After almost half a day they traveled, they came to a settlement with solid stone walls surrounding the area inside. On the upper side of the wall, there are guard posts where there are guards in full clothes who pay respect when they know who comes is the ruler of the place, Earl Edward. Previously the guards saw from a distance the group was walking closer so they aimed their bow at standby if it was the group of bandits who came. But the misunderstanding disappeared when one of the guards saw the master join the party.
They stopped in front of the gate, and waited for the guards to come to greet them.
"The gatebooks!"
"Master has returned!"
A guard from the top of the wall shouted out in a loud voice to let the other guard down, two guards who were near the door quickly ran over and opened the door for his landlord.
As soon as the guard saw Earl Edward, they moved aside quietly and upright. On the other hand Earl Edward did not comment and immediately brought his important guest in.
As they arrived in the middle of the settlement, Mavis glanced towards the surroundings and found herself amazed by it. He did not expect a mere Earl to have his own territory of this magnitude, nor the circumstances within so lively and the condition of the inhabitants so good that they were enthusiastic in welcoming the return of the nobleman.
The settlement itself is quite spacious, the foam is said to be the size of one housing complex in Mavis's previous life. The buildings inside looked like the settlements of the lowly nobles! It was so good that even the worst house that was there had two levels! How rich are the residents in this place? Are all mere Earl nobles this rich? Mavis could not petrify but frown in wonder. What about a higher position like a Marquis, or even a Duke? Does he have more amazing territory than this? Although this territory still has the rightful ownership of the kingdom, but he is the ruler who rules here. Mavis was still saluting the way the noble was ruling, it seemed like he was an honest and kind person to his subordinates.
"He's a good man."
Mavis secretly judged the noble to be on a different level to the nobles she had met. Earl Edward was not a corrupt nobleman, unlike the fat cows who only loved to rule, eat, and sleep at the same time.
Earl Edward got off the horse with the help of a man with glasses. The man is still quite young, Mavis guesses he is still in his twenties. While helping his master down, he constantly nagged his superior for leaving without telling and inviting him. Earl Edward himself was helpless and just laughed at the man's behavior. They looked so close that they were like father and son.
"You're so outrageous sir, alright, this time I'll let you go! But don't expect the next one! Trust me, if you do this again, I'll completely quit my job!" The man spoke with an annoyed face while confirming his chained glasses.
"You're listening to me, aren't you, sir? I'm talking seriously!"
"Alright, well, you can calm down, it's not good to speak like that in front of my guests" Earl Edward said in a nasty tone, he squinted his eyes at the man to stop talking non-no. After all he kept doing that every time Earl Edward went out secretly, saying he would stop, but that was just a threat to him. The man was only worried about his master then Earl Edward himself was not angry when he spoke like that.
Immediately the bespectacled man glanced towards the back of Earl Edward and saw some people were coming down from the horses. Those guests in his eyes were like jokes, was only a brat among them? And a man dressed all in black with white hair? Plus a group of beautiful and charming women with their respective styles are also in the group of guests in question.
"Sir, where did you find them? This time you surprised me." The bespectacled man half whispered from behind Earl Edward.
"Stop saying nothing about them, Shawn, if you don't want to lose your tongue" said Earl Edward, now he's turned his back on the bespectacled man.
"They are not a group of ordinary people that even I myself do not dare to provoke, they are important guests. It's better now that you call the other servants to set up a place for them to rest, and make them as comfortable as possible in this place." Earl Edward very carefully spoke to the bespectacled man, Shawn.
