the superiors, so stop talking about the no-no. You should know what consequences you would have if Chief Tobias had heard all your bullshit just now" said the man in the hat, then walked away with his friend.

"Well, you've got a point." The blond man, with stitch wounds around his face, said with a strange smile. He walked in with a deliberate little careless step, following his comrade to begin the special operation assigned to the two of them.

With a sneak step, the two entered the royal family mansion. They easily defeated the guards patrolling around. The man in the hat, Damian, used his abilities, made many dopelgangers and used the clothes of the guards who had been frozen as disguises. Meanwhile, Max goes into stealth mode which makes it invisible on the surface.

"How, has your dopelganger found the queen's location?" Max asked in a slow tone. On the other hand Damian just shook his head, in response that his efforts had not yet obtained the results that both of them wanted.

Damian and Max are walking in a hallway, waiting for information from a copy of Damian that has spread throughout the mansion. When a guard discovers the man in the hat, Max immediately throws a poisoned needle from the pocket of his robe to silence the soldier. Well, that's how they blatantly defeated the guard soldiers. Thinking that all the powerful experts in this place had all gone to the battlefield, there was nothing else for the two to fear.

A moment passed, Damian suddenly spewed out a mouthful of blood and leaned against the nearby wall. Max cancels his stelath once he realizes something is wrong with his friend. Next he immediately helped Damian to stand up, and hurriedly asked about the oddity that had just happened to his comrade.

"Someone has destroyed my copy, this is the counterattack I received ...." Before Damian finished explaining to Max, he again cried out in pain while holding his chest tight. As fresh blood began to flow from his mouth, Damian struggled to control himself, who was receiving a painful retribution. "Someone is coming from the west," Damian said in a half-whispering tone, instructing his comrade to look towards the hang at his destination. Max, who heard it, immediately took out a dozen needles from his robe and threw them.

Immediately a figure of a long-haired woman appeared and blocked all those thin needles with a sword in hand. It was easy for the woman to swing her sword as fast as lightning. The two men's eyes were being played with, when they saw the needles falling to the ground without seeing the woman deflecting them.

Max frowned when he realized the woman before him was extremely strong. Seeing from the flow of mana in his body, the man understood very well that the two would not be able to handle the woman. Therefore Max swiftly grabbed Damian's arm from the invisible fog and brought him into stealth mode. With a sneak movement the two ran away to save lives.

Blood dripped onto the ground after a while the chase took place. The ugly faces on the two experts who were trying to avoid the random slashes that Akio was throwing, but several times they failed and ended up injured at some point in the body.

The chase continued until outside the open space, more precisely in the courtyard of the royal family mansion. The two could only sigh in relief once their space of movement became wider than before while still inside the building. However, that expression did not last long until Damian stopped and exited his stealth mode.

A sword stuck in his chest, making the man in black hat still freeze and unable to say anything. The surprised Max immediately stopped and looked towards the back. Only after finding his friend was already in a terrible state. Max put on a complicated expression and trembled nervously. Seeing Damian's condition that was so severe, he assumed that it was impossible to take him when the circumstances were like this, he decided to continue going and leave him. In a desperate situation, Max uses his other abilities to help escape.

Then the big man lifted the corpse, then followed Akio who had walked first. The two rushed back to the queen's residence, rejoining Darius who was still there.
