Ervin exhaled, he tried to calm his heart which also continued to feel the pain of rejection for the rejection made by Laras. Even so, he tried to continue to accept it as a form of punishment for what he had been doing.
The sound of a mobile phone ringing shifted his attention, he looked at the number from Indonesia which of course he knew, who was behind the call. Hurry up he walked away while picking up the phone.
"What's wrong?" he asked with a voice that changed firmly and heavy typical Ervin with cold habits.
"Young master, is it true that you discovered the whereabouts of Madam? Do I have to follow you there to explain to Madam what really happened?"
Yes, the voice pitched khawtair belongs to Dedrik, the man who is now almost sixty years old is still loyal to keep Ervin and active in the company when Ervin was not in place.
"No need. I will try to give him my own understanding. All of this is my fault, so I also have to clean it up," replied Ervin who was accompanied by a heavy breath at the end of his sentence.
"Alright, I believe you can settle things and bring Madam back. Call me if you need help, I'll come straight there."
The call ended after they talked about the company's work and development during Ervin's stay in New Zealand.
"It's three o'clock" Ervin murmured as his eyes glimpsed at the numbers on his phone screen. He returned to the dining table, where the lunch dishes had not been touched at all.
"The kids are really sulking?" he continued, staring at the second floor. Ervin took the initiative to take a snack that was always prepared by Laras and two glasses of milk. He set foot towards the second floor with a tray in his hand.
"Ah, it was not too difficult," he murmured after reaching the end of the stairs. Really, this was her first time doing this, and it was hard to even carry a tray while climbing the stairs. Several times his hands were shrugged due to the movement of the steps and made the milk in the glass almost spill.
Slowly he knocked on the door that said Nevan, then switched to the door next to him.
"Nevan, Nessa? This is Papah .. Open the door, let's talk, "Ervin said as he stood between the doors.
Ten seconds Ervin had to wait, until he almost wanted to call back. However, the sound of the door lock opening sounded. Ervin stared at the door that read Nevan expectantly.
"Finally." Ervin breathed a sigh of relief, as Nevan was seen opening the door and he could also see Nessa standing behind him.
"Come in, Pah," Nevan said as she turned and walked back to her room.
Ervin nodded as he began to step his feet following the two little boys.
"Well, you guys have some snacks and some milk, you're gonna be hungry, right?" ervin asked as he put the tray in his hand on the table, then sat down on the small sofa that was there.
"Thank you, Pah. But we're both not hungry." The two children simultaneously shook their heads, rejecting what Ervin had brought.
Ervin exhaled softly. Her two children are really sulking.
"Are you angry with Mamah and Papah?" ervin asked as he looked at the faces of his two children in turn.
"We just want to sleep with Mamah and Papah, like our friends. They always boast both of their parents to us" Nevan said honestly complete with slightly teary eyes and head down.
The honest words of the boy were as if a precise arrow was stuck in his chest. So hurt. Ervin did not expect, if Nevan and Nessa all this time harbored their own pain, due to the conflict of both parents.
"Nevan is often said to not have the same father as friends at school. We want to prove to them that we have a father." Now Nessa complains, as if a blow had returned to Ervin's chest.
"We don't want to see Mamah sad," said plain Nevan who made Ervin's breath choked until his throat hurt.
Ervin hugged his two children with mixed feelings, one tear drop even escaped when he kissed the two boys. The guilt that is so great now not only he felt for Laras, but his two children who were also injured.
How could they be so mature at such a young age? The two of them even harbored wounds just because they did not want to further add to the wounds in his mother's heart?
It's all my fault. All this because of my stupidity that couldn't recognize my own wife. I made them miserable like this, inner Ervin, blaming himself.
"Now you eat first." Ervin took off his embrace after feeling himself calm. But the corner of his eye saw something suspicious behind the blanket. His smile came after that.
"Have you eaten yet?" ask again while looking at his two children.
"Eum, it's-" Nevan scratches the back of her head, while Nessa heads deep.
"Try, tell me the same Papah. Who taught you to lie." Ervin was not angry, he put his two children on his thighs and asked them to tell a story. At first it was difficult to make them want to say it, but after fifteen minutes it was reassuring that he would not be angry. Nevan and Nessa started telling me everything.
It turned out that it was all the food that Dion often brought to accompany them to watch movies together or play in the room when Dion stayed.
Ervin made head bracelets, when it turned out that Baras had no idea about the existence of the food in Nevan's room. Nevan has never eaten it before, only this time the two have no other way to make Laras accept Ervin's presence in their home.
"You know this is wrong? Since you're sulking like this, your mother hasn't had lunch until now." Ervin tried to give some understanding.
Nevan and Nessa look shocked which ends with guilt.
"Sorry," muttered the two together.
Ervin exhaled softly and then began to draw his lip line into a smile.
"Next time don't repeat, huh?" pinta Ervin who immediately got the nod from the two children.
"If you want something or anything, we'll talk like this. How's it?" ask Ervin.
"Yes, Pah," nodded the two.
"good. Now you better rest first." Ervin tidied up Nevan's bed full of food wrappers.
"But we want to see Mamah first" said Nessa who had almost cried because she felt guilty about Laras.
"Your mother is also resting, later when you wake up and apologize. Come on, now prepare to take a nap first," said Ervin who was immediately embraced by his two children. They stepped foot into the bathroom to clean themselves up and get ready for bed.
Ervin just shook his head to see the behavior of his two children. He accompanied Nevan and Nessa to a deep sleep, then went outside with a snack and a tray of milk and snacks that were still intact.
However, his steps came to a halt when the sound of a door opening from Laras' room was heard. Ervin turned his attention until his eyes collided again.
The barrel looked pecked at the half-open door, while Ervin was still standing rigidly in front of Nevan's recently closed room door.
