Forty Two

Alex stared at the old face with his eyes closed in front of him. His hand clasped the hand of the man lying motionless. Only his chest that went down slowly signified that there was still life there.

The door creaking indicates that someone has just entered the room where his papa is being treated. Alex looked a little. With the corner of his eyes it could be seen that the one who had just come was Viola. The girl held something in her hand which she then placed on the table in the room.

Then the girl stood beside Alex without making a sound. Staring at the body lying rigidly on the hospital bed with a sad look.

He has known Arga Dinata for a long time. The man was being very nice to her. The man also made him have high hopes of getting Alex. Arga Dinata is very supportive of her to be a daughter-in-law in the family.

"Is there progress?" The girl's voice was softly attentive. Alex nodded slowly.

"Have you eaten? I brought you food." Ask again after a moment of silence.

"thank you. I'm not hungry." Alex said without looking at the girl.

Viola sighed. He's used to Alex's rejection. But it still hurts when again he has to get it.

"But you have to take care of your own health. How can you take care of your papa if you get sick from not eating regularly." He is still trying to get the attention of the man he has admired since his teenage years. The only man she wanted to be with her all her life.

"I'll eat if I feel hungry." Alex replied in a flat voice.

Viola remained silent. He could hear that Alex didn't like his attention. The man seemed to be upset. He had to be extra patient in dealing with the man.

Someone entered shortly afterwards. Alex and Viola both turned towards the door that was closed from the inside.

"Dennis." Alex took off his papa's hand carefully. He then got up and approached Denis.

Denis smiled faintly at Viola. Then his eyes again noticed Arga Dinata who was still in the same state as the last time he saw her.

"Where's there? Aman?" One question that made Viola not understand its direction. But Denis knows exactly what Alex is asking.

"Pure. Just calm down."

Alex clenched his hand. Every time he recalled those two traitors, his brain instantly boiled and nearly exploded with rage.

"It seems you need a break. Sleep briefly. Let me take care of papa lo." Denis then.

"Have you eaten?" Alex asked Denis a question. Making Viola who heard him frown.

"Later on."

"We eat first. Viola brought food here." Alex pointed at the bag on the table. He then sat down on the sofa and opened the pouch carried by Viola.

Viola was silent where he stood. He almost felt that his presence was not considered by Alex. He was stunned to see the interaction of the two people. Bad thoughts continue to haunt him. Remember what Reno said the other day. He pulls a common thread between Alex's attitude all along and also what he is witnessing right now.

Denis approached Alex and sat down next to the man.

"Why are you still standing there, Vio. Comeoverhere. We eat together." Alex nodded his face, hinting the girl to get close to him.

He just came out of the room where Alex's papa was being treated. Alex falls asleep on the couch after lunch with Denis. Viola tells Denis that he will take care of Arga Dinata while Alex sleeps.

Denis stared coldly at the girl without making a sound until the girl arrived before him.

"Can we talk for a second?" The girl's breath sounded a little hunting. Maybe because he's running around in a hurry after Denis.

Denis frowned.

"Speaking?" What she meant was what the girl wanted to talk about. His eyes were staring at Viola. It was a wonder because suddenly Alex's admirer wanted to talk to him.

"Aren't you going to take care of Alex's dad? Why are you even out?"

"I don't like to see you get too close to Alex. If you feel like you're still a normal guy, you better stay away from Alex. He's not someone you can turn into a toy." The girl is getting brave.

Denis grinned, feeling funny at the thought of the girl. So the girl thought he was a man. At first she thought Viola was jealous because she knew she was the same gender as Viola.

Viola stomped her feet, feeling annoyed at being ignored by Denis.

He returned to the room where Arga Dinata was being treated. There was also Alex who was sleeping because he was too tired after a night until this morning to take care of the problem of Bisma and Tania.

Not to mention Reno who gave resistance when brought into the storage room by his men. Almost Alex felt pity when he saw Reno being beaten by his men. But considering that his sister was more defending Bisma and Tania, Alex forced to harden his heart.

"I don't feel good enough for you. You better open your heart to another man. You deserve someone better than me."

"Nobody's better than you." Viola stared right at Alex's bead. A look full of hope and love.

"I don't deserve you, Vio. I'm.."

"What do you mean, Alex? You are a perfect man. Every woman dreams of being with a man like you. Including me."

"But I'm not that perfect. I don't deserve your love, Vio. Stop wishing for me. We're just friends, like we were before."

"Go away. I'll keep your papa here."

"If you need anything, just call my men outside." Alex said before leaving the room. Viola nodded in understanding with Alex's words. He stared at the man who stepped out, until the door leaf closed again obliterating Alex's shadow behind it.

Day went by night. Alex drove his car with a straight forward look. But rest assured, the contents of his head are full of various problems. About all the problems he was facing. About his father's condition that did not improve. About his conversation with Viola who kept waiting for the word love from him.

Alex shook his head slowly. Women and romance are not her priority right now. He's never thought about it all this time. Even he never had any feelings for Viola that he knew was always faithful waiting for love from him.

And Denis? What happened to Denis? He's always comfortable with Denis. Is this what makes him unable to accept any woman in his life? Could it be her..??
