Until a while, Wilda did not move from her place and just stared blankly at the quiet streets. He had just forced Alia to go with a man who only a moment ago he knew her identity. Not just an identity like a name or a place to live. Wilda knows also the little things like traffic violations made or his family's trail traffic.
Kevin Reegan's. A man only a year older than Alia was the son of a well-known conglomerate in Central City. His family works for the government, and is known to have a clear and unsuspicious footprint. Wilda can be sure because the information he gets comes from a very reliable source.
"May Alia be well," he murmured softly.
Wilda never liked it if her worried feelings came true. Tonight he felt such a deep discomfort, that he had to frown a few times to guess. Moreover, there were reports of events earlier this afternoon, related to two guests who left due to Risa's previous carelessness.
Wilda sighed. He was very sad that he could not take care of Alia. Although he could not have the special ability to defend himself, but at least by ensuring the safety of Alia directly helped make him calmer.
"If I drive him myself, will this uncomfortable feeling disappear." Wilda scratched her head that was not itchy. Trying to get rid of his bad thoughts.
Wilda looked up, staring at the unclosed starry sky. The dim moonlight for some is a blessing and a favor, but not a few find it to be frightening. Wilda remembers her first day meeting Alia. Airport, five years ago. Rinda was the one who recommended the woman to work in the cafe she managed. First, he considers it as a normal thing. Alia is close to Rinda, and Rinda will help her situation by becoming a worker at the cafe. For Wilda, it would still be a normal job relationship. He had no intention of giving any special treatment at all. Even Wilda had been a little cynical.
A small smile rose on Wilda's lips. I don't know since when Alia managed to amaze him. He could not resist the desire to love that woman. Alia becomes an important part that is parallel to her family, or even more than that, equaling Wilda when appreciating Rinda. Alia seems to have a special charm that makes her a center of affection. At least that was what he understood from the attitude of his other men towards Alia. No one doesn't like it.
Wilda's daydream was only stopped when a car stopped right in front of him. As the car's glass descended, a man poked his head from inside, waiting for Wilda's follow-up response. But Wilda was still flinching.
"Let's hurry. Rinda is waiting. And you better shut that mouth or a rhinoceros beetle will get in there."
Wilda clenched her mouth quickly. His eyes glared sharply. "I didn't open my mouth that wide! You fucking Bram. It's only fitting that you haven't had a wife until now" he protested.
"You are my wife then" replied the man named Bram casually. He gestured with his head to let Wilda get into the car immediately.
Wilda, though reluctant, kept walking closer and opened the car door. As soon as he entered, he immediately swung his small bag and tried to hit Bram, even though he knew it would be useless. Bram parried without difficulty as he had expected it.
"I'll say an early condolence to anyone who's going to be your wife" Wilda said.
"That means you'll be happy for yourself." Bram answered lightly. He was already running his car before Wilda finished wearing his seatbelt.
Wilda shrugged her shoulders. "Don't just talk. What if reality?"
"I'll be happy."
Wilda narrowed her eyes as she looked at Bram, but said nothing.
"Why? Do I look handsome?" asked Bram with a confident smile.
Wilda frowned and shook her head slowly. "You look crazy. Did you just have a drink?"
"I'm a hundred percent conscious."
Wilda rolled her eyeballs. Plunge his body into the car seat. Bram no longer spoke, only staring at the streets.
Bram always looks relaxed under any circumstances. It made it very difficult to find the difference between his serious or playful remarks. But Wilda was very sure that the man had just been playing around. Such jokes are always thrown wherever they meet. Wilda could not but think of it as a past wind.
"Why don't you take your gloves off?" asked Wilda when she looked at him.
Bram stared from the tail of his eyes, then his gaze was fixed on the glove he was wearing. He made a quick gesture to take the glove off and throw it into the dashboard of his car lightly.
Wilda looked at Bram's hand and compared it to his face that looked unconcerned. "Alia never asks why do you wear gloves all the time?"
Wilda held back the swearing until her eyebrows went up and down. He then sighed for the umpteenth time before throwing his face away, staring at the street next to him. Silence filled the atmosphere of the car.
"This is how it feels every day I drive Alia home. Quietly."
Wilda looked back. Now with a deep frown on his forehead. "really? How awkward. Why don't you do something to melt the atmosphere?"
"I told you, Alia's not as chatty as you are" Bram said. "She seemed happy with me not speaking anything during the trip."
Wilda smiled a wry smile. He felt it was better, considering that each time Bram spoke he always kept his head and heart hot. Bram is also capable of flipping through words and provoking the anger of anyone.
"Finally I was able to meet the second figure that feared a Wilda other than Rinda. How can each of these people have a very opposite nature to you?" Bram pretended not to notice Wilda's reluctance to argue. Instead, he wanted to disturb the woman.
Beyond Bram's prediction, Wilda did not respond. The woman began to squint her head while leaning back.
"Is this about the strangers?"
Wilda looked at Bram and nodded. He could be sure Bram saw it even though his gaze was focused forward. "Risa must have told you. The two people who came to the cafe this afternoon did look suspicious. I'm afraid it's her people who could endanger Alia."
Wilda recalled the time when Risa took the time to speak to him with four eyes. Not many know that Risa is actually not as simple as it seems from her status as a part-time worker there. The girl's job is to ensure the safety of the cafe in person. He made observations on every visitor who came, or even on fellow employees behind the kitchen.
Risa's cheerful face and carelessness become the perfect mask that keeps a careful, sharp, and meticulous girl. He often seems to make mistakes, but it's really his way of testing suspicious people. The commotion he made this afternoon was also related to people who looked suspicious.
"A man named Aslan and a little girl called Carla. Either this is a real name or just a cover. But the actions of the two who tried to disguise actually invited questions" Bram's analysis. He got a more detailed report from Risa with her status as the original master of the girl. "Risa reported that the two wore hair wigs and brown softlens, but it could not cover the character of their faces that looked foreign in the country. Did he hire a hit man from abroad?"
Wilda paled and sat up straight. He glared with a tense face. "W-what? Well, then, what should we do? Alia's in danger, right? Brams! can you turn around and make sure? I-"
"Wilda calm down," cut off the soft Bram. He glanced at Wilda's trembling hands. A wish flashed through his head, but at the same time, he did not want to do so either. He just shook his head slowly, trying to dispel the thought.
"That guy won't do anything to Alia. It will not give an advantage, it can instead be a hindrance in his search. Alia was still safe as long as the official's son drove her properly. I've given you very accurate information. That kid won't do anything stupid to Alia either. You need to stay calm."
Wilda returned to her body. Now his hands were hugging the body, still looking anxious. "You see, I better go to Rinda's place by myself. And you're still dropping off Alia as usual."
Bram shook his head, but said nothing.
It was then that Wilda realized something. "If Rinda wants to see me, why doesn't she call right away? If he calls, I don't have to wait until I get home from work like this."
Bram did not comment, instead trying to avoid Wilda's demanding gaze.
"It wasn't Rinda who asked me to come. You made that up, didn't you?!" ask Wilda by raising her tone.
Bram did not dismiss the statement. Nor did he try to apologize. "Sister Rinda needs you."
Wilda's stunned. He realized the meaning of that short sentence. Rinda's condition has been declining lately and Bram must have realized that. Bringing Wilda is arguably his last step
Knowing that, Wilda immediately got her composure again, though it did not last long.
"Then why are you still driving at this speed, stupid Bram! Faster!"
